Little Troy (McLure! You might remember me from such….!) is settling in so well. He has been with us a week now.

For a dog that was left out the back garden since he was a pup (he is about three or four) and quite possibly neglected, he took to toilet training in the first day which is unheard of! He is a typical little Alpha male dog and loves to wee on everything when outside.

Troy is exceptionally well behaved and has taken to home living no problem… He loves to lounge on the couch, eat, give lots of kissies and play outside. A very quiet, affectionate dog with a brilliant personality and gentle nature. He hasn’t a bad bone in his body this little one. I have as yet not heard him bark, even on the first night when he was very distressed and confused.

We’ve taken him to agility training to socialise him with other dogs as he allegedly had no knowledge of the world prior to meeting us. Well, he was running around playing with all of the other dogs, not a bother on him! He was the darling of the group!! Everyone doted on him and he ran the course like an expert.. A real brave boy.

Troy is in rude good health and very sprightly (he runs like a deer, he almost bounces along!). He’s fab in the car and is doing great with his on and off leash training.

Troy currently sleeps in a crate as he is experiencing anxiety due to stress of the transition to indoor living which is disappearing very quickly.

We believe this little man would be suited to a home where there is a female dog (or two or three or four..?!) and one where there is a garden for him to potter round in. A dog anyone would be proud of owning x

Here is a link to video of him in the park for the first time (off leash for the first time too)! http://youtu.be/g_dIjneQOcs

    Crazy times, Caroline!

We’re delighted that Sadie has found her forever home with such a super cool but super kind family.

She is so different from the ‘bag lady’ she was when I first met her (we were Sadie’s foster family). This dog was close to dying from neglect and infection.. She was greasy to the touch, wearing a plastic bag on her badly infected leg – which she could have lost – so shy, depressed and frightened with zero confidence. Look at her now!! Sadie is very lucky in so many ways with the people who have intervened to save her and it just shows how amazing people can be.

I nearly died laughing when I read about Sadie and Dexter in the canal  The two of them seem so happy and real little partners in crime from the start! Dexter is a gentleman and a legend for welcoming her and sharing his territory and things, no easy task for a dog.

Thanks Caroline for all of the updates, much appreciated x

Sadie’s leg has completely healed and she is no longer wearing the cone of shame or the leg coverings woo hoo!!

She has come out of her shell in the last few weeks and is a COMPLETELY different dog to the one we took in looks-wise. Her coat is long, thick and silky. It was greasy, matted and rough when she came to us.

Sadie is a family dog and loves company. She is undergoing off-leash training in the park and is doing very well. She loves to run ‘free range’ in circles around us until she collapses on the grass!

You can bring Sadie anywhere, she is so well behaved and happy to go along. She loves the car and is always hoping to go for a trip!

Sadie gets on great with other dogs (once the males have been neutered). She displays good manners and sensitivity with smaller dogs. We firmly believe she’d get on as a second dog to a home.

Sadie is no trouble and makes friends with all creatures…. She seems to like the neighbourhood cats more and more.

Cuddles, walks and food and Sadie is content. She likes the odd chewie too :)

This girl is a beauty and a joy and we absolutely love her x

What a difference two weeks make! Sadie looks so different – the stress is gone from her face and she’s put on some weight.

Her paw is healing well and she has bandage changes just once a week now.

This girl is hands down the most affectionate dog we’ve ever fostered. All of our fosters have been amazing in their own ways and brought us joy. It is just that Sadie has the most sweet and gentle personality and is a joy to be around – she has charisma, this one!!

She treats everyone she meets like an old friend and her warmth and generosity is unreal. She is a complete lap dog and would suit a home where there is someone around to hang out with most or all of the time. She is a true companion and devoted to humans. She likes other dogs and animals but seems scared of cats. I think she just hasn’t been exposed to many.

She loves the good life and just wants to be part of the family and go where we go and hang out with us. Very low maintenance, quiet dog. But she is good fun and likes to play gently when the mood is on her. Obsessed with food and and expert at the ‘begging face’.

We are besotted and when you meet her you would be too!!!

More Sadie news next week :)

It turns out that this is a young girl, called ‘Sadie’ (apparently named after the O’Driscoll family’s daughter). She is a proper lady with exceptional manners. For an injured dog with questionable history, Sadie makes a remarkable impression.

I picked Sadie up at Dunboyne Vets this afternoon from the lovely Sophie. When I met Sadie, I instantly realised she is a gentle soul. Unusual in a dog of such youth (max 2 years). She is so patient and loving and eager for acceptance in an understated way – almost like she’s been here before. My husband and I are proud to say we have had the privilege of spending our Valentine’s Day (well, evening really) with this absolute pleasure. We had a steak dinner and Sadie just sat on her bed patiently waiting and hoping that some would come her way. Which it did, of course, even though she had full meal of kibble and wet food prior to our candelit din din!!

Sadie has displayed a really affectionate nature but is very shy and cautious but not skittish. She’s relaxed but alert if that makes sense.

We are looking forward to a week’s time when this little bundle of ultra polite nerves will be transformed into a confident and happy little dog. We’re just loving spoiling her rotten :)

Stay tuned for more Sadie news to follow…

    Quick update on little Betsy:

She is doing great following her spay surgery last Wednesday. Betsy was in a little bit of pain afterward so was given a few days supply of painkillers which had her totally spacey! She would stare at the wall for ages on end with a far away look in her eyes  well at least she wasn’t in pain is all we kept saying.

Our little lady is back to herself and so eager to go walking – she keeps grabbing the leash and jumping round which is so cute. It will be another few days before she gets any proper walks in so it is just outside for her morning and evening constitutionals at the moment… Don’t worry, Betsy, we’re nearly there!!

I took off her cone of shame briefly for the photo session below… You will all agree at how beautiful and cute she is. We love her to bits and she really is a complete little gem. So well behaved and intelligent and great fun to be around.

Betsy has been with us since the 23rd December. She is an absolute dote!! She is very quiet and not much of a barker. However, she has a fab, outgoing personality and is great fun. She is fully house trained and a great night sleeper.

Betsy loves her walks, food, people and other animals. You should see her watching her movies.. She loves Quentin Tarantino films but has a soft spot for Christopher Walken (we were watching a film the other night and someone was threatening him and she wasn’t happy with that)!!

She sits on command and is very obedient. She actually smiles when happy or excited which is so gorgeous. Everyone around our way love her and she loves them back.

Betsy is a treasure and lucky be the folks who adopt her :) We love her to bits.

Rosie & Jim had such an active weekend.. I took them to meet Foster Dad at the Luas Friday evening after work. They were breakfasting with us at Queen of Tarts in Cow Lane, Temple Bar and quietly sitting there watching the world go by.

They spent this morning running about the Phoenix Park meeting and greeting. They particularly enjoyed meeting a little girl called Mia and a 5 year old collie called Cassie. They are incredibly sociable and polite!! Here are some photos of them playing in the park:

We just love these two tiny ones. They are just perfect in every way… So well behaved it has to be seen to be believed. They are excellent on recall and you can trust them not to run off. Real cuddle monsters. They are so quiet and not yappy at all. They’re so much fun and will make a wonderful addition to any family.

Update on Rosie & Reggie: It’s been a week and a half since they came to us for foster. Their individual personalities are really shining now! Gone are the nerves (especially poor little Reggie) and in their place are two curious, loving and lazy little doggies :)

They love to lounge! They are so quiet and love to sleep. They are so very affectionate and love to lick us to death! They are always together, they never do anything without the other.

We took them to the park at the weekend where they chased each other around and explored. They are getting really good off the lead too.
They are good with children and adults and like dogs. They love to chase cats and birds.

They love their food, especially Reggie who is prone to trying to steal Rosie’s meals. She soon puts him in his place! It’s gonna be difficult letting these kids go to their forever home :(

We are the lucky pair fostering little Rosie & Reggie! They are very good looking dogs (my husband says they are like Disney dogs), super affectionate and obedient.

Very young, vet says one is a year and the other under a year. They are so quiet you would hardly notice them!

A great team who do everything together. They truly are inseparable – when out walking, they constantly look to make sure the other is there! They were so nervous when they came to us but are beginning to slowly trust humans again.

They will make their new owner very happy.

Thanks, Danemark – she is so nosy and just loves to people watch!

Here’s a picture of Sandie enjoying her lunch at Il Baccaro in Temple Bar at the weekend… We bring her everywhere so at this stage she is well used to lunches out, walking round town on a busy Saturday afternoon, family occasions and general meeting and greeting:)
