That’s great news … best wishes to Toto and his new family
Yesterday Oscar was awarded ‘Rescue Dog of the Year’.
It is a wonderful acknowledgement of Oscar’s life from the terrible lows to the healthy, happy dog that he is today.
This award highlights the amazing work of the Dogs in Distress Volunteers who turned his life around. They taught him that humans can be trusted, that they can love you unconditionally, they healed his physical wounds, they cared for his soul, and they called on their 4-legged carers to cure his food aggression. They gave him back his life.
It’s hard not to become emotional when you reflect on Oscar’s journey and yet it’s heart lifting because it’s a DiD success story – it proves what can be achieved with team work & dedication and when people are prepared to go that extra mile. Everyone involved in DiD shares in this award, because without you Oscar wouldn’t be alive.
My family are reaping the rewards of your devotion and we are so grateful. The words ‘Thank You’ don’t seem sufficient to express our appreciation but they come from our hearts.
So could all DiD volunteers please stand up and take a ‘bow’.
THANK YOU x
Met little Belle at the Fun Day – she entertained us with her passion for ‘squeaky toys’. I am sure she is making ‘sweet music’ in her new home this evening!!!!
A BIG BIG thank you to all the fantasic volunteers who made today such a great event. It was lovely to meet the people behind the posts, these are the people who are responsible for ensuring that families like mine (and there are lots of us) are settling down in front of the TV tonight surrounded by the love of a rescue dog. Thank You. You must all be exhausted so I hope you’ve gone home to open a bottle of wine and put up your feet for the evening.
A second BIG BIG thank you for choosing Oscar as the Rescue Dog of the Year – I was so overwhelmed I don’t think I thanked anyone at the time. Oscar has become an instant snob, he swaggered back to the car and sat up like royalty all the way home. As I type this he is sleeping in his new bed – there’s room for another 3 or 4 dogs in there with him but everytime poor Max goes near Oscar is reminding him that he won the bed not Max!!!
Oscar had his photo taken with his two Foster Mammies: Audrey and Sarah … They’ll be Oscar’s ‘Pin Up Girls’ on the door of the fridge!
Here are a few photo’s from today …

I met this fantastic little fella today – OMG he is just gorgeous. He seem to be a perfect dog for a family – lovely little face, friendly, and a perfect size for snuggling on your lap.
Maybe Wilbur The Adventurer could have his own stand at the Fun Day on Sunday … 1 euro a cuddle … There’d be a long queue of people eager to meet this little guy!!
Fingers crossed that Charlie’s Angels will find his Forever Home soon.
Hi Indianna, hope Nellabi is feeling better, love Oscar!
Any updates on this fella?
Buzzsmom, I couldn’t agree more, we hesitated a long time before we adopted a second dog, little did we know the joy that two dogs bring to a family.
I really hope Winny & Willow won’t be waiting much longer for their forever home.
Delighted to see there’s interest in this gorgeous chap.
‘Oscar’ is wondering what competitions there’ll be on Sunday – he is flat out practising for a ‘Waggy Tail’ competition?
Harper I can’t believe you are still in Fostercare – I was sure you would have a ‘reserved’ beside your name long ago. You’re a beauty.
Will Jamie make a celebrity appearance at the Fun Day … he should have his own red carpet!
OSCAR NOW …
