Urgent foster needed for 6/12mt old Brittany spaniel (male – red/white). This poor baby was found straying after weeks! He is very nervous and is not doing well in the pound and needs out asap! Please text Gwen 085 8158201 or call Kathy on 086 3696413 if you can help!
July 11, 2009 at 2:31 pm #86170stefandjudyMemberI met this guy in the pound today and after spending 30 min with him before he let me touch him and another 30 min to put a collar on him, I couldn’t leave him when the pound was closing. He was so nervous in there, didn’t know what was going on and was shaking and growling at people cause he was so scared.
I carried him into the car and he is doing so much better here, it’s a complete transformation! He is relaxed and exploring the place, but hardly ever comes into the house and won’t come near people but that will change soon I’m sure. He is a lovely boy and I know he will be very affectionate once he learns to trust people. Now he is called Bobby, he takes treats out of my hand and follows Judy around in the garden

July 11, 2009 at 4:38 pm #86299JennyMemberThanks Stef, I know Bobby will thrive with you.
July 11, 2009 at 4:43 pm #86209AnonymousMemberSorry everyone am changing his name to Buddy as we already have a bobby and as we can get more than 80 calls a day would like to keep things simple, so each dog as a different name, my poor little pea brain cannot cope with two bobby’s ! SORRY
July 13, 2009 at 9:13 am #86243stefandjudyMemberHa ha! Actually I’m calling him Benny anyways, it really suits him and I hope it doesn’t send you over the edge Suzi!
Benny is such a darling; he copies everything Judy does and now comes into the house. When I pet her he pushes his nose into me, then jumps back and then does it again until I finally get to give him a rub on the head, which he really enjoys. This morning he even started to push his head in closer and stepped on my feet! I’m amazed as he really didn’t want anyone near him only two days ago.
I read up on his breed and found he is definitely a Brittany and his tail was not docked, it’s naturally short! Also, Brittany’s are actually not Spaniels; they’re a type on gundog! Therefore Benny will be suited to an active home, if possible someone who will do agility withy him or something like that.
He prefers dry puppy food to mashed potatoes and loves to chew things day and night. He likes to bite kongs and soft toys and bristles of brushes and Judy’s tail! He is most relaxed when it’s busy around him; he goes fast asleep in seconds when people are talking and the radio is on and the washingmachine and dishwasher are running.
When it’s quiet he can be jumpy with any kind of sounds and will stand to make sure he can see you while he is eating. He is such a darling and will be a heart breaker. He already is really; my mom wants to take him home to Berlin.
He is still quite unsettled in many ways, but is getting better all the time. He is pretty much house traine except for one small accident last night.

Glad he is getting on well Stef, i’m sure he will improve everyday.
July 14, 2009 at 11:36 am #82997AnonymousMemberAlready another pup called Benny PLEASE CAN WE KEEP NAMES DIFFERENT for each pup, come on guys there has got to be other names Am loosing my mind here, too many confusing calls and sending people different details and to different homes…..Its really hard!!!! Please make my job even a little bit easier please

Ok sorry rant over
Much appreciated!!!!!
July 14, 2009 at 11:58 am #82996stefandjudyMemberOkay we are going with Oscar so. Glad he does not react to anything yet anyways
The little darling lies on our feet now and pushes his nose into us when he is hungry. Yesterday three people spilled their tea cause they got a surprising nudge on the elbow from Oscar, who wanted his Nutro! He eats very well and still loves chewing.
July 14, 2009 at 1:15 pm #83569Joan KirwanMemberHi Suzi,
If you ever need help with calls , emails just shout this is my speciality. so please shout you have my number … JoanJuly 24, 2009 at 8:19 am #86645stefandjudyMemberOscar is doing better every day! I have some pictures to put, will get around to it over the wkend I hope.
He is really getting into this nose-nudging thing and does it all the time, preferablt from behind so you just feel him literally walking into your thighs. If you turn around he jumps back though and often still doesn’t let you touch him. He loves being around people now and enjoys a head rub every now and then, but will still keep his distance most of the time and wil just lie somewhere near you and watch you.
I had him out for the first time the other day and he was shaking a lot at the start and just running from one tree to the next and trying to hide behind cars. He relaxed for some of the walk though and spent ages snifing the grass in the park. He was delighted!
Oscar has a home waiting for him and will go around the middle of August, before that I will try and do some more work with him and get him used to people. He has put on a bit of weight and has had a bath so he is a little smashing thing now! Him and Foxy play all day long and they are both wrecked by the time I get home
August 11, 2009 at 11:12 am #87266stefandjudyMemberLittle Oscar is doing great and I am completely in love! He is the biggest baby and the most loving pup! He was neutered 2 weeks ago and unfortunately there were some complications so he has been back and forth to the vets, but is all better now. He still has to wear the buster collar but is doing very well with it! He is getting used to it and is not complaining
Oscar walks up to people now to get a pat on the head; it’s amazing to see the difference in him! He still won’t go outside without the other dogs; he gets very scared but we are definitely getting there! On Sunday he was out with me and Judy and I was able to let him off the lead for the first time! He had a great time, was racing around and falling over like a real puppy! He is starting to pick up toys, but drops them again and is not sure how to play.. He also loves his pigs ears and gobbles them up more quickly than the rottie ‘pup’, who he plays with all the time!
He is fully house trained now and I’m very proud of him for all the progress!
August 14, 2009 at 7:27 am #87335debrandMemberHow lovely to read about his progress. He is a handsome little fellow and it is good to see the difference a little love can make to a pup.
