What a lovely end to a sorry tail. Great photo and I couldn’t agree more that people should take on a pound hound, they make truly great ‘friends’.
IndiannaMemberThank you so much for putting Nellabi and Cassies’ photos on the site, as you can see we have had quite a lot of snow. Nells bells is getting along very well, never seems to put on any weight but us very lively. Just about to go and feed them. Good news about Kenny.
IndiannaMemberHow nice to know that Kenny is now being cared for one to one, just what he needs. Hope you feel better soon Kenny, be good for your foster person.
IndiannaMemberFirst Elsie (Pixie) and now Kenny – ill. He really needs to be in a nice stress-free, warm environment as well as getting the appropriate veterinary treatment. I hope the foster offer works out. Then he would have half a chance of recovery. I hope he gets better and maybe will get a trip north. Was really pleased to see the message from Calypso. Happy vibes to you Kenny, get well very soon, handsome little dog.
IndiannaMemberSo very pleased that the Fearless Fairy is on the mend. Poor pup but she is on the right road now and will hopefully be home very soon. I look forward to hearing how she is getting on.
IndiannaMemberAny news on Pixie? In my soul I am calling her Fearless because I think that is what she is – and only a baby. This message carries mountains of happy, healthy vibes to you Pixie. You to get better so you can go on to have a fabulous, happy life.
IndiannaMemberCome on Fearless, get rid of that temperature we all want you better.
IndiannaMemberHow is the Fearless Fairy getting on? I hope she is over her illness and back home with the family.
IndiannaMemberCollie X terrier dogs are to be very highly recommended. I can say that with my hand on my heart. Our Cassie(dy) is a true diamond of a dog, a very real (and greatly treasured) find and I have no doubt (from reading Kenny’s blog) that he is also a little diamond. Whoever takes him home will be very lucky.
IndiannaMemberSorry to hear Pixie is unwell but she will be well cared for at the vet surgery, they will have everything to hand and Pixie probably just wants to rest somewhere warm and quiet. She is a hardy little soul and am sure she will pick up again soon. Happy vibes to you Pixie.
IndiannaMemberAm I completely wrong or does it look to anyone else like Elsie has found her people. Mmmm, paws under the duvet I think (really, really hope). I know that is bad because the very great people who foster do such an important job – I couldn’t do it because I couldn’t move any of the dogs on. I know if the family do not keep Elsie she will be placed in a fantastic home and is getting a great start with great people. Wish I could win the lottery, give up work and look after mutts. Love to read Elsie’s up-dates.
IndiannaMemberFearless fairy – I L O V E that and I bet that is exactly what she is and isn’t she tiny. So happy she is with good people.
IndiannaMemberBrilliant news, bet Elsie will be great fun.
IndiannaMemberI can send Bronte a measuring tape! Elsie is just diddy, if I had room she would be heading north but sadly we are full up now. Small dog, massive personality, great fun and these little mutts just make you laugh all the time and they are so affectionate in their quiet moments. I am sure she and Leon would make a good pair for someone. Double the fun.
IndiannaMemberNells continues to spread her magic dust wherever she goes. Took her back to the vet last Saturday for the second part of her vaccination. Cassie has a bit of a stomach upset so she also went. Cassie was examined first and a school girl in ‘seeing practice’ held Nellie’s lead while Cassie was examined. I changed dogs while the vet was washing her hands and I had put Nells onto the consulting table. When the vet turned round she stopped in her tracks when she saw Nellie, we had the usual "what a lovely little dog, where did you get her, she is great, can’t believe SHE was in a pound". Then the vet (having bent down to the level of the table and looking closely at Nells, said, she is a very nice example of the breed, good top line and her hind legs are great. Little dogs usually have very upright hind legs and therefore problems with their kneecaps but she is beautiful". Its ALMOST getting boring. I have started to wonder if we have all fallen under some sort of Nell spell and that she really is a horror but we all see the complete opposite. Who knows, I don’t care, she is great. The crate has now been put away and Nells sleeps in a dog bed in my room, sadly the rest of the mob are ON the bed. The next big thing for Nellie is to learn to sit while the front door is opened and wait until she is allowed to go out. It might take me 150 years to train her to do that but I will persist. I have heard her bark a couple of times and its really funny, not what I would have thought at all. I have heard plenty of the yipping when she gets really excited but not much barking. She is great in the car and just lies down. I am trying to stop her frantic licking, I assume that is stress? Anyone have any thoughts or tips on that one? That is it for the moment, she has to get ready for work tomorrow. We (Nells and I) are on holiday from 18th December until ?? 27th or 28th December so lots of walking, playing in the garden with all the dogs and training. Cassie has not been sick today at all, that is good but she is back to the vet tomorrow morning (8.30 a.m.) to have blood taken which I will take to the lab at work. Vet just wants to check her kidney function and other routine things. She (Cassie, not the vet) remains bright, keen to go for walks and would eat but was being sick every few days. She has a bit of a temperature but we hope she has just picked up a bit of a bug. We know she has various health issues so needs to have her blood checked to ensure nothing horrible is going on. Fingers crossed everyone, we need her back to normal. Since her arrival 16 months ago (can hardly believe that) and all the grime and ‘orangeness’ has gone our slightly grubby old girld has turned into a sparkling diamond. She is absolutely charming and I would be totally devastated if anything happened to her. I would feel the same for all our dogs but Cassie really has worked her way into our hearts in a very short time, it feels like she has been a member of our family for years. My wise old girl. Nellie is now sitting on her grand-dad’s knee because we put the fire off. Oh, its such a hard life!
