Ditsy Daisy had her stitches out today and impressed the vet with her co-operation – she just sat on his table without squirming and allowed him to remove them. She’s such a good dog …. most of the time. She has become expert in anticipating when I’m going to leave the kitchen, so she can streak to the door and be out ahead of me!
She’s off to Alison’s tomorrow and all here – except, of course, Holly – will miss her. Hope she catches the eye of some wonderful family as she will make a wonderful pet.
P3131634.JPGbarbarabMemberThe delectable Daisy is still with me so a quick update…..
She’s a collie/spaniel cross, when she sees a dog in the park she drops to the ground in collie fashion, fixes the moving target in her eye, then rockets off. She’s quite nervous of other dogs, though very eager to make friends with them. She gets wildly excited when the lead is produced and just loves her walks. Loud noises spook her a little, but a little pat and reassurance and she’s fine. She loves when people stop to admire her – she’s a very attractive young lady – and is gentle and welcoming to all. But in the house she’s the most wonderful guard dog. Her back is deep and loud, and even though she is particularly gentle, no robber would take his chances round her!
She loves fetching the ball. She has loads of energy and never tires of playing ball. She loves to bury bones and treats, if she can’t get out to the garden she’ll burrow under cushions to hide them. I’ve explained that the nylon bones have been bought for her and are NOT to be buried, but so far, she’s not listening. Reminds me of my children!

P3121628.JPGbarbarabMemberDaisy is a very sweet-natured pup, but unfortunately there’s been no ease in the tension around her and my Holly. Normally Holly reluctantly adjusts to a new arrival within a couple of days, but her level of anxiety and aggression is not easing, hence we’re seeking alternative fostering for Daisy. Holly has a serious heart complaint (more serious than my own!) and she’s so distressed around Daisy I’m anxious for her well-being.
Daisy is a very affectionate, gentle dog. She’s decided I’m her person and is just happy to follow me around, gazing adoringly at me, now that’s a new one for me! She’s house-trained and, while I don’t think any time has been spent training her, she’s well-behaved in general, though with puppyish energy and exuberance. No chewing, destructive behaviour, even when she’s left alone in the kitchen (Holly absolutely freaks if she comes into the living room), she just lies uncomplainingly at the door. Ditto when put in the garden, no complaining or scratching to get in. She has lots of energy, I’ve taken her off lead in the park to have a good run. She doesn’t go far, but is nervous at anything which moves.
With a little work she will make a great family pet, I reckon her loyalty will be tremendous. I’m sorry it’s not working out here, she’s a sweetheart and deserves a great new life.

P3101660.JPGbarbarabMemberDaisy is taller and leggier than she looks in the initial photo, like a spaniel/setter cross. She was spayed yesterday and so arrived bedecked with the dreaded cone. She’s gentle and very friendly. All very bewildering here, Holly having a go at her at every opportunity …. poor Daisy.

P3071652.JPGbarbarabMemberBilbo had a great Christmas and loved all the people coming and going. He startles a little at loud noises and sudden movements, but is settling in well. He’s no trouble at all, house-trained, doesn’t chew things, just loves to potter about with us. He loves racing around the garden, going at top speed, skimming by Holly, close enough for her to snarl but not close enough to get a nip He adores going for walks, gets excited when he hears the noise of the lead being taken down. I’ve stopped taking him to the park as he wants to go play with every dog we see. When we road walk he trots along nicely and we both get our exercise! Unfortunately I’m going away soon so he’ll have another move, but whoever takes him will find him a very easy house guest.

PC261642.JPGbarbarabMemberYou know, I think you also should be named Angel, Susan. Angel the Fairy Godmother of so many dogs. You’re wonderful. And a great photographer too! Always love your pics.
barbarabMemberOh terrific photos, isn’t he gorgeous? So glad to hear he’s getting on well, he really is a terrific fellow, good-natured and full of fun. Hope he’s got those big foster brothers knocked into shape! Tasty looking bed, yum yum Scooter!
barbarabMemberScooter has gone to live with a terrific new family in the country. Apart from his new parents, he’ll have 2 human ‘sisters’ and 2 doggy ‘brothers’, so what more could a little guy hope for? I hope they update with news of how this mischievous treasure is getting one.
barbarabMemberScooter just loves his daily walks, he likes to stop and say hello to everyone we meet. He loves meeting other dogs, is a little timid but delighted at the same time. As we’re an adult house, I haven’t seen him with children, but I imagine he’d really suit a home with children as he’s very playful but also gentle. His favourite ‘no’ areas are any shoes he comes upon and the peg bag. He does react to ‘no’ and already knows ‘walk’, so he learns quickly.

PA202187.JPGbarbarabMemberVincent, (well actually, Scooter, I know I shouldn’t but he’s just NOT a Vincent) went to the vet for his second shot today and our lovely vet confirmed he’s a terrier cross, about 14 weeks, will be medium size with longish hair, is in great health and is ‘bright as a button’. It was straight on with the lead and out for a walk, which he just loved. He was a bit confused with the lead at first, but quickly got the hang of it and had a wonderful time.
He’s such a good puppy, he’s gentle when playing, is very playful but will happily play by himself if no-one available, lies in his bed when we eat, doesn’t nip when playing, loves being picked up and snuggled (I him irresistible, his coat is soft and gorgeous) and …. clean kitchen every morning, terrific for such a young chap. He learned to sit in a couple of minutes so should be able to learn lots of tricks. Of course we’re spoiling him and he quickly decided that his Royal Canin tastes much better when mixed with something tasty!

PA192173.JPGbarbarabMemberVincent continues to warm the cockles of the hearts of all who meet him. He’s soooo good, I’m finding him really easy to have around. Not a single toilet accident during the day. He didn’t like spending the night in the utility room, so I left him in the kitchen with Holly yesterday and hey presto … no cries and no piddle! He’s such a happy chap, he loves playing with his toys and pottering about after us and after Holly. They’ve become great buddies and he loves following her around, trying to get her to have a tug-of-war.
He seems to have great man appeal – the men in the house and any visiting male just fall for him. He has a kind of old man face which is very cute. I love his gentleness and good behaviour. Looking at the weight guide on his food pack, at 5kg he’d be expected to be medium size.

PA152165.JPGbarbarabMemberKenny has had the great fortune of being adopted by a wonderful family with 4 lovely children. He went off to his new life in Leitrim yesterday and the house is so quiet without him. I just hope he’s having great fun and is behaving himself. Hope you’ve found a good hiding place for your Barbies, Gemma, as I think Kenny would have such fun tearing their hair off! Look forward to update on my little Pat Kenny.
barbarabMemberHe’s doing his corgi lookalike in one and engaging in his very favourite activity – ball-playing -in the other. He’s a real ballaholic, I have to avoid the park at weekends as he dives onto the pitches and jumps onto the soccer ball, absolutely refusing to let it go
When he hears the hall drawer open he’s out like a flash, hoping, just hoping, his lead will be taken out. If it’s visible, he hops up and grabs it, of course no-one can refuse his not-so-subtle ‘request’ for a walk! One of his ears has tilted to the side and he has the cutest, lopsided look. I’l have a serious chat with him before Saturday and warn him to be on his best behaviour, I’m continuing to spoil him so his manners are a bit less than perfect after 5 weeks with us
