Apollo is doing great he is still as adventurous as ever , but he is so cool and independent i do have to laugh at him sometimes  . I brought the pups outside the front garden for something different and Apollo was the first to step out the door ( kept thinking one small step for humans one giant step for puppy’s ) They had a great time with all the kids on my road and Apollo didn’t want to come in :) .
    Im finished as well !!.JPG

    Hi All

I just wanted to let you all know how I am getting on.

I was adopted 5 weeks ago from Dogs in Distress and my name was Apollo.

My owners spent weeks deciding on a name and, while they liked my given name, wanted something shorter (and one that I might someday respond to!!!) Ha!!!

I live by the sea and I wasn’t too sure of the water for a long time. The waves still scare me. As you can see from one of the photos, I prefer to let my owner get things out of the water for me………..well, he does tend to be the one throwing the things in there in the first place!!

I have a friend who tolerates me, MacDuff, he is much older and can sometimes get fed up with my constantly trying to get him to play. I am working on him though.
I do have one friend who plays with me. His name is Otis and he says he is a superior being but I hear my owners refer to him as something called ‘a cat’. We run and play together until I get too rough. He is lucky that he can jump up high!!

I am really loved though, for all my faults. I don’t always want to ‘go’ outside. I am led by my stomach and am not too fussy about what I eat (I wouldn’t really recommend mop heads, and dried egg noodles are just that, a bit dry)

I LOVE blackberries, strawberries and raspberries and as you can see from the photo, can now pick my own!!

Thank you for finding me my new family and I hope my brothers are settled with their new families too.

    Love DASH (formally Apollo)

    Hi Everyone

The format for sending emails and pictures on my computer has changed, so hopefully you will get these.

I am just letting you know how things have been since I last updated you.

I am getting really quite big now but you wouldn’t know it from the pictures. My new Mom says that she has to photograph me beside my cousin Enzo (above) to measure how I’m growing. I don’t think I will ever be as big as him. Well my Mom hopes not!!!

We are the best of friends, I absolutely idolise him, he is so big and cool and there is lots of hair to hold on to. He is really very patient with me.

There are 8 of us cousins altogether and we get on very well. I can be a little overwhelmed when we are all together and have to have rests, but people are always picking me up so I get plenty of cuddles and rests until I just HAVE to get down again and join the action! Two of my dog cousins came from Dogs in Distress just like me!!

I am getting a little better at ‘going’ outside, they take me out so often, I don’t have much choice!! I have worked out that they won’t bring me in until I do something so now I just get on with it!! I do not like going out in the rain or getting my feet wet, even on the grass!

I got a new toy the other day and I have to tell you it is the greatest toy ever! It doesn’t have stuffing in the middle but has a squeaker at both ends and I spend my day carrying it around and squeaking it. I keep tripping over it especially when I am being chased. But it is just like talking…………MacDuff says it gives him a headache!

Otis, my cat friend, is a little miffed with me these days. His sense of humour must be a bit different from mine, he was lying on his back (as we were play-fighting) and I thought it would be cool to drag him around the kitchen by his ear…………he lost his tail in an accident, before I came, so his ear was all I had to work with! He still biffs me with his paw as I pass but I know he is only trying to get my attention again………….just wait.

    Love to everyone ………..

It’s me again and I am just writing to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas.

As you can see I do not find if funny to be dressed up in a silly hat and told to sit…………..not something that comes naturally to me at all!!

I did appreciate the toy to chew though………..something that does come naturally to me!!

I will write a letter after Christmas to tell you all my news but for now have a great holiday ………………..

Love seeing how dash is getting on, he looks like he is having the great time!!! He is a carbon copy of my DID dog Taz, who is actually 2 today!! We dont know his exact birthday but we put it down as being Dec 17th!!

Anyway looking at photos of Dash as a puppy remind me of Taz as a puppy, this is what Taz looks like now, just thought id share it with you.

We never did find out what mix of breed he is, do you have any idea??

    Hi Everyone

    A month since Christmas already!!
I had a lovely first Christmas but it was having so many people around me ALL the time that I particularly liked!!
The food was good too but my family are quite strict about not giving me treats, which is a pity. I stand there looking my sweetest and often offer them one of my toys but no!!
So I then have to go and take it out on Otis……just cause he’s there!! Otis is learning to stand up to me now, which isn’t as much fun.

I was sent to the vets last week for my operation. At first I used to love going to see him as he petted me and made a fuss of me. Now he’s not so nice!! Not to self……….be wary of him.
Trouble is I am so friendly, I sometimes forget!!

I have become much stronger now, I am 7 months old.

I have not really grown too much bigger of late, at least not too noticeably, but my energy levels and strength have shot up!!
I now chew with REAL purpose.
Remote controls, baskets, place mats the list is endless. I am given bones and toys constantly but there is much more fun to be had in the forbidden.

At Christmas, the family were going to do shopping for a few hours, so they put us in the utility room ……they said it was to cut down the area of destruction????????????
They even gave us bones to chew.
Well, it was Christmas, so I ate Duffs’ bed (really nice one it is/was too, not any more!!) I also upended the recycling bin and tossed everything about and chewed it all up, then as I had a little time left I destroyed the door frame and emptied the clean washing from the washing machine, that one of the kids had left open.
I actually ran out of time and forgot to eat the bone, would you believe???!!!!

My body is quite long…..Sian (my human sibling) says I am like a slinky. I often ‘slink’ down after one of my toys, when it falls from the sofa, and forget to bring my back legs with me! I still have enormous front paws like those on the old baths that claw outwards. My body is so long that I sometimes sleep curled backwards and to see me is quite disconcerting!!

We think I am part Basset hound, part Dachshund and maybe a distant bit of Doberman and probably everything else in-between! I did tell you before about there being a Labrador stomach inside me. But despite all that concoction of breeds, I work and look nice and draw a lot of attention when I go out.

So that is it. Attached is a photo of me running at my usual speed……….FAST, only one mode really. As I need to get back in the hopes of going again!!

    Talk to you again.

    Love Dash

Fantastic to hear how you are getting on in your new home…your transgresssion period sounds exactly like my two! They loved eating their beds, my mothers dogs beds and pretty much everything in sight anytime they were left for a few hours.

You look really cool in your photo! Like Taz’s lil brother!

    Well ‘Hi’ Everyone.

It has been a few months since I last wrote and not much has happened.

I am still as mad as ever and life is all about having fun, fun, fun!! So my owners think that maybe the vet operated on the wrong dog!!!??
I certainly have not calmed down…………………why should I, when I have 3 cats to terrorise and a house to wreck.
MacDuff, the other dog, has taken to biting his nails for some unknown reason.

As you can see from the pictures, this is just one day in the life of ‘Dash’……….actually most of this work took place in about the space of an hour or so!!
My human Mum has to clean-up and pick-up roughly 3 to 4 times a day.
This afternoon I made a little mess inside the door, as you can see. That is quite normal. I chew everything still but my favourite is the ‘duck’ you see me carrying………..I have neatly undone the stitching and de-stuffed it.

My human Mum has had enough of buying me toys and much to my horror and disgust she has taken to putting the stuffing back in so I have to start all over again!!

The other picture is of me helping to dig up the leeks in the garden, I’m not actually sure they wanted them up but …..well anyway. The other picture is when I ‘flop’ which I do every now and again for 30 seconds!! Just to get my breath back and to think up what to do next!!

I have stopped growing upwards, we think….hope. I am very long though and my human sister calls me ‘LongDog’.
I can reach the bins and open them, so that usually fills in a few hours when I have nothing else to do.
They now have to feed the cats somewhere else other than the Utility Room counter-top as I can get myself into the Belfast sink at a run!!
I can also get myself over the half-door so that has to be kept closed if they want me to stay in!!! Now THAT is some trick!!! Took some practice and there isn’t a lot of paint left either.

Other than that, I am happy all the time and even when I do something I shouldn’t, no-one can stay mad for long. If I have done something wrong I get one of my toys and give it to them, in fact if I present a toy to them……….. they don’t take it immediately but look past me to see what has happened first!! If I flip onto my back with a toy in my mouth then that usually means that the damage is particularly bad!!

    Who says dogs can’t talk!!!

So ‘bye’ for now, but before I go I must tell you that now I can chase rabbits! Great fun but you have to be out early in the mornings to get them!!

    Love to all Dash

    Hi Everyone

Time to let everyone know that I am still alive and kicking…………..I am now one year old!!

I was one at the end of last month and am calming down a little, finally. But do still have moments of total lunacy!

I am finished growing,we all hope!! And you can see from my photos, I am very handsome indeed and draw attention wherever I go. As much sometimes for my behaviour as for my looks……….

I definitely have a bit of Dashound in me, I am llloooonnnnggg and very needy!! I believe that that is a trait associated with them. It is ALL about ME!!

You can see my all-time favourite toy in the pictures. I go everywhere with it and of all the stuff I have, and there is a lot!!, this is my favourite.
I sit on chairs and drop it to the floor and stare down at it (as seen in one of the pictures) until someone picks it up for me. I often bark at it in my super-deep voice, but as yet I haven’t been able to train it to get back up by itself!

My dog brother, Duff, is getting quite old now and I am still a bit mean to him, I’m afraid.
All hell can break loose if he so much as looks at one of my toys. But my owners have worked out ways of making sure that we both get everything equally with as little fuss as possible, which sometimes can mean that they throw my things and give Duff his at their feet. The activity excites me and keeps me busy so I don’t always notice that he is also getting stuff.

I need lot of walks and love them, especially if we happen to meet another dog or two. I am off and will play until, more often than not, the other dog has to be carried home!!
But my cousin dog, ENZO, is still my best friend.

Last month we were entered into different sections of the local summer dog show, my first time to be shown!!
My owners were a bit worried about me going there as I sometimes misbehave, unintentionally, with excessive sensory overload!!
But once I saw Enzo I was completely oblivious to everything else around me. We played and cuddled and I love to chew on him.
By the time Enzo had to go to be shown, all chances of him winning anything were gone, as he was nothing more than a soggy mess and every time he passed where I was sitting he had to be pulled away.
I for my part whined and pulled to try and get to him……………….people stopped looking at the dog show and started to watch us!

I came third in the ‘dog you would most like to take home’ section, they obviously needed glasses!! I should have won, mind you I was also more than a little worse for wear too!! I had a good day and my rosette tasted lovely!

So hope all my dog brothers are well and in good form.

    Love to everyone at DiD
