So sorry to hear about Lucy, thank you so much Laura for looking after her so well. Her little life was short but made all the more longer and full of love with you and your family looking after her.
Sleep tight Lucy xxx
martinacareyMemberHere’s some more pictures of her having fun in the park with Kas.
martinacareyMemberKeiko is getting on well, her coat is so much thicker and darker now she looks great! She is getting spayed tomorrow and off to her new home next week. Here’s some updated pictures of her.
martinacareyMemberWell we had another little visitor staying with us for a few days, a little pom called Foxy. He was only around 8 months and loved to chase and play. Kas happily ignores puppys, they’re too young, delicate and energetic to play with for her. Keiko on the other hand welcomed this new "Toy" to play with being a big puppy herself. It was a bit of a crazy house sometimes when playing and chasing broke out. Foxy would try to get a game going then be afraid when Keiko started to chase him and hide under the table snarling at her. It was abit of a mismatch size wise so we had to calm it down a few times incase anyone got hurt but I think Keiko was abit afraid of him when he would be snapping and slapping her!
Keiko’s eyes were still looking abit sore and she still had alot of discharge coming out of them so she’s on drops to help them but she actually has entropian eyelids (they’re turning in and rubbing off her eye) so the vet said if they need to be corrected it can be done when she gets spayed, poor girl.
But after all the initial excitement of playing Keiko would go to her bed for a sleep and Foxy would watch her and when she was settled he’d wander over and lick her sore eyes clean and she’d just lie there with her eyes closed and let him, it was so cute. Then when he was finished he’d get back up on the couch and go asleep.
martinacareyMemberThis little man is now sorted with a foster but thanks so much for offering.
martinacareyMemberWell Keyko is getting on great, she had her second medicated bath the other day and the scratching has more or less nearly stopped completely. We’ve to bring her back to the vet Monday just to check if she needs another one. All the bald patches that were so bloody and sore from scratching are starting to grow hair back now and the wirey coat she had is getting so much softer now. I’ll post up some pics we took of herself, Kas and Kuma before she went.
martinacareyMemberAnd when we took another Akita out of the pound the three of them got on so well but it was time for Kuma to move on to her forever home. On her last night she played with the girls one last time.
martinacareyMemberThat’s great news, glad Jake is going to his forever home but I’m sure you will all miss him. Give him a hug and kiss goodbye from me, jimmy and the dogs!
martinacareyMemberKeyko is getting on great with our two other girls. I’ve some photos of her playing with Kuma I’ll post them up. She’s not scratching as much now after her medicated bath so hopefully that’ll help her skin.

Keyko has taken over the comfy bed
martinacareyMemberWe took Cassie (Who we’re now calling Keyko) home on Sunday. We took her straight out for a walk with Kas and Kuma to introduce them and it went well. She was crying a bit when we got her back to the house and was a little confused I’m sure. She got so upset when I went upstairs she was howling and crying probably not sure if I was coming back. We thought she might not settle last night when we went to bed but she was great not even a whimper. She’s stolen Kumas bed but Kuma doesn’t seem to mind, the two of them are getting on great playing the big puppys that they are! I had her at the vet today so I’ve been given a medicated wash for her skin, hopefully it’ll help with the itching.
martinacareyMemberWe were supposed to be collecting Cassie tomorrow but something has come up so it’ll be Sunday when we can take her out so give her hugs and kisses from us til we see her Sunday.
martinacareyMemberWe went to see Cassie on Thursday and it was so sad, the poor girl is in such a bad way I just wanted to take her home there and then. I hope she stays strong while she’s in there til we can get her out.
martinacareyMemberSo sorry to hear about Henry Kim, I only met him for thr first time at the fun day and he looked so great in his doggy tux. It’s never an easy decision to make but I know Henry is thankful you had the strength to make the right choice.
martinacareyMemberPoor Cassie, It’s so heartbreaking to see a dog in such a horrible condition. We still have Kuma, another akita that was in bad condition with us but we’ll gladly take her when Jimmys off in two weeks and nurse her back to health.
martinacareyMemberKuma got spayed today, I only picked her up an hour ago so she’s all groggy and doesn’t like the cone She was so happy to see me god love her and is fast asleep now so hopefully she perks up in the next few days.
