Before everyone looses the run of themselves this dog was taken by a social worker from a woman over 80 years of age, not really able to look after herself not to mind the dog.
    This is a sad situation.
Belinda is not saving or taking the dog now as he has been in the pound and she needs to protect her existing foster dog.
Sometimes there is a bigger picture and things are going on in the background to help end up with the best possible option for both dog and human.
Dont get me wrong on this maybe he is her only friend and she was unable to sort it out or maybe she did not care, I dont know but someday we will all be old and maybe need a helping hand.
We will investigate this further meanwhile we will look after the little person and make sure he gets back to full health.

I have had a few dogs with this condition but I never heard of cutting their food back. Have you increased the amount recently? The swollen tummy is due largly to the production of milk and she is hungry because he body is gearing up to feeding babies.

Also any vet I have dealt with will not spay during a phantom as the hormones are totally confused and the dog needs to be done once the phanton has stopped otherwise it can affect the dog long term.

At the moment her body is gearing up for having puppies albeit it phantom ones so if she gets spayed at the wrong time it can affect the hormone balance.
Usually I found that my dogs at the time got a phantom a couple of weeks after a season.
There is a medication called Gallustop I think to stop the milk production and then hopefully bring it to an end.
After that happens thats the time to get her spayed.
    I hope this helps.

Unfortunatley little Eoin is not ready for visitors yet.
Not his choice but his Vets.
He is doing really well and is really able to voice an opinion and has lots to say.
It will be great for him when he can be picked up and cuddled all the time but I would imagine he has other plans after he is released from his solitary confinment, after all he has a lot of catching up to do.
Julie will post up when he is ready to receive interested suitors.

He is feeling so much better and he cant wait to be released out in the world to cause mayhem.
Well he has some catching up to do.
He is just a fab little man someone is going to be very lucky to get him.

This boy has come on so much and has had some much help mainly from Kim as his foster mum he really needs his own home now.
I dont understand how he seems to be overlooked as he would make a fantastic second dog and a friend for life.
He has be subjected to time wasters which had him on hold and then went and bought a puppy instead.
I wish people would put a bit more thought into adopting before they waste our valuable time and the dogs chance of a great home.

I met this little man last week and he is really a lovley pup.
Duffy was really fasinated at something so small but he coped very well in my mad kitchen with 9 four legged people checking him out.
He looks great well done to Joan and family and is as bright as a button.
Someone will be very lucky to adopt this well adjusted, sociable and loving boy. This is the big difference when adopting a pup or dog from DID all the hands on work that is done with them makes sure they can fit in to a new home very easily , unlike a lot of dogs who have not been lucky enough to get this adjustment period which really sets them up for their new life.

This poor girl is still coughing after all the medication but she is in great form.
She loves going to the field with all the others and runs forever.
She has improved on the housetraining and the lead training wont take long but I never have her on a lead as I have too many dogs to walk at the same time usually around 7.
She loves all toys and is running after a ball but not sure what to do when she gets it.
She now enjoys being brushed and she has such a shiny thick healthy coat.
She is a sweet dog and so affectionate.

This little dynamoe is with me and doing fine.
She has a bad dose of kennel cough but finally today she has started to improve slightly.
She is great with other dogs and good with children but very bouncy so maybe not very small children.
She has had no training at all and was afraid of toys.
She has now got the hang of toys and gathers them up like a squirrel and stores them all in her bed.
She is a very good looking dog and very sweet nature but life is one big adventure at the moment.

This is a great little man with a big personality.
I am calling him Prince Michael the 4th.
He is still only a pup but does not know how to play with toys and treats he was not interested in until today when he went shoplifting in the Wagging Tail and chose plain rawhide twists for himself.

We got new dog coats in so I was using him as a model for sizes but he was not impressed as you can see.
He is a great traveller after 5 mins just lies down and falls asleep with his eyes open just in case.
He was a bit overactive in the hormone department when he came and poor Chase had to suffer the amorous advances so he was whizzed to the vet next morning and now that has all settled down.
He gets his stitches out on Monday.
He loves being with you and would make a great companion, he loves sitting on your lap but does not appreciate cuddles which is fine a lot of small dogs do.
He is fine on a lead and does know sit he is also housetrained.
He is getting on fine here rattling around with 8 other dogs but he can fit through my fencing hence the reason for him becoming an employee of the Wagging Tail but he loves going to work he is the type of little person that loves to think he has a mission and is involved and then he feels very important.

The Shih Tzu breed may be small but like the Westies they are not a pushover and actually think they are much bigger in their own mind.
So the home for this little man needs to research the breed, there is no point in applying for him just because he is small and cute, there is a lot more going on under that small fluffy bundle with a cheeky personality.

Joan give me a shout as he is a suitable case for Anxiety drops and now that you know where I live  You can collect some when passing..
It will just help him adjust as he has had no start in life at all.
    Thanks.
