Hi all. Just to give you a little update on our Angel. She is absolutely ruling the roost here. She knows the routine, and is so clever. She is the happiest most affectionate dog ever. We get mugged every morning to give her hugs and rub her belly. She really is an angel in the car. She hops in and out of the boot with so much energy and when we are driving, she is as quiet as a mouse, just looking out the window every now and again but happy to lie quietly the rest of the time. She loves the beach, Donabate, Portrane, Bettystown, and the estuary at Malahide. We walk in Malahide castle and she is just full of life all the time. She is very contented and we all love her. We are very grateful to Dogs in Distress volunteers.
IMGP7077.JPGMariaOCMemberAngel is celebrating 20 days with us today. She is in brilliant form. She had an upset tummy last week, so I took her to see the vet. She was so well behaved and he was really impressed. She had a nail clipped and he weighed her so after giving me some medication for her she happily came home and by the next day she was right as rain. We did a long walk on Donabate beach in the rain one evening and she was in her 7th heaven. We let her off the lead and she was a bit slow to come back, but it was great. She was in a local park on Sunday and nose to the ground, she didnt see 2 rabbits ahead, but she could smell them, and she nearly had me in the ditch chasing the rabbits with her. She is getting used to visitors to the house, and only squeaky toys upset her these days. We are still trying to get her to play with a ball, and we are working on ‘sit’ and ‘stay’. She has a super deep bark, and she follows Sallys lead and barks at dogs going by. When she is out on the lead, she is great meeting other dogs. She still needs lots of hugs and belly scratches and we are only too happy to oblige.
MariaOCMemberAngel is one week with us today. She seems to be very happy and we are very happy with her. She thoroughly enjoyed her lamb bones you can see in the photo. Our walks are getting interesting because she is so strong and we are teaching her to stop before crossing the road. She is pretty good when we tell her to sit and she has been excellent travelling in the car. We all feel she has always been part of our family.
angel with a bone.JPGMariaOCMemberNews update. Angel is settling in here far better than we had ever hoped. She is barking, and exploring the garden, and joining us in the sitting room having a lovely big stretch. She is stronger on the lead and takes all my strength to keep her close. Right now she is in her bed beside me having a snooze after her walk. I got her a bone in the butchers, but it wasnt great, so she was not impressed. He will have some lamb bones on Thursday, so I will go back then. Angel has become one of the family, and thanks to Raj and Inge, she is very happy.
IMGP6944.JPGMariaOCMemberI am delighted to let you all know that Angel is settling in really well in her new forever home. Raj and Inge did such a wonderful job with her, she was able to come to us and remain confident and secure. We are so delighted she is a part of our family. We took her for a long walk in Malahide Castle grounds this morning with our old lady Sally. Angel has taken a shine to Sallys bed, but Sally does not mind. They both enjoy their food, and we play ball with Sally to encourage Angel to join in, but its early days. She did bark today which was amazing when she is only 30 hours with us. It was a lovely deep rich bark. Will post more photos soon.
