Name: Cassie
Reference Number: 934
Sex: Female
Located: Ashton Pound
Found:
Date Out: 23rd October 2009
Poor Cassie is in a very bad way, she was dumped at Ashton after closing hours on Saturday. The next morning staff saw her but she was so terrified she ran off. Later on that morning she was found hiding under a tree. Her eyes were glued together with yellow gunge, she is full of milk, has very bad mange or flea allergy, and has cuts all over her. All she did was sit very quietly while Ann aka Jenny cleaned out her eyes so she could see. She knew she was safe now.
No sign of her puppies so most likely she was dumped after they got a few pups from her.
The photos don’t convey how badly mistreated she is.
I hope whoever let her get in such a bad way rots in hell.October 20, 2009 at 5:23 pm #84961YvonneMMemberI saw this girl on Sunday with Ricardo. Honestly she is in a horrendous state. So sad to see, she just stood there and let the pound staff examine her. God love her, all of us milling around with the other doggies. Not a peep out of her. She looks exhausted and broken… poor pet

October 20, 2009 at 7:10 pm #84600JennyMemberUnfortunately photographs can’t show the terrible condition poor Cassie is in but for all that she remained quiet and good natured while we did what we could for her. She appears to have such a bad flea infestation that she had drawn blood from scratching. Her eyes are badly infected – she has many cuts and grazes and she is full of milk having recently had puppies which no doubt will be sold for a small fortune.

Poor girl, she is probably really missing her babies as well. I hope there is an extra happy ending for this girl. Fingers crossed someone can help her.
October 20, 2009 at 10:41 pm #86107elaine136MemberMy boyfriend was out for a run by the canal on Sunday morning and saw a dog matching the description of this girl, as I had seen her up at the pound getting seen to. Sure to be it’s the same dog. He’s delighted to see she’s getting help as he was very concerned about her, she had a straggly rope around her neck and sprinted off as soon as he approached her…..he continued his run and found another dog in need in the Phoenix park which we have in foster with us now, she’s snoring on the couch as I write this I hope Cassie makes a speedy recovery our hearts go out to her, she’s a beautiful girl.

October 21, 2009 at 9:19 pm #87718martinacareyMemberPoor Cassie, It’s so heartbreaking to see a dog in such a horrible condition. We still have Kuma, another akita that was in bad condition with us but we’ll gladly take her when Jimmys off in two weeks and nurse her back to health.
October 22, 2009 at 8:46 am #87722JennyMemberMany thanks Martina, she was so good when we tried to help her on Sunday last – she deserves so much better.

October 24, 2009 at 5:51 pm #88985martinacareyMemberWe went to see Cassie on Thursday and it was so sad, the poor girl is in such a bad way I just wanted to take her home there and then. I hope she stays strong while she’s in there til we can get her out.
October 24, 2009 at 5:54 pm #88986animalhelperMemberCassie looks so much better than she did last week. Her eyes are clearing up, her skin looks to be a bit better and her cuts are healing. She is in much better form and was wagging the tail today. She looked so much happier. It just shows how trusting dogs are…. it’s amazing to see. She’s a trooper.
October 24, 2009 at 5:54 pm #88987JennyMemberShe’s in great form Martina – waiting patietly for her chance at a new life. Many thanks to you and Jimmy.
October 25, 2009 at 8:26 pm #89012ladlesMemberI met Cassie close up today, lovely dog with a very gentle temperament. She seems to get on well with other dogs.
October 30, 2009 at 6:43 pm #89178martinacareyMemberWe were supposed to be collecting Cassie tomorrow but something has come up so it’ll be Sunday when we can take her out so give her hugs and kisses from us til we see her Sunday.
