Ivan is a girl!!!! Her real name is Jessie and she is a little dote. Her coat was in horrendous condition but she was very patient and let us at it.
Joan gave me a hand and took loads of photos which I am sure she will put up as soon as she gets a chance. This little lady was loved by someone and she is great at giving little kisses and loves a cuddle. She had no sores that I could find on her body which is incredible considering her coat. Here ears were clear and clean. An believe it or not I would say that she is a little over weight for her size so there was no shortage of food where she was living.I have to say though, the smell was a little off putting but she is gone into foster with Linda smelling as fresh as a daisy who I am sure will update later.
I am having serious computer probs at the moment so this is the only one I have been able to upload and Joans will be much better.
hpshebaMemberDawn has been through the mill for the last few weeks. Since leaving the pound before Christmas she has been suffering terribly with her tummy and its only in the last 2 or 3 days that she began to get better. She as a result of being sick is quite under weight now and the next week or two will be spent getting her to eat and build herself up.
Marie will post an update in the next few days as to how she is getting on but she is fine with other dogs and with Maries son Keelan.
hpshebaMemberNala has been in tip top form for the last few weeks and after all the months that she has been here I can safely say that she is house trained
She loved the snow soooooo much she was barking to get out at every oppertunity. She really thought that it was just for her I think
She is a fab little collie, so petite and with beautiful markings. She loves the company of other dogs and really would be unsuitable as an only dog as she looks to others to see how to behave.
Her cheeky bold streak has also started to surface and she tries to rob my slippers from my feet to play with. She adores her snugga wubba which is mad as it is the one I bought her when she first came her and then she had no interest in it, but now she can be seen carrying around the house a lot. ( I think she is afraid The Twig is going to rob it!!!)
Will keep trying to get some new pics of her but usually all I keep ending up with is a blur and she legs it around the house with the others!
hpshebaMemberhpshebaMemberIts very very easy to fall in love with this little man. He came back from the vets yesterday and within and hour was up and at it again driving the girls mad and looking for a game of batter and flirt.
The vet is 95% sure that he back leg abnormalities are there from birth and to be fair they are not holding him back at all.
He loves just sitting beside you or on your lap and having a kiss and cuddle. I think he may not have had too many of those in the past . He has behaved fine with my cat, no more bossy than any of the others and more interested in having a sniff than a chase.
I dont want to be neutered!!!! Look at my sad face
Ah well, glad thats over, now Miss Catzer come here till I give you a kiss
Now, has anyone got Paris Hiltons mobile number, I need help, she has me dressed in socks!!!Socks I say!!!!! and they are from Dunnes Stores
Im going back to bed, whats a Chihuaha to do!!!!
hpshebaMemberWell Miss Nala is still coming on in leaps and bounds. She had a great morning today, with her first runabout in the snow!!!!Then her second, third forth and fifth walk of the day.
She is in great form this weather and is having great fun with the new fur baby Twiglet.
As much as it is killing me to say this I think she is now ready to join her forever family

Little Twiglet, knackered now after Suzi visited, met with the vet this evening. Firstly he is being neutered this Thursday as his libido is quite high and my ladies are not amused, neither is Suzi’s left runnerThe vet think that he may have been born with an abnormality in his back legs, his right more prevelent than his left. Once he is under for his neuter on Thursday x rays will be taken and the vet can manipulate the leg and see what exactly is going on. However I am assured that he is in no pain at the moment.
He is a typical little dog, loves sitting on your knee and getting all the attention. He has a lovely color coat which is not clear at all for the photos posted. He is loving his food and slept through all last night without a peep till 10 this morning.
hpshebaMemberFirstly I would like on behalf of us all to take this chance to thank Laura will all our hearts for looking after Lucy so well in the time she stayed with her, Nobody could have showed her more love or care or have been more attentive in anyway to her. My heart is breaking for Laura, Jonathon, Charlie & Jodie. I know how upset Laura is so I will give a bit of a rundown on today for everyone who has been following her story and has taken the time to get in touch and wish her well.
Lucy, while under anesthetic and during the operation to close off her liver shunt , had a rapid drop in blood pressure. This resulted in blood not being carried to all her other organs. The vets in UCD tried their hardest to help her but to no avail. The consultant surgeon who was in charge of Lucy said that in 25 years operating on dogs she has never seen this happen in such a way before. She suspects that Lucy may have had a blood clot behind her heart. Marie has agreed that they may proform an autopsy to determine what exactly happened. We will have the results in a months time and I will post here then what the conclusion of the pm was.
Lucy touched so many hearts in her own little way. I only met her a few times but I found my mind drifting to her at least once a day wondering how she was getting on and was she behaving. I first met her when she came under the care of our own vet at the very beginning and I was so shocked at the poor state of her. I have never met a pup that was so ill and I was was lucky enough that I was able to take a few photos at the time and give her a quick cuddle and kiss.
When she went into foster with Laura I was delighted as I knew that I would get to see her again as Laura was in a position to bring her to work with her in DTI where my ladies go to doggie daycare. In a short space of time I could not believe the difference in her. She has changed from a lethargic grumpy puppy who was so severly underweight that I could not belive that she was able to hold her own weight to a little darling Diva puppy who was motoring about great in the DTI reception area. She would make a cat laugh with her strut.Little Diva Lucy, run free darling at rainbow bridge where you are no longer in any discomfort and eat whatever you like now. xxx
hpshebaMemberI got bored with my IT job so I decided to become a detective for today. Sherlock Wheeler took me under his wing but I am much better at sniffing out clues than he is!!!!!
And don’t I look smart in my red jacket
hpshebaMemberHave to order my calendar
hpshebaMemberSome photos just sent in, she will be on to update soon.
hpshebaMemberFidelma and Ellie are fantastic volunteers and a great representitive of Dogs in Distress. Ellie knows how great she is but sometimes I feel maybe Fidelma does not realise how we miss her when she goes away, even just for a weekend. Fidelma ( and Ellie ) are out almost everyday doing home visits. Without Fidelma and Ellie I think I can safely say that 50% of the pups that were homed this year would not have been homed as quickly. As soon as a home visit goes up on the board Fidelma is straight in offering to help out. I love reading "Ellie’s " reaction to the homes, she gets spoilt rotten with all her antics I think Fidelma hould write a book called the recollections of a mad collie and the homes she raided !!!! I just have a few of these but i love those, they really show how happy these pair are to be together!. xxx
hpshebaMemberWell there was no need to worry at all!!!! Not a bother on her, She came back to the house after the op and wanted to play straight away with the others I had to bandage her like a mummy to keep her off the stiches (lampshade too tramatic for her) but she is still hopping around like a spring lamb!!! The little madam starting barking then for her dinner, she is a strange one to figure out now she has got her confidence!!!!!
hpshebaMemberLucy is now at home settling in with Laura, Jonathon, Jodie and Charlie so I am sure that she is loving being in a family home and being looked after so well. Laura will update her when she gets a chance.
hpshebaMemberOnce again thanks so much to Laura for agreeing to help little Lucy. The operation will hopefully take place in 3 weeks time as Laura said and from all reports she is in better form already after having her medication changed. Will hopefully have more info tomorrow when she is given back over to us
