April 21, 2010 at 4:01 pm #97186wivMemberHi there, the one I went to is in the pavillions shopping centre, swords. It’s in a room at the back of mothercare. My friend and I went and both had our dogs (a cairn and a mini-schnauzer) done in one sitting, some of them together and some of them on their own. We had a choice of backgrounds, blankets to sit on/baskets to sit in etc.. They ask you what photo you would like as your €10 picture and you are obliged to buy this one and pay for it in advance, the one I thought would look best didn’t look all that great at all when I saw it (the lighting was crap and Alf looked awful in it as it was very close up-it was the only photo that didn’t look nice) but My friend and I both bought a complete set of one other photo which is another medium/large photo, a small/medium photo and 4 wallet size ones. Each set cost €55, you also have the option to buy fridge magnets frames-€3, keyring frames €3 and photo frames- €20 per set.
A word of warning: They took about 20 gorgous photos of Alfie and it was sooo hard to choose just one. I don’t think I would’ve been able to see them and just walk away with my one €10 photo, particularly because it wasn’t half as nice as the other ones! They told me that they’ll keep all the other pictures for one year and then dispose of them ib case I want to go back and get more. I suppose the €10 photo is just the lure to get you in for a session.
Another friend of mine saw pixi-photo in Tesco Clare-hall-they regularly do photo sessions in shopping centres and asked if they’d do her dog. They said that they’d do it on the last time slot on the last day they’d be there as they’d have to wash the props after the dog.
If you’re willing to splash out I also had my boxer done in Richard Gavin studio on the Malahide Road. He did a super job, had a big studio for him to run around and the photos and backgrounds were a little bit classier than pixi photo.
Hope this helps,
YvonneApril 21, 2010 at 8:56 pm #97199DogsBestFriendMemberTks mil for all that info Yvonne! Im just going to digest it and make decision as to which place I will go to – knowing us, it will prob end up being the dearer of the two! I know exactly what u mean, about the one ten euro photo being the carrot to lure you in and even though you’ve forewarned me about this, I’m sure I will be exactly the same on the day! Will have to have a think about it though before I decide – its one of those things I’ve been planning to do for literally the past couple of yrs now and never got round to it, but with Roxy’s arrival to the family, we’d love to get some new ones done now with all three of them – she’s still so very nervous though so not sure if she would be ready for that kinda environment just yet, but we’ill get there! O.H. will be doing his nut at the thoughts of more money being spent, as have just ordered Roxy the same luxurious bed that our other two have, 75 sterling and another 15 quid shipping (she’s well worth it!) – she keeps getting into Harry’s bed and sitting on top of his head as its a nicer bed than her own one at the mo! (She cant fit into our other dal’s bed as there’s not enough room there, but with Harry being a beardie/terrier, there’s plenty of room for her!!!!)….. Anyways, thanks again, will let you know how we go!

April 22, 2010 at 6:38 pm #97229wivMemberHope the photos are gorgeous wherever you go!! by the way if I had to choose between the two and disregarding the cost I’d definitely go for Richard Gavin, he even threw me in a free small print of Harry after I bought 2 (quite expensive) large ones.
