Hi, love these dogs and she needs to get out it seems, but I just came across this legislation re restricted breeds and am a bit worried.
http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1991/en/si/0123.html
So you can’t have a staffie out without a muzzle?! and only on a 1 metre leash? That would be terrible, goes against the nature of the dog and the reason to have one, so they can run free!
Is this enforced, enforcable?
we are fostering a staffie just like this one and have had no problems of that sort even around garda
I read an article about this in the Irish Times when the new legislation was introduced and I’m pretty sure it only applies to public property eg. public parks, council estates etc.
It’s a real shame about some of the breeds on the list- but usually when asked you can say that your dog is a mix or a different breed. Most people who are afraid of dogs wouldn’t have much knowledge to be able to distuinguish the different types. Naturally enough.
Thats great, thanks for the info!
Any update on Hollie?
I think I saw Holly out this morning. I am remembering her by the white triangle on her chest. She seems like a lovely little girl.
Holly is in serious danger, the pound is full up and she will be PTS tomorrow morning. If you can save her, please contact Marie on 0862573180 or Sarah on 0863570580
