Spoke to little Jack’s new owner today and she continues to be totally delighted with him. He has settled so well into his new life, is now inseparable from new sister Pip, and he’s a much-loved little fellow. He’s bringing joy and happiness, just as he did here. I was half-hoping she’d give him back ;) but no way!

Another wonderful DID story – the bedraggled, confused little guy in the first photo turns into a prince! Magic.

Just as I thought, this little guy is proving to be a total winner. He’s wonderful company, really playful and affectionate, but not a nuisance. He’s just happy when he has company – settles down by my side and snoozes until I move. He’s very well-behaved in the house, doesn’t jump up on furniture unless invited, doesn’t pester for food, he just gently brings his toy over to invite us to play!

He doesn’t like being left alone and our strict no dog sleeping upstairs rule has had to be broken as he howled when left in the kitchen. However, he is quite happy to lie in his basket on the landing, happy just knowing we’re nearby. He never leaves his bed, even when we go to the bathroom on our old-person nightly visits, he doesn’t react until I go to him in the morning.

He had his first trip to the beach today and loved it, racing around like a puppy in big circles. He comes instantly when called, really a very good little boy.

This sweetheart arrived on Thursday, a nervous and confused little guy as he’s spent some time alone and then ended up in the pound. He’s a very very gentle fellow, loves to get any affection and is really playful. He will happily retrieve a ball for ages in the garden, likewise fetching a soft toy in the house and having a wrestling match with it.

It’s always difficult to get a good photo of dark dogs, he has a lovely soft coat and has traces of silver running through it, giving him a slightly brindled look at times. He has a handsome, square face and lovely sticky-up ears.

He’s settling quickly into my house, absolutely loving his walks. Great on and off lead – he quickly became very attached to me so, on his first walk in the park, I allowed him off-lead …. a treasure, he just trots a little ahead but keeps checking I’m there and races to me when I call. He’s happy about meeting other dogs, he seems docile with them. He hates to be left alone, I can imagine him enjoying the company of another dog. Unfortunately I can only keep him for 2 weeks, so he’s got to negotiate yet another change. But it’s wonderful to see him settling and gaining confidence. I took him to town in the car today (weekly breakfast in Kilkenny shop, he loved his sausage!) and he trembled and shivered with terror at first, but after a few minutes he relaxed in my arms and now hops into the car. He seems really keen to please so I expect great things of this little man!

Yes Lorraine, Toby (but always Cody to me) has indeed been very fortunate to have found his new home with Audrey and Geoff. While I was very sad (actually, in floods of tears) leaving him, I knew what a marvellous life he was going to have with them, and how their slower pace of life would suit him better. We were so seriously tempted to hold on to him, he is the most terrific dog who just made us smile all the time, but we forced our heads to rule our hearts and hey presto – Cody became Toby. It really is doggy paradise in their lovely Wicklow home and it sounds like Toby is already making his way into all their hearts. He’s incredibly lucky – from pound to paradise in three short months!

How lucky this little pet is to wind up with you and Shane, Christine. She’ll be a different dog with your magic in no time. Good luck with her.

Cody is a real little character, clever too. He’s learned all our patterns, so once lunchtime comes and the fridge opens …. he’s off his chair in the living room, doing his cute meerkat beg to be rewarded by some ham or cheese. He skittishly follows me around in the mornings, anticipating his morning outing with infectious enthusiasm. He’s become very playful since he arrived, always ready for a game. His favourite toy is a bright red santa with a squeak and his big eyes positively sparkle with delight when he hunkers down with it, hoping it’ll be thrown – endlessly – or, even better, wrestled from his mouth. The game is even better when played with doggy-growling sound effects – by both parties!

Cody was a great hit helping to open all the presents on Christmas morning. He loved his own – settled down to chew on it straight away and his favourite occupation is fetching it …. endlessly! He was as good as gold all day, lying patiently under the table while we ate and then enjoying his own turkey dinner. He worked off all those extra calories on the beach this morning and is now snoozing happily.

Ah Gina, it’s wonderful to see handsome Buddy (my old foster Tigger) being a big foster brother and doing such a terrific job. Can you believe, it’s now almost 2 years since he and his brothers were found in a box in the snow. What an amazing turn of fortune he had, begin adopted by you and (nearly) becoming the main man in your life! Best wishes to all of you.

another picture of the gorgeous little Cody – a real catch for any forever home! his big, beautiful eyes sparkle with delight when it’s playtime, and look soulfully out of the window when he’s contemplating the meaning of life :D . he’s full of beans but also sooooooooo good. such a lovely little face with those big, big dark eyes and beautiful, shiny, wheat-coloured mane. he’s an absolute angel and a total heart-stealer – the softest, perfect companion and a sweet happy friend to come home to every day. just gorgeous.

Little Cody is such a people-loving dog – always snuggling up next to your feet on the sofa and making new friends in the park. He loves going for walks, chasing squirrels in the leaves. He would be SUCH a good family dog, or suited to an older person because of his loving, gentle nature. He doesn’t need much upkeep, being petite and well-trained, happy to fit in with everything you do.
