Hi again from Zora (even though we call her Dora the Explorer) as she keeps exploring everything!
She is just an amazing dog. And yes people are fascinated with her eyes. She has been greatly admired on every walk. Her coat is so shiny and will probably be very low maintenance. She is eating really well and is not food aggressive. She LOVES other dogs and plays really well with them. She also knows when it’s time to stop! She is now really obedient and will come when called, sit etc. She is also great on the lead and does not pull now. She is not afraid of anything. Slightly shy with new people for all of about 30 seconds!
She is being neutered next week and will be good to go then. She has had her second vaccinations and is chipped.
All I can say is that there is something very special about our Dora!

GroundforceMemberMy God what a difference a day makes! She slept like a log again last night, is getting on brilliantly with my dogs and my boarders and is so playful.
I am 99% sure there is a bit of husky in there. Her coat is long but short like a husky if you know what I mean, it is so shiny yet not as smooth as a collie. It would also explain the blue eye. When she is running around (which she is now doing a lot of) her tail is standing right up and has that husky curl. Wow she is really a stunner now that she has found her feet. All she wants to do is play! She just about stopped to have her breakfast!
It’s funny cos I reckon rescues know each other when they meet….Benji took to her straight away…..speaking of which, I must update his profile!

EibhinGroundforceMemberWell our foster Zora arrived yesterday evening and is adorable.
She has had a good brush out and bath today, has wolfed down her lunch and is settling in well.I genuinely think she would make some family a super pet. She has such a nice gentle nature, is good on the lead, does not chase cats (that I know of!) and gets on great with other dogs. She also seems great with children so an all rounder.
She is still finding her feet so I will update after the weekend but my gut feeling is that she is a winner!

Hi All!
Firstly, sincere apologies for lack of photos..hope these make up for it.
As you can see, Benji has settled in great. His coat is now unbelievable, and believe it or not he actually had a small mat behind one of his ears last week. I never thought I would be so happy to see matted hair! He loves his baths and has definitely put on weight. I also think he has got taller. He will never be overweight as he burns off his food so well! He loves my other dogs, especially my retriever Tilly.
He loves the dog park in Shanganagh and really lets loose there. He gets on great with other dogs but is still scared of sudden noises or unfamiliar objects. He can be nervous of new people but once he realises that they are not scary he is all over them!
Once again many thanks to Marie for all the rehabilitation work she did.
EibhinGroundforceMemberUpdate on Benji….
He has settled in so well…. I am thinking of renaming him "Sea The Stars". I have never seen a dog tear around so much!! His energy is unbelievable. I can only let him off the lead in large enclosed spaces because I think he could actually take off!! He loves my other dogs and totally loves his food. Even now when I feed him, he thinks he is never going to see food again!
His training is going really well though it took quite a while. He had never been used to any type of routine until Marie got him and I think he loves the security of that. He still has his lovely orange blanket which is in the photos, and he goes mad when he sees it! His coat is brilliant and his tail is long and feathery. He has feathers underneath his tummy now too and on his legs. I will upload photos this weekend…that’s a promise.
All in all he is a great boy and really happy. He is happiest when on the couch beside you having a cuddle and he is so affectionate. No health problems now at all….just a regular energetic fantastic dog.
Thank you again Marie & The Team for making him what he is today.Eibhin
GroundforceMemberWhat a brilliant day! BENJI enjoyed it thoroughly, even though he pretended for a while not to! He was thrilled to bits with his prize and has been playing with the toys this morning. He was shattered and slept on top of Tilly all the way home! It was great to meet everyone again and for them to see how well he is and what a handsome boy he has turned into! I reckon by next year’s show he will be doing the agility course!! He was particularly delighted to see his real mummy Marie (I am only his forever guardian…she will always be his mummy!!)
Well done to everyone at DID for all their hard work. Events like that don’t just happen on their own. And again, to Marie and everyone who looked after Benji along the way….THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
Eibhin, Tilly, Roly & BENJI!!
GroundforceMemberThis is Benji’s new mum here!! I am nearly afraid to post anything up here because I am only the end result of a long and arduous journey for Benji, and picking up from all the hard work, love, care and attention Marie Hannon has put into this dog. He is an absolute credit to Marie and everyone else who had an input into his care along the way. He was with Marie for 4 full months and it is solely down to her that he is what he is today.
It is too early to post on how he has settled in, because I don’t even have him 24 hours, but I can just say that he LOVES other dogs, and has been part of a big gang of dogs since Marie took him. That is why he will hopefully fit in so well here. He plonked himself on a couch in the corner, and that’s his observation station!! He slept well, not a peep and was wagging his tail when I came down this morning, which I couldn’t believe, so hopefully the transition will not be too traumatic for him.
I will keep you all posted with photos. The photo above on the orange blanket was taken in my jeep, just before we said goodbye to Marie. The great thing is that he is in Dublin and everyone will be able to see him and stay in touch with his progress, which definitely will make it easier for everyone, especially Marie.I would like to publicly thank Marie and all the people who have made him the dog he is today!
EibhinGroundforceMemberI have had a blind rescue dog for the last 6 years and he is now quite old. I would be delighted to talk to anyone about adopting Odin and what to expect in terms of his disability – I actually forget that my dog is blind!! He is a pleasure to live with and I am sure Odin will be the same. Feel free to PM me for a few tips, tricks, games etc!
