Clever Cody has added guarding us to his ‘to do’ list. When anyone approaches the house he gives his funny, kinda deep but croaky bark. He’d scare any potential intruder away, provided they didn’t know it was coming from the sweetest little munchkin who’s missing his front teeth

He must have been stressed from the pound and big change in his life as he did a bit of marking when he arrived to reassure himself that this was indeed his place. But now ………. no more, see photo!

Cute Cody is thoroughly enjoying his life here. He’s a busy little fellow – shadowing me, lots of walks, trips in the car when he waits patiently as I do errands, patrolling the garden, a spot of wrestling or chasing the ball – and he conks out after his dinner each day, deeply asleep but alert if the ‘W’ word is mentioned or the lead appears!

‘Ah, he’s so good’, is what’s said most often about him, and he really is a sweet little fellow. He’s a good deal smaller than he appears in photos, a Westie came over in the park and Cody was smaller and slighter. With his long, blonde, thick (but non-shedding) hair, he looks larger, especially around the shoulders – think Tasmanian Devil! He’d love a home where he’d have lots of company, not necessarily a lot of action, he’s happy to just be around people and potter about.

We’re delighted to have the wonderful Cody back after our holidays, for which he was well minded by daughter Kate. He’s an absolute sweetheart, just the sweetest, gentlest little fellow imaginable. He’s great fun, always ready for a play or outing, but takes to his bed when nothing’s happening. I have the little legs (almost!) walked off him, and he’s a trooper, enthusiastically doing his morning park walk and then ready for more action in the afternoon. He walks off-lead, races over to meet any dog he sees, but stands quietly while the other dog inspects him, so I think he’s quite submissive.

He’s made a hiding place for himself at the side of the house, and gets very busy burying pieces of pizza crust or other edibles left out for the birds. It’s funny to watch him trotting up and down the garden, as though he’s inspecting his land. When he’s ready to come in, he sits on the step and barks. Oh, he’s just so good and lovable, going to be very hard saying goodbye to this little treasure.

Cody is an absolute treasure. In the house he is mannerly always, doesn’t beg at mealtimes, waits to be invited onto the couch, loves being petted but doesn’t pester. He’s obviously been loved and trained, he sits and does a really cute meerkat beg. He’s playful when we want him to play, loves a ball chase or tug of war, but otherwise lies in his basket. He happily potters around our long garden, comes to sit on the step and then potters off again, not at all anxious about being out on his own.

He walks to heel and is so well behaved on the lead. On the beach or in the park, he trots steadily ahead, runs to greet any dog but comes when called.

He’s a great little car traveller, stays in the back and just lies down when I leave him alone in the car. All in all, a wonderful little companion!

It astonishes as well as angers me that Dolly the heart stealer became so neglected …. she’s a pure Yorkie, is very young (between 1 and 2), has the gentlest nature, just loves being around people, and is particularly pretty. She has a chocolate-box beautiful face. She loves, loves, loves being with a person, trots happily after me, or next best, husband, joyful at whatever is proposed – a walk, wonderful; stroll down the garden, wonderful; a drive, wonderful; sit and read, wonderful, I’ll snuggle up too. Even, totally against the rules in my asthmatic house, a nap, super-wonderful. She’s incredibly good, just extraordinary that she ended up wandering the streets.

Dolly the heart stealer has come to us for her holidays and wow, what a reaction to her … everyone who comes in just falls for her. She is the sweetest, gentlest, teeniest dog we’ve ever had. Despite what she’s been through, she loves everyone and looks trustingly into our faces all the time. She trots around after us, soooo happy when we stop to talk to her, or, better still, rub her. Yesterday I took her for a couple of short walks and she gets very excited when the lead appears. She has such a pretty, tiny face and her tummy is very large for such a small frame, the poor little scrap. How could such a gorgeous dog have been allowed get into the condition she was in last month?

My sweet little fellow went to his new home today. Apart from being a terrific home, where he’ll be one of the family, it’s also with friends so ….. I’ll be able to keep up with Mr Gentleman and even, take him for his holidays ;) He’s also going to be the only male allowed into our book club, quite an achievement, I can tell you. It already has one canine member, Mrs Holly wouldn’t miss a minute of meetings in our house. Cute, clever canines rule.

Hand on heart, I can honestly claim that Bowie is the nicest dog I have ever met. He’s gentle, trusting, sweet-natured, absolutely devoted – the man I should have married, as I’ve told my husband  He’s totally happy to potter around after me, lies down when I stop to do anything, then up as soon as I move, so I hope he gets lots of company and affection in his new home. He’s terrific walker, good on the lead and great off-lead. He’s a credit to his former owner, who I know parted from him reluctantly.

It’s a tribute to Bowie’s, aka Mr Gentleman’s, truly gentle nature that Mrs Holly shared the couch with him. She never gets on the couch, she’s more an armchair lady, but little Bowie is so winning, even she has succumbed to his charms. Not without the odd nip, though, which he takes in his sweet stride.

He really is a treasure, great fun and always ready for a play. He’s off-lead all the time in the park or on the beach, runs to greet every dog but races straight back to me, without even being called. He knows our routine, and every morning around walk time, he sits at the front door, patiently waiting for the lead to appear. Even though he’s utterly delighted to be heading out, he sits patiently, no jumping or racing around. Such a well-behaved man, would enhance any family.

Super-Bowie at the bottom of the page….can’t have that! Only reason I haven’t been posting is that he’s just so unbelievably good that I forget I’m fostering him. He’s slid into our lives so easily, no trouble at all at all. At first, he was uneasy in the car, but now he hops in delightedly each morning, knowing we’re on our way to the beach and a good run and sniff.

Bowie loves his grub, but even though he sits eagerly for titbits, he takes them very gently, he is such a mannerly chap. The only teeny-tiny problem I had was a tendency to roll in unmentionables on the beach (think dead seagull). However, he very quickly learned that a roll equalled a shower, so that carry-on stopped smartly!

He is a most affectionate, gentle soul, a very devoted man indeed. Men of the world, take note please!

Can’t believe how quickly this little guy has settled in, with no aggression from Holly. He’s a happy, self-contained kind of chap, so easygoing. Loves his snoozes, loves being around people and just loves his walks. When I move towards the front door, he’s immediately beside me, hoping , always hoping a walk is happening. He’s happy to potter about with his toys if he feels like a play, just so easy. He’s a bone-burier, the new nylon bone was taken straight to the garden and buried. When I dug it up and washed it, he sought the best possible place in the house, right at the bottom of Holly’s bed, took ages to get right!

He and Holly, the ‘piddling pair’ are a hoot on walks. Holly’s always had gender-identity issues, piddling like a boy dog. So when Bowie cocks his leg at a suitable spot (and there are many, many of these), she has to do her boy-wannabe piddle on top, if he notices, he has to re-piddle. Walks can take a while  Most of the time we’re on the beach, so they just catch up with me.

As Bowie was originally homed from DID, he’s already chipped, neutered, and he’s had his booster vax and worming, so he’s ready to go to some lucky family. My husband has declared him to have a very ‘noble head’ and he is indeed a handsome as well as nice-natured dog. He makes the funniest sound when both his ears are being rubbed, sort of purring walrus

This little guy is a total winner, declared best foster dog ever. He’s soooo good, absolutely no faults or issues. Extremely well-behaved in the house, he’ll play when we want him to, otherwise just lies in his (or, more generally, Holly’s) basket, watching everything, ready to follow once I head towards any door. He’s decided I’m his person and his devotion already is wonderful. When I leave the room, he lies watching the door, ready to come and greet me when I return. While he’s always ready for a rub, he never comes pestering or jumps up, he’s so mannerly. When we’re eating, he sits watching, but again never pesters. He would be an ideal dog for someone looking for a true-blue companion, he’d repay any kindness and affection in spades.

He loves his walks, sits obediently for the lead to be put on and trots along happily. I let him off-lead in the park or on the beach and he’s brilliant, has little runs but stays close. When he sees dogs in the distance he hesitates, the dog or me ….. happily I’m now winning!

Bowie’s settling in today, having spent long time sadly looking at the front door whining yesterday, missing his home. He’s a lovely, handsome, well-behaved fellow. He’s playing a blinder with wicked Mrs Holly, totally ignoring her, so she’s not having the usual aggressive, stressed reaction. He’s a little bigger than he appears in photos, more corgi than jack russell size though with beautiful jack russell colouring.

Vet proclaimed him to be in great shape and a lovely dog, he was taken with how gentle and biddable Bowie is. He’d really make a great companion as he’s happy to just be around, doesn’t make any demands at all. He started to follow me upstairs and when I told him dogs don’t go upstairs in this house, he calmly walked back down and waiting in the hall for me, smart boy ;)

He walked on the beach and in the park today, loved both. I let him off-lead and he was very good, but did like to investigate other passing dogs, hoping for more play than Holly will give. So far ….. so very good!

I meet the sublime Melanie today and you’re right, Fianna, a page 2 girl this is not! Her photos do not do her justice, she’s a stunningly lovely dog, in both looks and temperament. She’s unrecognisable from the terrified creature in the first picture. Her coat is jet black, shiny, shiny, and she has the most lovely head, a real stunner. But she’s gentle, sweet and incredibly obedient. Anne has done wonders with her, she’s so mannerly … waits in the kitchen to be invited farther, stands back to allow Anne into the house first, she’s just amazing. She just loves being petted, rolls onto her back for tummy rubs, she’d be a wonderful companion for absolutely anyone.
