dogluversMemberWell here’s an update on my mad Aurora,
She has been with us since january and couldnt have settled better, even with moving house tothe country she is brilliant.Im doing agility with her at the moment and she is flying at it and she loves it.
She is afraid of nothing except shadows in the dark but in saying that she would protect you to the end of the earth.
she gets on great with everyone and loves to play fetch with the ball and love to run the garden with Jessie my GSD.I have also started mushing and cani cross running with her and she just loves it so much.
here are some recent pic’s of her..
Pile on..
dogluversMemberTanx for the advice everyone im goin to leave her on the rc and try some salmon oil…is it not bad for them to have too much omega 3??like would you use the oil everyday just to make it mre interesting….im sorry if dats a stupid question i just want the best for her [/quote:3ldb4lzt]
It says on the bottle how much i.e. pumps to give your dog depending on the weight of your dog, so if you go by the advised amount it will be find. I give it to my dogs daily and my GSD was going very grey and dull (she is 6yrs in october) and in 3 weeks of being on the salmon oil she has really darkened and has a beautiful shine from her coat again..
dogluversMemberWowo she does look brilliant look at the boxer in her now…. She is a stunner…
Thanks for the update Liz
dogluversMemberThe equipet shops sell salmon oil but i order it online and this is the one i get.. I brilliant for the dog and there coats ect they just get a pump or so depending on the size of dog in there fed daily..
dogluversMemberThe bakers is a little step up from pedigree chum , still not a whole lot in it for the dog more additives and stuff…. The RC is very good i have all mine on it and if i find they get a little bit fussed about it i just add some tuna into but the dogs get salmon oil anyway in there food so that normally makes it tasty for them…
Any off the brands you get in the supermarket dont have an awfull lot in them bit like mcdonalds for us.. As feeding dogs can be expensive and your strapped for cash most pet shops do red mills which is just alright bet better than bakers or ped chum. They do a large bag of winner for €25 which is in the lesser grade then they do leader which is of higher quility than the winner and a bit more expensive again.. But the best ones out there are the RC , Hills, JWB , Burns , the ones you buy in the vets are very good.
Hope this helps.. there is also loads of info up on food and nutriance in FAQ’s
dogluversMemberHi opal,
Sorry i have no advice for you at all apart from i had a pointer x dobie that sadly died last year, but i failed in every attempt to keep her in.. The minute i opened the back door to let her out in the morning she was gone straight over the wall.
I tried tie downs with a 15 ft lead (couldnt get it any longer as i was afraid she would make the wall and hang herself..) My last option was to build a 8 ft high dog run just for when the weather was nice that i could let her out but in saying that if she hadnt died sortly after we built it she would have figered it out.. She never went far either and came when i called her but didnt like my neighbour so i had to make sure she never got out cos she would bark at him…I would recommend lots of extra exercise and also lots of games in the garden, hiding treats for her to find so she likes the garden. The other thing i have gotten my dogs into is dryland mushing where a with proper equipment (ie harness and long lead very important not to use colars as the dog could choke) the dog pulls a scooter or rig and its a great way of exercising them or you could invest in a back pack that would make her walks tougher. Doubling the work load for them which makes them tired more than a normal walk… I wouldnt go for the radio fence as i know of people that there dogs got shocked by one and then thought it was something another dog did and attacked him and someone else that there dog got a shock and wont drink from a bowl now cos every time his colar touches it, it reminds him of the shock….
Hope some of this helps but it wont work straight away i found it was all trial and error..
You can either pm me or google dryland mushing if you want more info on equipment and stuff..dogluversMemberThis little guy is just the sweetest dog ever..
He is sooo gentle and placid, he loves to curl up in his bed and just watch you cooking dinner or cleaning around.. He is 100% house trainned now and goes to the back door to be let out. He sleeps all night with out a peep and just potters into his create to sleep for the night by him self..
He gets on great with everyone and loves kids. He just sits there for hours letting them rub him, he doesn’t jump up on children which is brilliant.
I really cant believe he is still here cos someone out there is missing out on this adorable guy…
His pictures do him no justice at all you need to meet his and see him for yourself. He has had is 1st vax and is microchipped and is now ready and waiting for his loving new home..
