Adoption Application Form

Dogs in Distress Registered Charity Number CHY 16481

Application Form

You must be over 21 years of age to adopt a dog from Dogs in Distress. The head of the household signs the Dogs in Distress adoption papers and takes legal responsibility for the dog.

Garden Security

Dogs in Distress require a minimum garden fence height of 5.5ft; this is to ensure that when the dogs goes into the garden he is totally safe. If you have a garden please be sure your fence meets this requirement before completing the adoption form.

Home visit

A home visit from a Dogs in Distress volunteer will take place. Please note that adoption decisions are not made based on who has seen the dog first or who has completed an application the earliest. The well-being of the dog is our paramount concern and dogs will be placed with the best available home.

Donation

The minimum adoption donation to DID is €300. Dogs are re-homed wormed, microchipped neutered/spayed*, and with their 1st vaccination as a minimum. This donation does not cover the total cost of the veterinary treatment. Most receive much more medical care to bring them back to health. None of this donation goes toward administration costs. Please take this into consideration when making a donation to us.

Neutering in pups

*Pups less than 6 month old can’t be neutered/spayed. Those who adopt a pup of under 6 months must commit to having the pup neutered/spayed at 6 months by the Dogs in Distress vet (location permitting). Just a €50 donation is requested to part fund this once the dog is old enough to be neutered/spayed.
