Troy is now known as Kumo and he is the best pup in the whole world! (I may be slightly biased). I have fostered before and didn’t expect to fall so in love but the decision to keep him was not a hard one to make; he slotted perfectly into my life and makes me so happy. I couldn’t imagine parting with him! All my family and friends love him too and there is always a line of people whenever I need someone to mind him. He goes to doggy day care twice a week which he LOVES and they love him! We had a great Christmas with tons of walks and cuddles by the fire; he’s a very happy dog. I’m so grateful to DID for sending him my way!

Troy has been with us for a couple of weeks now and has finally gained the necessary weight and confidence to be ready for his forever home! I bring him everywhere for maximum socialisation and it’s easy because he’s so good; he even came to a (quiet) pub for an evening and was perfectly behaved as he accepted the heaps of adoration from everyone at the surrounding tables and had a long nap. He’s a great coffee companion and will just lie on your lap even if there are other dogs or loud noises around you. We have occasionally left him alone for a few hours at a time and he will cry a little bit but then settles down to play with his toys or sleep so you won’t have to worry about coming back to a destroyed house (you will, however, have to be prepared for an ecstatic welcome involving a lot of licking). Troy is really super smart and learnt sit and paw in no time; because of his whippet breeding he is also incredibly fast and agile so I think he would be amazing for someone who is interested in getting into agility training. More pictures soon :)

Troy had his first visit with the vet yesterday to get his shots and he got on great; they weighed him and he’s put on about 2kg’s since got him 2 weeks ago and is growing like mad! The vet confirmed he’s about 3-4 months and in good health. I really don’t know how such a lovely puppy was wandering on his own and left in the pound to die; it breaks my heart to think of it. He made friends with everyone in the waiting room (2 legged and 4 legged alike) and was good as gold on the examination table. He’s such a gorgeous pup that people can’t help but smile. He has to go back for his second round of shots in 2 weeks and then he’ll be ready to take on the world!

Troy really is a joy to have around; he’s a happy, playful, cuddly pup and his housetraining is going very well. He’s proven himself several times now to be excellent with kids; he seems to know to be gentle around them and doesn’t get nearly as boisterous as he does with us. He loves long walks and will bound around with seemingly endless energy until you get home when he’ll immediately fall fast asleep for hours.

I’m attaching a picture of Troy meeting his cat sibling at my parents house and one of him posing in his new ‘adopt me’ vest!

Troy has made some new friends this week; I brought him home to his foster ‘grandparents’ to meet his cat siblings and he did great, very sweet and gentle. I suspect he’d do great living with confident cats (he has a tendency to chase because he thinks it’s a game but he would learn quickly with a whack and would never bite). He also hung out with an 8 year old girl for an evening, running around outside and then snuggling up with her on the couch, he was the perfect kids best friend! He’s even managed to bring round a few self professed ‘dog ambiguous’ people with his sweet, unobtrusive nature. He really is an amazing dog for anyone; as any foster parent does I dream of him going to a house with a garden, other dog friends and endless cuddles on tap although I also think he would do great as a companion dog for a single person who likes to go for walks and watch tv in the evenings. That’s it from us tonight, Troy is indicating it’s bedtime with some gentle snoring… :)

Troy/Kumo has had a great weekend and is doing really well. He’s such an affectionate dog that loves to sit on your lap and be held so he would be great for anyone that is looking for a dog to snuggle up with and watch TV. He also loves his walks though and is very good on the lead for such a young pup. We go down to the Memorial Gardens every day which he loves and he has been really good with every other dog he has met; he is very curious and friendly but also submissive and not too ‘in your face’ like puppies can be so I’d say he could easily fit in with a home with another dog. He has a special love for playing in dirt and will roll around in it in delight! He is a little bit nervous of passing cars and busses but he’s very brave and getting better every day. His house training is going well and he sleeps easily through the night (I have to wake HIM up every morning to go out!). He slept on his own on his bed on the floor for the first time last night and he was very good (the two nights before I had gone to sleep with him in his bed and woken up with him having snuck up onto my bed and snuggled in beside me). He’s a joy to have around who loves everyone he meets and will be an amazing addition to any household.
