Does anyone remember the lovely Woody? He was the big baby of a Rottie in Ashton who was due to be PTS but the very same day a new fosterer, Tigger on here, came forward and offered him a lifeline. He went straight into foster where he got on great and then went to his forever home! Well here is an update on Woody from his owners…

"Poor Woody gave us all a fright recently when he went lame and his x-rays showed a growth on the bone. Our vet initially thought it was bone cancer and the prognosis for Woody was not good. She referred us to UCD and they took more x-rays, bloods and did a biopsy which came back as being clear. Last Friday Woody was back again for more x-rays and they are nearly sure it is just a bone cyst. He is due to go back in three months time to check it again. However he does have a degenerative joint disease and has completed a course of Cartafin and is on pain killers daily. He also has to lose 10 kilos! We put him on the Hills low calorie and unfortunately it made him very sick so now he is on Royal Canin and it seems to be agreeing with him. He has lost about 3 kilos so far and this is also helping his joints. When they x-rayed him both legs showed up lead pellets where he had been shot in his previous life.

Despite all of his illness he is not in pain and loves his walks. He misses his treats but there is nothing that can be done about that. He is a beautiful dog and a great ambassador for his breed. He is very much a part of our family and needless to say we would be heartbroken should anything happen him but rest assured we would not let him suffer should this cyst turn out to be anything more sinister in the future.

Attached is a photo of Luke and Woody that was taken by a photographer on Tara.

Keep up the good work and if ever I can be of any help please let me know."

Very sad news for Woody but he is getting all the TLC in the world and hopefully there will be a bright outcome for this gorgeous, lovable boy.

I did this homecheck and really believe that Woody and his family were made for each other. It’s lovely to see such a perfect match and to know that both the dog and the humans are better off together!

I have to agree they were made for each other, Woody and his new mammy are inseperable. I think Woody was a cat in a previous life – he certainly has nine lives. He gave us all a scare for a while. I met him and his mammy for a walk in Tara during the summer and he is just devoted to her. Hopefully a few visits to Weight Watchers and he’ll be right as rain again :D

For anyone who remembers the lovely Woody, I got a text from his mammy today to say he is alive and well and doing great. It’s three years ago today since he left my house and we still talk about him…..hope he has many more years with his family :D
