Hi Mark and Maeve,
Fab home for Petal aka Lola!
Susanne Vogt
Address: Ballymacowen, Clonakilty, Co. Cork.
Telephone: 0879317616
If you can give her a call and have a chat with her. Mary O’Donovan one of our Cork volunteers, is up in Dublin this weekend and she can bring Petal back with her. I will arrange paperwork and donation so you need not worry about that.
Unfortunately, they cannot travel in the car for long distances with their rescue Boxer as he has trouble with his hind legs.If you have any problems or questions let me know.
Regards,
Sarah
missymooMemberCompletely agree with you. Insurance is so so important. My boxer has had two surgeries in the past 6 months, both for her cruciate ligament (not sure of spelling!!). We were previously insured with Allianz but changed due to a change in our circumstances that meant we couldn’t afford to stay with Allianz. We got a new company through 123.ie but didn’t really look at the policy properly or it’s exclusions It was only when my boxer tore her first ligament that we rang the company to find out about claiming and we were informed of an exclusion on our policy with meant that the max they would pay for any cruciate ligament damage was 500euro. The first surgery cost 1500euro plus extra for her xrays and follow up exams, which meant that we paid approx. 1400euro ourselves. Then she tore the other ligament a few weeks ago and again needed surgery this time costing 1200euro, she just came home yesterday after the surgery so hasn’t yet needed further xrays! If we had stayed with Allianz everything would have been covered, however we thought we were saving 200euro by switching…… fools!!! So to anyone looking for insurance remember to check every detail of the policy and don’t be stupid like us!! Boxers among other breeds can be prone to cruciate damage so make sure to check that your own breed is fully covered by your policy.
missymooMemberWhat about thinking of fostering?? You can get a feel for a second dog in the house and help some nice dogs along the way to their forever home too….you might just meet one you really like or they might find you:) Have to say it’s amzing to see the differences in the dogs that we have had in our home so far and how they interact with our dogs. There could be someone perfect out there waiting for you all
missymooMemberSo delighted for Nala, you’ve done so much for her I’m sure she’d be lost without you and you without her!!
missymooMemberSo sorry to hear about Snowy. RIP.
missymooMemberOh she looks fab and her coat looks so thick I think her name was changed to Jenny too. More feminine for this beautiful girl
missymooMemberHe is doing great! Obviously loves kids! He used to play chasing here with Basil for ages until he collapsed with exhaustion He has found a great replacement
missymooMemberKenny looks great in his video Belinda. So relaxed and chilled out! It’s great to see. He definitely has put on weight since he came into foster care even though he’s still so skinny I’m sure the lb’s are flying on at this stage Kenny definitely deserves his forever home soon.
missymooMemberBasil went off to his forever home today Mark dropped him off and when he was leaving, Basil was busy playing ball with the kids and his new doggie brother Kenny and never even noticed him leaving So just like that he’s all settled in Traitor Can’t wait to hear how he’s getting on. Best of eveything to our little Baz and his new family. I know he is definitely getting an upgrade in life The house is very quiet without you
missymooMemberLove the pictures Belinda. He’s such a lovely dog he definitely deserves a great home! Glad he’s listening to Lilly and starting to get the picture she’s not interested
missymooMemberI’m definitely gonna miss him but I’m sure he’ll get over us pretty quickly with the lovely Lilly to keep him company He is feeling a lot better today and is moving around much more. He had a little diarrhoea this morning again but I think it’s more from her procedure than anything else. At the moment he’s pretending to kill Basil who is making so much noise with pretend groals than I can’t even hear the tv Think Baz will miss him more than anyony
missymooMemberThe lovely Kenny was neutered today and is currently trying to get comfy on the couch. The poor guy seems to be pretty sore as he wouldn’t lie down for ages. He was resting his head on a pillow on the couch while still standing until he nearly fell over God love him. He has just realised that lying on his back seems a bit more comfy. He scoffed his dinner as soon as he got in the door so his appetite obviously hasn’t been affected He is a funny little guy who has found it hard to relax the last few days tending to only sit for a couple of minutes and then he’s off again sniffing everywhere over and over. He sometimes likes to sit by himself far away from everyone and then other times would practically sit on your face if you let him, trying to get as close as possible I really think he’s a lovely fella and with a little time to settle into his surroundings he’ll be a great companion.
missymooMemberKenny is doing well now. When he first arrived he was still suffering with diarrhoea and had some blood too. The vet Paul came to see him giving him a shot and some medication on his first night with us. We were told not to feed him that night but the poor guy must have been starving cause he kept trying to open our bin and grab anything that he could The next morning he scoffed down his chicken and rice and was doing really well until that afternoon when the diarrhoea started all over again Because he is so skinny and he wasn’t drinking very much at all, the vet decided to take him home and keep him on a drip for a little while. Two days later he was back with us and in flying form He is eating loads but still checks out the bin every so often We think he’s already put on some weight. You can still feel every bit of his spine but he’s definitely getting there.
Kenny is brilliant with our dogs but a little nervous of people. He seems to hate the cage and unbelievably has bent all the bars by pushing his nose through all the gaps. He hasn’t settled well at night just yet and cries a bit but I think this is from his nerves and hopefully will settle when he feels a bit more secure in himself. His housetraining is coming on, but as he is not neutured he has tried to mark his territory a few times since arriving Will update with some photos soon.missymooMemberBasil is still looking for his forever home. I don’t have kids in my house but he has been around my niece who is 2 and my nephew who is 8 and he seems to be fine with them. He is nervous at first when meeting new people and tends to back away from adults but he will go straight over to the kids He needs company with him so someone at home most of the day or with other dogs would be good home for him.
missymooMemberSo sorry to hear about little Lucy. Laura you have done a great thing for her by taking her into your home. She was meant for you, a special place in your heart and you in hers. I’m sure she will be in the hearts and memories of many people for a long time.
