Well I have deliberately avoided updating on the little Popsicle until she had settled in and today is the day when she was transformed from a timid little, belly to the ground, tail under her bum sweetheart to a much more confident and self-assured little lady!
There were lots of telltale signs – the big hole dug in the garden, the shredded Lidl catalogue all over the floor, the systematic and gleeful destuffing of "pink bunny" and the fact that Casper is worn out from playing and chasing!!!
Poppy is an absolute little darling and she has stolen the hearts of all of us here. We had a visit from my little, almost 2, grandniece today and Poppy LOVED her! She eats like a horse, sleeps like a log and loves to be cuddled and petted.
Toilet training is a work in progress but she will get there – meanwhile my mop and Flash are getting a great work out!!!
A real little treasure.

Sorry it has been a while since I posted on this little treasure but I was waiting for the "Colgan Curse" to be realised in full – and it has now happened!!!
The Colgan Curse involves getting a timid, quiet, scared little angel of a puppy and turning her into a little divil. Poppy has now arrived!!!!
Gone is the tail under her belly, crawling along the floor, apologetic for living little pet and she has been replaced by a head (and tail) held high, chewy, opinionated, vocal little sweetheart and I LOVE IT!!!
She plays constantly with the others here (has a real soft spot for Casper), is permanently seen with a toy in her mouth, demands her cuddles and is truly a real little pup!! Great to see.
Toilet training is coming on great, she is eating well and sleeps like a baby. She is a real little darling!

Poppy Im delighted to hear you’ve graduated from "The Colgan College of Cuteness"….you are a real poster girl for what a pack of good dogs and humans can teach a willing pup!
I transported Poppy from the pound to fostercare along with Pip. She was such a timid little thing and the look of fear in her eyes… I am so happy to see her now, happy, confident and mischievious all the things she was never allowed to be. She fell on her four paws when she went to live with such wonderful fosterers

Long time, no update!!! Sorry! This little lady continues to thrive and to grow in confidence and self-assurance.
She is truly one of the pack here and all the dogs – and the humans – absolutely LOVE her. She is a really gentle little soul who stands back and observes before plunging in to any new situation but is up for anything when she is sure of her ground.
We had a lot of visitors over the Bank Holiday weekend and she was very quiet – definitely a bit overwhelmed by all the extra people. She went to her bed and watched proceedings from there but greeted everyone who approached her with a waggy tail and a smily face. She is doing great with her toilet training and is due her second vax tomorrow so it will be all systems go!
She is a joy to foster (for the first time in ages, I am having the "I wonder could we?" debate with myself). So if her forever family rescue me from myself, I would be very grateful – I think!!!!
She is BEAUTIFUL!!!

One more of this beauty . . .CAM_1393.JPG
Well the bould Poppy – who was spayed during the week – showed us a very creative side to her personality last night!!
I had left my son’s steak and chips – a REAL treat in these recessionary times!
– high up and covered till he came home. Poppy, complete with stitches, managed to extricate the steak from the plate (she declined the chips, mind you) and proceeded to DEVOUR it!!!
What was really intriguing was that we never heard a thing – not the plate rattling or the cover being pushed aside : NOTHING!!!
This amazes me because Casper, our other confirmed kleptomaniac always betrays his intentions by knocking something over or making a song and dance out of it! Not so Poppy!!!
Clever, clever girl. I think steak agrees with her too cos she is looking fantastic today!!!

What a clever puppy
and avoiding the chips, very smart indeed. Sniffer dog in the making? ![]()
Well our darling little girl left us this morning for her new forever home ( yet another snivelfest in the Colgan household!!!)
I absolutely know she will be very happy with Debbie who has a beautiful park right on her doorstep and whose sister adopted Poppy’s sister, Pip a few weeks ago – so the tears were all for me!!! Debbie has promised loads of updates – she has already started keeping me up to date with the little princess
Have a truly wonderful happy ever after, Pops! No one deserves it more.

From Poppys family
First night great, slept straight through with only one pee! Poppy has met nearly all neighbours human and four legged! She is snoozing again after a huge walk. Thanks so much for taking such good care of her
