Hi,I am wondering if anyone knows about worms as luckily I have only had one minor case before when I adopted Max.
Poor little Zoe who I adopted from the pound on Thursday had fleas treated in the pound and I treated her for worms on Friday after a trip to the vet.Since yesterday morning she has been passing loads of worms.
My questions are how long does it take the adult worms to die as they are still very much alive?
How long does it take to clear out all the adult worms and finally when is the earliest you can give the next worming treatment?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much,Dianne and Zoe.

    Hi Dianne,

Sorry to hear about poor Zoe, worms are such an awful thing, especially for little pups as it can take a toll on thier little systems.
It’s a good sign though they are coming out, it means the wormer is working its magic as it will clear them all out of her system… I remember having pups that were so bad they were coming out alive both ends… not nice for the poor babies.

Do you know what wormer was used? As I should be able to determine when the next dose can be given.
If she started passing them early yesterday they should hopefully stop passing today… depending how bad the worms are.

The main thing is to make sure she is drinking plenty and still has her appetite… keep an eye on her as with bad cases of worms the little ones can dehydrate pretty quick. Check her gums to make sure they’re pink as oppose to a pale, white colour ;)

    Hi,thanks so much.

Zoe is in great form and eating and drinking well.
Zoe had 1 Milbemax 2.5 mgs/25mgs as she is only 1.7 kgs,on Friday.

Thanks for the info as luckily this is the first case I have had where they have continued for more than 1 day and in that case they were all already dead.
