    Well lucky little Benji,
he is going to have a great life with his new family. He reminds me of Benny (Elijah) a Shihtzu we fostered a couple of years ago. He has that same cheeky look. Im sure he will bring you hours of fun along with the gang. Congralulations Angela and Co :) :) :)

Thanks Angela, well he was looking very smart alright until he went out for a walk this evening and had a lovely roll in some pooh !!!! Gerry said he got up and raced around the place as happy as anything . So it was home and into the kitchen sink for him. I did feel a bit sorry for him as he really doesnt seem to like the water at all, but it had to be done. He loves the dryer and lies there like a lord. The groomer was a bit over zealous with the cut but it grows very fast so he will be fine in a week or so, he is definately feeling the cold poor chap.

Apart from todays antics all has been well. Abby and scrappy still have their mad times where they do laps of the house. It is so funny they literally go mad, chasing up the stairs. Scrappy gets under the bed upstairs and abby doesnt really fit, well not at speed :) :) :) then they come tearing down the stairs and around the living room and back up again if they are not stopped. Scrappy has this mad skip when he runs its so funny. So all in all things with the little man and Abby are all well. Its like he was always here, he fits in so well. Mad as a hatter like us all :D :D :D :D

Hi folks, Scrappy here. I’m living here now a long time, 3 months I think I heard. I’m really happy here with my sister Abby. She is great fun and we have some great fun tearing around the house and making a mess !!! I keep getting called "trouble". Sure look at me how could I be trouble ;) ;) Its just that I am learning lots from Abby and have a few tricks of my own. When we are eating rawhide bones, we keep swapping and hiding them around the house, its great fun really.
Poor Abby got hurt the other day when we were out for a walk. She has big long Dew claws and when she was skidding along after the ball she must have banged it or caught it on something becasue it got broken and was bleeding and hanging off. It looked really yuk    Poor Abby looked very sad. It was night time so the folks put a bandage on it until the next morning when she had to go to the vet. I dont like those vets, so glad it wasnt me.
Gerry came back without her and told me she had to stay there for a few hours and would be back later. I really missed her, but kept a lookout for when she would come back.

When she came back she had a big bandage on her paw and was really sleepy and sad looking so I was good and just had a look at it, then we both had a nice sleep together. I minded her. ;) ;)

She is much better now and we are back playing and getting into trouble again. I have to get groomed again on Thursday. I dont really like getting brushed and stuff. Mary gives me a brush and comb most days, so I dont get matted whatever that is. So because I dont like it I sort of whine and whimper a bit and Abby barks at Mary telling her to stop. Its a great trick ;) ;) ;)

We went to the park today for a change as there is too much rubbish up on the green. I love it cos there is lots of nice smells there !!! But the park is cleaner and Abby has a big run and my lead is let out fully so I can have a ramble around. I am not allowed off the lead as the folks say I would run off and not come back. I dont think I would because the first time I did that I got really scared. I will have to be good and maybe then they will give me a chance. Sometimes I just get distracted too. Like one day on the green there was this really really big lump of bread. A french stick or something it was called, which is silly cos it was bread !!!! Anyway Gerry took it off me. Spoil sport :x :x :x
I will let you all know how the grooming goes, hope she doesnt make me all smelly again. I didnt like it, and Mary kept sneezing, so no smelly powder for me.

    Hi there,

Well Mr. Scrappy has been here with us now for just over 2 months. He has definately settled in and is very much at home. He follows Abby around like a little lamb and sometimes she gives him a look that seems to say "Give me a break", but never gets mad with him.

They have great fun playing outside and will chase around like two lunatics for ages and then come inside and sleep for ages. They are both dogs who love their comfort and warmth.

Yesterday when Scrappy was out on his walk with Gerry, he decided to have a good old dig in some lovely black soot that was left after a bonfire. So he came home looking like a little chimney sweep. We wiped and brushed the heavy stuff off but it meant he needed a wash, which we had not done before.

So today into the water with scrappy and a good wash for him. it is so different the feel of his wet hair and harder to lather up . He hated the water near his face so I only got to do that a little. I put him outside for a few minutes so he could have a good shake and then towel dried him and then the brushing and blow drying started. Its quite a lenghty process with a bichon but I think I managed ok. He had no knots as I brushed him through before the wash. So just dried him thoroughly and brushed and combed him through. It is time consuming so we had little breaks for treats. I want him to associate this with something nice. This is something anyone taking on a Bichon should know. Unless you are prepared to pay a groomer every time a wash is needed, which would be very expensive.

It was funny when I was doing it as we had a miniature poodle when I was very young and remember combing her after a wash and it was the very same routine, one bit at a time carefully and slow.

When I was finished he ran around like a crazy thing. Up and down the stairs and in and out. He is so funny when he does this. He gets real excited and skips when he runs. He then settled down and had a big sleep.

He likes to sleep upstairs with us, so we have his bed here and he doesnt make a move all night. He is very good with his toileting. Since he was neutered he has only once done a wee in the house, he is very good otherwise and goes to the door if he needs to go out.

He is a great little eater and is not at all fussy which is great , so we often put some veg and potato in with his feed for a bit of variety.

I am enclosing a picture I took tonight. Scrappy loves to be where he can see everything so often lies on the arm of a chair, or on the back as you have seen in other pictures.

    Niamh,

I dont know if I could have been as strong as you today. That special girl landed with you for a reason. I do believe this. Her last few days were of love and warmth, which she badly needed to ease her passing. I know you are a very warm hearted person and understand you being broken hearted. I shed tears reading your post and can only imagine how you are feeling , but take comfort from the kindness you did for the special girl Bella . She passed peacefully being held by a very special person.

I had to put this up, the two little terrors last night, it was so cold. Abby got into Scrappys bed, then he got in and they snuggled up to keep warm. So cute !!!!!

Archie is looking very handsome, and cute as a button too. So different from the original picture of him. TLC, a warm bed and some good food and look at the difference. A very happy looking chap.

I really had to add these few pictures. Abby always had a mad excited time every night around 9. Now we have two lunatics having a mad time, but so much fun. It only makes me reinforce the fact that dogs love a friend.

    Hi,
Well Mr. Scrappy went to the Groomer on Friday. She said he was very nervous at first but calmed down after a while. She did a great job on him I think. He just looks cheekier all soft and fluffy. Is is normal for dogs to be dusted with powder after a grooming ? We were all sneezing for a while after. Every time Abby went near him to investigate she sneezed, it was very funny.

Scrappy is well settled in now and thinks he owns the house and all in it. He loves going out in the garden and sniffing around for ages. But at the same time he loves his comfort. He is a real snuggler and gets himself really cosy and sleeps for ages in between play and walks. I love to see what position he will end up in, usually with all four legs in the air and stretched out on his back, or if cool he curls up real tight to keep warm. I dont think the hair cut bothers him , feeling cold or anything.

Scrappy has no fear of anything now and is quite happy to go up to abby and try and take a toy or rawhide bone from her. This is the only time Abby gives out to him, but he just keeps trying.

I find we have to be quite firm with him as he really will take advantage if let away with anything and as he is a real foodie it is easy to use a reward system on him. We have been working on some of his little "issues", as directed by Emmaline and he is doing well.

Below are some pictures of the little monkey all clean and fluffy.

    Hi there,

This is scrappy here tonight. Well its just 4 weeks since I came to live with my human family and my sister Abby. It was all very strange at first getting used to my new house and people and my sis. In the beginning Abby kept giving me funny things. They looked like animals , long ones, short ones, hairy ones, rubber ones but one one had a squeak. I liked that one   I only learnt that I can play with them with Abby. I didnt know about these "toy" things before and now we have great fun chasing around with them and wrestling . Abby is much bigger than me and at first I thought she would eat me with her big jaws cos when we played my head fitted in her mouth   But she has promised me she is only playing and will never hurt me on purpose. Anyway if she does I will nip her ear and run !!!!

Sometimes we sleep together, but that gets very hot so we stretch out on the floor to cool down. At night I sleep in my lovely little bed that Mum told me a lady called Kathy said I could keep. Thanks Kathy ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I dont really cry anymore when people go out of the room because they always come back. I didnt know this in the beginning, it was a bit confusing. I do like to bark a lot when I am not getting attention. These people should really be talking to me all the time. Last weekend some people came to stay and they were very busy talking so I just had to keep barking to remind them I was here. I got in trouble and my Mum said she would have to do something about this behaviour !!!! Dunno what that meant. Abby does it too but im only little and have to do it for longer, well just because !!!

This morning we were told, thats Abs and me that there was a lady coming to see us to put manners on us. I asked Abs if she knew what that was all about but she didnt. Then I remembered last weekend and wondered if thats what it was all about.

A lady called Emmaline came this evening and made me and Abs do lots of things that made us bark, and then put us in and out of the house, sometimes gave us sausages and sometimes not. Then I got it. If I was bold and barked at the bell or when the lady went to leave. I got put outside until I stopped then I got a bit of sausage. That was yummy  So it was in and out for ages and sausages and oh such a busy evening. In the end Emmaline said I was a very good dog and Abby too, and she went home. We didnt bark when she said goodbye cos we might get more sausages, and we did, hurrah !!!! Abby and me were very tired after this long lesson and had dinner and went to bed . We had a little chat and decided we liked the lady. Mum is cooking sausages tonight, I can smell them. So maybe tomorrow is going to be another busy day. We dont mind if we get sausages. ;) ;) ;)

So if you have a naughty dog , Emmaline is really nice and will help you give sausages to your dog and make them good. Its really good fun, but very tiring. So now Im off to bed to dream of nice things.

Thank you DID for my new home, my bed and the nice humans and sister I live with. Im a very happy little scrappy now. :D :D

    Hi,

Well Mr. Scrappy has made himself well and truly at home. No more jumps when there is a noise, now we get a bark !!! He is in and out and up and down like he owns the place, he is so funny. He is loving all the attention he is getting and all the people telling him he is gorgeous. He has decided to eat better and will now attempt to finish off Abby’s dinner if she dares leave her bowl . But she soon tells him off, so he barks at her. Its like a child always wanting the last word, thats our Scrappy.

I have brushed and combed him and he is fine after a while as long as I dont touch his face, he absolutely hates it. Unfortunately around his eyes and mouth do need a bit more attention which he doesnt like. But it has to be done and he is learning. Like Abby this wee fella loves his comfort. He will find the warmest most comfy spot and go fast asleep for ages, you can see this from below pics. The one on the chair on the fleece is so funny, The fleece was still warm from the dryer and put there for a bit while the bed was being made. Up he pops and closes the eyes, the cheeky monkey. Abby and him are doing fine and there are few cross noises between them now as they sort out their place.

Scrappy is off tomorrow to the vet to get stitches out and check up. I think there is only one stitch left and the wound looks well healed.
