:D Note to say Nellie is settling very well with us, she and the other 3 dogs (one of them is Cassidy, another ex-Ashton girl – makes it sound like a posh boarding school) are getting along so far. Nellie and Dudley (Border Terrier) were tearing around last night with various toys, Nellie destroyed a tennis ball, then a rubber parsnip (it used to have a squeak in it but my old GSD removed that ages ago), she then got hold of twisted rope toy and so far that has survived. She still sleeps in a large crate at night (they all sleep in my room so she is not alone) and this morning was the first morning she didn’t want out the second I fell out of bed, the rest were still sleeping so she was following suit. She comes to work with me and is greatly admired by all who have met her. She clearly has built in springs in her paws, she can jump a fair old height with very little apparent effort. She has been on the sideboard twice, dining room table once and my desk at work 3 times, Nellie knows no fear! She eats with the other dogs and if she doesn’t finish her biscuits she will eat them if I take them from the dish (one or two at a time) and put them on the floor so she is eating her full meals just in a slightly odd way. For her first foster family, I have retained the Abi part of her name by combining Nellie and Abi (proper name is now Nellabi), the family call her Nellie and I tend to call her Nells. Tried to get a photograph last night but she had either left the shot altogether or just her tail was photographed as she was leaving the shot. We will stay in touch, and are delighted to have Nells live with us and long may our shared journey last a very long time.

Ashton seems to ge lots of super dogs dumped on them, wonder where they all come from. People need to stop breeding dogs and just re-home them from pounds and rescue centres and in reality there should not be any reason for pouns at all. Good luck Rossy

:D Has Nellie got a busy weekend planned? Puddles to run through? Wildlife to hunt down? Home and family to keep a check on? Resting, maybe with a bone and a nice bowl of water? Whatever you are up to Nellie, have a good time.

:D I have E-mailed an adoption form this morning so hope someone got it. I don’t think for one second I am the only person interested in this lovely little dog.

 Just noticed the post explaining Nellie’s/Abi’s interest in the family cat – great shame but not a surprise. Poor cat must be feeling a bit nervous and the dog must be feeling very interested and a tad frustrated! She is OK with other dogs isn’t she?

 Oh, I can feel myself being drawn towards an adoption form even as I type this. What was I going to be looking for at some point in the future, a small, female, terrier. I really can’t believe Abi has pitched up. :?

She really is a little cracker. I think all terriers can climb if they have a good enough reason. Cassie (Cassidy for anyone who remembers her) tried to climb up a tree after a squirrel one day, she managed to get up quite a way but the tree was too straight and the branches were out of her reach, thank goodness. I have no idea how I would have got her out of a tree. I have also seen a TV programme showing a JRT climbing quite a way up fir trees, so its not just Patterdales. I love terriers and she is a beauty. Wonder what she would be like living with other mutts?

:o Great images of Abi and her new best friend! You are quite right regarding not seeing too many Patterdales in dog pounds. I would say they are top of the terrier list, lots of exercise and stimulation and apparently they are very good at climbing (you know, over fences, out of enclosures etc). That said they really are fantastic little dogs in the right hands and she is a cracker, what a find!

What a great life Angel has with you. I remember you were the person who had Spirit, now called Spud. I am sure Angel has no idea what a lucky little dog she is, great up-date.

:| My usual question (sorry everyone, I know its boring but . .) what is Nellie like with other dogs? I am starting to look for a (small female) companion for my 4 year old Border Terrier although we still have our 2 old(ish) girls. Am in no great rush because I wouldn’t want to upset our ‘older ladies’ but if a suitable dog popped up I would hate to miss the opportunity. I know Patterdales are fantastic little dogs and you don’t really see many in dog pounds so was very surprised to see Nellie on the web site.
