Your boys are so well matched. Love the most recent photo of them on the beach. So nice to get the up-dates and we can all stay in touch with Oscar. It took a while but its all good now and it makes me happy to know he is safe for the rest of his life.

September 3, 2010 at 10:45 am #100770Angela1Member2 months ….
In some ways it’s hard to believe Oscar has only been with us for 2 months because he’s settle in so well and we couldn’t imagine life without him, and yet it doesn’t feel like 2 months since Audrey lifted him into our car with cuddles and best wishes for his new journey in life.
To mark the day we booked Oscar into ‘Hairy Babies’ for a make over!! He’s just returned home from a morning of pampering with the wonderful Jacqui – she did a fantastic job transforming Oscar from his ‘Tatty Teddy’ look into a Classic Wire Haired Fox Terrier…

Wire haired fox terrier.jpgSeptember 3, 2010 at 12:29 pm #100765IndiannaMemberI love his ‘tatty teddt’ look although he IS very handsome with his new haircut. What a change to Oscar’s life, pauper to prince. I would say in one fell swoop but it certainly wasn’t that. A long journey for him but with a spectacular outcome. Its so lovely to ‘see’ hime now and again. Need to catch up with Pixie, Paxy and Bubs and so many others. Its just nice to know they are all safe. Nellabi currently has kennel cough, a visit to the vet yesterday. She is not out of sorts at all just has an awful ‘honking’ cough so is on antibiotics and is having a day at home – mainly so we don’t spread it around all the other dogs who come to work with their people!! Have a good weekend Oscar and please say thank you to your people for staying in touch.

September 7, 2010 at 7:58 am #100869IndiannaMemberThank you for asking after me Oscar. Yes, I am much better and had my last antibiotic tablet this morning, still at home though. I will probably get back to work at the end of the week. Can’t have my person wandering about without me, she gets lost very easily (old, you see!). Please don’t tell her I said that. You really are a handsome little chap and we (person and I) think you are a very good example of your breed, keep up the good work.
September 13, 2010 at 12:09 pm #101118Angela1MemberYesterday Oscar was awarded ‘Rescue Dog of the Year’.
It is a wonderful acknowledgement of Oscar’s life from the terrible lows to the healthy, happy dog that he is today.
This award highlights the amazing work of the Dogs in Distress Volunteers who turned his life around. They taught him that humans can be trusted, that they can love you unconditionally, they healed his physical wounds, they cared for his soul, and they called on their 4-legged carers to cure his food aggression. They gave him back his life. It’s hard not to become emotional when you reflect on Oscar’s journey and yet it’s heart lifting because it’s a DiD success story – it proves what can be achieved with team work & dedication and when people are prepared to go that extra mile. Everyone involved in DiD shares in this award, because without you Oscar wouldn’t be alive.
My family are reaping the rewards of your devotion and we are so grateful. The words ‘Thank You’ don’t seem sufficient to express our appreciation but they come from our hearts.
So could all DiD volunteers please stand up and take a ‘bow’.
THANK YOU x
September 13, 2010 at 3:36 pm #101125IndiannaMemberCould not agree more. DID, fantastic website and fantastic people. Oscar is indeed a great ‘front man’ for DID – just like Freddie Mercury was for Queen. I am a great fan of Oscar, DID and Queen! I wonder if he knows how special he is?
November 7, 2010 at 2:46 pm #102341Angela1MemberOscar has been with us for 4 months and he still surprises us with his antics. The daily conversations here usually begin with "Guess what Oscar did today…"
Max & Oscar have the odd squirmish which usually involves toys or tennis balls, otherwise they get on very well. At meal times Oscar will wait until Max has eaten before he eats (with the exception of Sardines – they are devoured in seconds). Food agression has certainly disappeared.
Oscar has had a busy weekend meeting wonderful dog-loving families who are interested in adopting. He loves meeting new people and having a nosey around their homes! Max joined him on a visit today, they met a lovely family and went for a nice walk beside a river … Oscar tried to make a dash for the water but as it was such a cold morning we didn’t give him a chance to launch himself in… he just can’t resist rivers, drains or even large puddles!
Here are a few photo’s of the Main Man!
