Well its been awhile but here’s an update on Sheeba! Shes still the same little gem, have had no problems with her since she came to us. We had a very busy xmas with visitors over from abroad and she was in her element with all the attention! she got lots of gifts from family and friends, treats and balls! Her favorite place now is on her memory foam mat in front of the fire. I think if she could be in the fire she would as she lies right up against it. Shes smart though as when she gets too hot she will walk around the back of the couch to cool down then goes back to her spot by the fire! Shes still enjoying long walks down the river and in the forest, she will just trot along beside you with her ball in her mouth!

Sheeba is very good in the car, she will just sit and wag her tail while looking out the window!

Apologies for the lack of update on Sheeba but here is her progress!

She is the most loving dog I have come across, she has a lot of fans here! She loves people and just wants to be with people all the time. In saying that however she doesn’t cry when you leave the room or go crazy, she will just go to her bed and chill out. Her favorite position is her tummy over someone’s foot for a good rub! She’s very patient with children and will give them a sniff and then pretty much ignore them. She still hasn’t met our cat in person but she has seen her from the other side of a glass door. She’s more interested in what we are doing behind the cat than the cat in this situation! I would still suggest she go to a forever home with no cat as I don’t think she’s sure what they are or what to do with them.

She LOVES tennis balls! Once she has a tennis ball she will be kept occupied for hours, she loves to walk around the house with a ball in her mouth wagging her tail showing everyone what she has. I invested in an indestructible ball and this has lasted a good two weeks now(she gives tennis balls an average hour of life!). When people come to the house she gets very excited at the prospect of a new friend! She runs and gets the first toy she can find then runs up to the visitor to show them, she won’t jump up but will walk up to them and around in circles wagging her tail!

When out walking she has no problem with any dogs she meets. She gives them a sniff then ignores them. We took her for a walk with two other dogs(photos above)and again she was more interested in the tennis ball. She was happy to walk along in a group and would never stray away us.

We managed to get some additional information about her from her previous owner. She was a stray of about a year old when she was found and he put a lot of training and work into her. He had two young nieces so he trained her not to jump or fuss at children. She walks to heel and will come back when called. She is so well trained that even if you put a treat of toy in front of her and tell her to stay she won’t touch it until you tell her, she’s a dream! It’s unfortunate that New Zealand has banned these breeds because Sheeba is a star ambassador for Staffies! The only thing this staffie would do is kiss you to death! It will be very hard for us to see her go but I would love to see her in a forever home with people who could give her all the love were showering her with here!

We took Sheeba to the Liffey descent yesterday, she had a ball! She wags her tail and lets children pet her, she is very gentle with them, no jumping! She sniffed noses and was social to all the dogs she met and when a retriever showed aggression to her she backed away, she’s such a sweet natured dog! We also walked with her through the festival in the village today, a lot of people and noise but she was happy as Larry. Lots of children petting and pulling at her and she was patient as can be with them! Sniffed noses with the dogs she met and that was all. Fast asleep on the couch now after a tiring day!

Steph here, sheebas foster mammy. we picked her up this morning from the pound. We walked her down the river when we got back and came across one dog which she didn’t really pay any mind to. She was great on the lead, only pulled to get to the smells she couldn’t resist! She found a dog toy out in our back room that a friend had left behind when he was there with his dog and she took a great liking to it! I can tell you now that shes trained, she can sit, stay and leave it. Haven’t introduced her to our cat yet but will update when we do tomorrow. She’s a beautiful dog with the temperament to match!
