Yes Saibh, Hallie and Bax are the proverbial ‘Odd Couple’.
They look so funny tearing around the place together. She’s getting very bold with him now and is actually instigating play which is wonderful to see. He is loving it. :D
I remember reading in your first posts on her about her always curling up in a little ball and I’m looking at her now flaked out on the sofa with all her little legs stuck out. It’s a treat to see.
It doesn’t take much to make her happy. :P
These rescue dogs seem so grateful for every little thing. They don’t ask for much.
There is nothing more satisfying than seeing them relax and unfold when they gain confidence and realise this is their permanent home.
They are a wonderful pair. :D

Hallie continues to make progress in every way and settle into family life.
She is such a happy little girl and always ready with a waggy tail and a warm welcome. She follows me about the house and likes to know what’s going on and help if she can
She has relaxed so much and is not always crunched into a little ball any more.

She loves her food and treats, especially sizzlers and those little curly hide chews though she is quite happy to trot off with any of Baxter’s if he is not being vigilant. There is a constant too-ing and fro-ing and exhanging of munchables

Hallie is also now fully house trained as she suddenly realised what we expected of her and hasn’t looked back. She is such a good girl and loves the garden and playing out with Baxter.
She also knows her name now and comes when called and can even be let off the lead on walks and just stays close by but has a good old sniff of everything too.

Hallie and Bax have become really good friends and are living in complete harmony with one another.
We are so happy with her and so pleased that she is happy with us! :D

I’m really glad shes fully settled in now!
I see you finally got her house trained too! :)
I hope shes gained a bit of weight too, she was underweight when she was first rescued but shes a thin dog naturally.

Yes Saibh, it’s funny but she suddenly twigged with the housetraining and she hasn’t looked back since.
She is completely clean now and is even the first one out the door! Poor girl was probably confused with all the changes.
She is starting to put on a bit of weight which is great as I’m sure you remember how bony her little hips were and how knobbly her spine. Her coat seems to be thickening a bit too and I have high hopes for a very hairy girl before too long. It would be nice if she had a bit of something warm underneath!
She is very happy and settled and so affectionate. Her playful side is really coming out and she leaps in the air and dashes about if she starts. She and Baxter are always racing around the garden and she’s really funny as she takes short cuts and catches him out!
I think Baxter enjoys having her around. She has a steadying influence on him in some ways though he’s still as mad as a hatter!
She’s a really great little dog and is very quiet, she hardly barks at all except at Bax if he’s trying to get her going and he always succeeds in the end even if she doesn’t want to!
She’s going to see the vet on Friday for her vaccination. I’ll get him to give her the once over while he’s doing that.
Did you notice that she has a tic or twitch?
Sometimes she wobbles a bit when it happens. It doesn’t affect her in any other way but I thought it may be little seizures.
I’ll post up what he says about it. She is completely happy and healthy in every other respect.

Yes, I hope so too Aggie. She’s a great little dog and so different in the short time we’ve had her. She is so much more confident and her appetite has returned with a vengeance!
It will be interesting to see what the vet makes of her tics.
It doesn’t seem to cause her any discomfort but it is quite pronounced at times.

Hallie went to see the vet today for her first vaccination.
She was an extremely good girl and wagged her tail at everyone in there. They thought she was adorable. :)
I took my shopping list of things to ask the vet about.
He gave her a general check over and reckoned she was more like four or five years old than two.
He thought that a couple of warty little protuberances on her head and back were nothing to worry about but he reckoned she was in pretty poor condition and was nervous and lacking in confidence due to her previous circumstances. (Which of course we already knew).
He recommended a course of general vitamin supplement and also B vitamins for her coat and her nervous system.
I told him about the twitching and after a while he could see it for himself.
He said it could be caused by trauma to the brain, maybe from a physical injury or as a result of illness like distemper or it could be epilepsy.
He hoped not the latter but by the time we left I think he was considering it as a possibility as he could see the frequency of the twitching.
If she doesn’t improve or gets worse she may have to go on medication for it.
We have to build her up with very nourishing food and the supplements and see how she goes but to keep an eye on things.
He thinks it will take about three months for her to achieve a reasonable condition.
Her heart seemed ok with no skips or delays.
She is also going to be dosed with Advantage tonight which should wave bye bye to any fleas, mites or worms that may be draining her system.
When I mentioned she had a little cough sometimes he said that worms can travel into the lungs and cause damage and discomfort.
Poor girl, I was wincing at the thought!
So we will continue with the nurturing and bring this little girl back to full health and strength hopefully. She deserves a nice life and we really love her already. She is an absolute little sweetheart :)

Now Hallie, all you`ve got to do is plump up weight so you can get better :) And maybe (that`s if she had any) when worms are gone putting on weight will be faster process :)
best of luck and looking forward to updates :)

I never noticed any twitching at all. She never banged her head hard, she fell up the stairs a few times with excitement in the first day or two that she was here but she seemed perfectly fine after it with some cuddles of course, tail wagging as usual!
    How is she doing now?
I knew about the wart on her head but was told it’s perfectly fine and doesn’t need any medical intervention :/
let us know how she gets on in the next few weeks….
    thanks :)

Thanks for your concern and good wishes ladies.
Hallie has been off her food and sleepy and vomited a couple of times today. I think she is suffering from a reaction to the vaccine. Hopefully she will feel better in the morning.
I might have a word with the vet if she is no better tomorrow but I am hoping she will be.
She has looked pretty sorry for herself all day but her little tail was still wagging.
Saibh it’s strange about the twitching but I noticed her blinking her eyes very quickly and then if she was standing her head would twitch a little bit and she would sway.
She does it a lot but it’s no worse than it was and it doesn’t seem to bother her.
I’m hoping that as her condition improves it may go spontaneously.
If it doesn’t she may need medication.
It may be that she suffered some trauma before she was rescued or that her poor condition somehow triggered the tic.It seems like a bit of an unknown quantity.
The little warty things are ok as you say but I thought it best to get them checked out as the vet was looking her over.
I will let you know how she gets on.

I’m happy to report that Hallie is back to her old self this morning and is jumping around and wanting to play and has eaten some breakfast. :D
It’s lovely to see and a great relief.
I am certain now that it was a reaction to the vaccine. :(

really glad to hear that :)
with a wonderful mom like you she’ll get over all her traumas in no time!
fingers crossed that her twitching and swaying is only temporarily :)

Aw Saibh that’s a lovely comment, thanks. :D
You know, I’m not too worried about the twitching. In itself it seems quite stable and even though it’s always there it doesn’t seem to affect her wellbeing in any way.
I think it is just like some people get tics for no apparent reason and none of us can really know what she suffered before being rescued by DID.
She is a wonderful little dog (as you know) and is so happy and content.
She is also asserting herself with Baxy boy and guess who’s winning? lol:
He is such a little monkey, he needs someone to keep him in line!
They are so funny together.
They got new matching purple collars from Ooonagh in the DID shop today to show that these fraternal twins are actually related so I will be posting pics very soon.:D
