We’ve just adopted Dora who you may have seen before here – viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4008

We collected her from her foster mother Shirley (think there may have been a few tears….) this evening. Although Dora was upset too she was great in the car right up till we pulled in front of the house and she erupted!!!

She and our dog Honey have played for the last hour since we got back to the house. We thought they would have tired each other out by now but no such luck.

We’ll keep you updated as to how Dora is doing and a big thank you to Shirley and family (particularly Cathal) for all the good work they’ve done with her. A big thanks also to Suzi and Fidelma and all at Dogs in Distress for all their work.

Well Dora is nearly a full week in her new home and we’re having a great time.

We considered changing her name at first but once she started responding to her name we started getting used to Dora.

She’s getting on great with her new sister Honey except that Honey likes to eat her food quickly and then try and eat Dora’s food but we’re finding ways around it.

Dora’s training is going really well, so well that when she did her business out the back this evening she immediately ran over looking for a treat!!

She’s had some adventures in the car this week including when Honey got her last vaccinations, both aren’t quite used to the car yet but they’re getting there. We had a bad journey home which meant that both Honey and Dora needed a bath!!!

Dora also got a lovely collar and tag this week and this really pleased Honey as she could grab Dora’s collar when they were playing and not just the other way around.

Dora has lots of chewing toys that she shares with Honey and thankfully it saves the furniture. The Christmas decorations went up yesterday though and poor Mr. Snowman had to go in the bin this evening after Honey and Dora took him for a brisk walk around the kitchen!

Although Dora is still a bit of an explorer she’s more like Dora the Cuddler, she loves nothing more than cuddling up to her Mammy and Daddy while Honey does the adventuring.

Honey is free to go adventuring outside from tomorrow so hopefully Dora can get her final vaccinations soon and we can have a family trip out.

Thanks again to all at Dogs in Distress and particularly Dora’s foster mammy Shirley.

Hope you all like the pictures.

Hey. Dora is getting on great. We spent 3 weeks up the mountain s over the christmas. Although we weren’t too happy to be snowed in Dora loved the snow, although some days it was so deep she was nearly covered!! Back home 4 days now and they have our back garden dug up completely, lots of muck everywhere.

Dora is getting bigger and is a good bit bigger than Honey even though Honey is five weeks older.

As I’m typing here they are chasing each other around the coffee table, it’s hilarious and dizzying to watch, I don’t know how they haven’t fallen over yet.

Both Honey and Dora got new collars today – which was out of necessity rather than planning. When we went for a walk this morning Honey managed to break her old collar off her while trying to chase another dog.

So off to the shops with us to buy new collars and mammy chose pink ones which I think we like. They had another walk this evening and the leather collars showed no signs of breaking, even under pressure.

We hope to have pictures up so you can all see how Dora is doing. Bye for now!

We got the call this evening for Dora to go and get spayed so it’s off to the vet tomorrow with her for an adventure.

Honey had the job done just over a month ago and was fine by the next day.

Dora is getting really big – a good bit taller and longer than Honey.

Here are a few pics of them this evening…..

Everybody keep their fingers crossed for Dora tomorrow, she’s a little baby at the best of times so she’ll need some extra tlc after tomorrow!!

Well Dora came back this afternoon and is way better than we thought she’d be.

She only had one stitch and is not as drowsy as Honey was. We’ll keep the two of them separate tonight and hopefully she’ll be 100% before long!
