This little girl is in foster with Barbara who will update soon
spaniel.jpgMarch 7, 2012 at 3:39 pm #108848barbarabMemberDaisy is taller and leggier than she looks in the initial photo, like a spaniel/setter cross. She was spayed yesterday and so arrived bedecked with the dreaded cone. She’s gentle and very friendly. All very bewildering here, Holly having a go at her at every opportunity …. poor Daisy.

P3071652.JPGMarch 10, 2012 at 3:42 pm #108869barbarabMemberDaisy is a very sweet-natured pup, but unfortunately there’s been no ease in the tension around her and my Holly. Normally Holly reluctantly adjusts to a new arrival within a couple of days, but her level of anxiety and aggression is not easing, hence we’re seeking alternative fostering for Daisy. Holly has a serious heart complaint (more serious than my own!) and she’s so distressed around Daisy I’m anxious for her well-being.
Daisy is a very affectionate, gentle dog. She’s decided I’m her person and is just happy to follow me around, gazing adoringly at me, now that’s a new one for me! She’s house-trained and, while I don’t think any time has been spent training her, she’s well-behaved in general, though with puppyish energy and exuberance. No chewing, destructive behaviour, even when she’s left alone in the kitchen (Holly absolutely freaks if she comes into the living room), she just lies uncomplainingly at the door. Ditto when put in the garden, no complaining or scratching to get in. She has lots of energy, I’ve taken her off lead in the park to have a good run. She doesn’t go far, but is nervous at anything which moves.
With a little work she will make a great family pet, I reckon her loyalty will be tremendous. I’m sorry it’s not working out here, she’s a sweetheart and deserves a great new life.

P3101660.JPGMarch 13, 2012 at 4:03 pm #108934barbarabMemberThe delectable Daisy is still with me so a quick update…..
She’s a collie/spaniel cross, when she sees a dog in the park she drops to the ground in collie fashion, fixes the moving target in her eye, then rockets off. She’s quite nervous of other dogs, though very eager to make friends with them. She gets wildly excited when the lead is produced and just loves her walks. Loud noises spook her a little, but a little pat and reassurance and she’s fine. She loves when people stop to admire her – she’s a very attractive young lady – and is gentle and welcoming to all. But in the house she’s the most wonderful guard dog. Her back is deep and loud, and even though she is particularly gentle, no robber would take his chances round her!
She loves fetching the ball. She has loads of energy and never tires of playing ball. She loves to bury bones and treats, if she can’t get out to the garden she’ll burrow under cushions to hide them. I’ve explained that the nylon bones have been bought for her and are NOT to be buried, but so far, she’s not listening. Reminds me of my children!

P3121628.JPGMarch 14, 2012 at 3:18 pm #108850barbarabMemberDitsy Daisy had her stitches out today and impressed the vet with her co-operation – she just sat on his table without squirming and allowed him to remove them. She’s such a good dog …. most of the time. She has become expert in anticipating when I’m going to leave the kitchen, so she can streak to the door and be out ahead of me!
She’s off to Alison’s tomorrow and all here – except, of course, Holly – will miss her. Hope she catches the eye of some wonderful family as she will make a wonderful pet.

May 24, 2012 at 8:09 pm #109112GayleMemberHello Alison, from Daisy and her new family! So sorry we haven’t written yet, but we have been so busy with Daisy we’ve not had a minute to log on! As you probably guessed Daisy has settled in so well with us. We couldn’t be happier with her. She so affectionate, fun and happy, she’s an absolute joy to have around. The kids are loving her. Natalie is training her to lie down and Sean thinks he has trained her to give the paw – but she already knew that one when she came to us! She goes for a walk every morning up to the school and at lunchtime too to collect the kids. Most evenings we bring her out for a long walk – she’s even been on the beach and we’re startig to let her off the lead. We’re loving the excuse to get off the sofa and she’s running off her bundles of energy. She has slept well since she arrived and is generally very happy. She was quite wary of strangers when she arrived- barking a bit, but she’s calmed down a lot and has never been aggressive. She has always been great with kids – who love her! Thanks so much to Alison and Dogs in Distress – you provide a wonderful service to find the right dog and we’ve got a lifelong friend, so thanks again.

2012-05-23 20.14.22.jpgJuly 3, 2012 at 8:32 pm #110345GayleMemberJust thought you might like an update – Daisy has completely settled in with us now. She’s loving running off the lead when we’re in the park or up the woods. She is so good with children – the kids up at school love her – and she has even got used to our Guinea pigs! She’s done wonders for our son Sean who was always slightly nervous of dogs – he’s completely comfortable with her now and as a result with other dogs too. She has such a loveable nature and is so much fun, easy to train on and off the lead. The kids still love playing with her. We wondered if the novelty would wear off, but it certainly hasn’t. We love her to bits and I’m wondering what life was life without her!
July 3, 2012 at 9:56 pm #110348MutleyMemberNot sure how I missed seeing Daisy’s first update in her new home last May! Delighted to see how well she has settled (does she like guinea pigs as much as Mac the Scottie? Actually, I doubt that somehow!! ). Looking forward to updates!
