:) Well, you have set your first foster dog off to a new life. Well done. I am sure Alfie will stay in touch with you and I hope you will stay in touch with people like me. There will be many more very needy dogs coming your way and you can take heart from the fact you are caring for them until their permanent families present themselves. Well done, you are a good soul, just like the other foster families. Best wishes.

:) I am confused about the nightmares on the sofa bit of the up-date. What does she do, fall half asleep and then try to eat anyone who moves? Dogs certainly do dream, my elderly GSD does a lot of running and woofing in her sleep and as they say "let sleeping dogs lie" I think Jessie is a smart little cookie and would probably love some sort of job to do. Does she do any tricks, bet she would be good at something like that. She is certainly one lucky little dog to be living with a great foster family, love hearing about her.

:D Congratulations on starting to foster, its a wonderful thing to do. I have huge respect for people like you, I am so feeble I know I couldn’t do it! How lovely to see Alfie with a tail, splendid little dog as is his friend Scruffy. I look forward to hearing about them, knowing they are safe and well under the care of DID and yourself. Thank you for the photos and I hope there will be more.

:) Geordie, are you quite fond of your dog daughter? I think you might be. I wonder how big she will eventually be, I bet the cat is also pondering that question. Love reading about her adventures, especially as I know she is home with her family. Will you still manage to foster?

That party for Furby is a great thing to do, happy dogs, mad people – just great:D All those involved with DID just get better and better in my eyes. The dogs need you, we all need you and the world needs you. Great to see Oscar looking so well and enjoying the party. Continue to spread your happy madness, its fantastic.

:) Oh, thank goodness for the most recent piece of news on Des. I hope whatever you do have can be treated successfully and heart murmurs nowadays is ‘almost’ nothing to worry about. There are very good drugs out there now. Cassie has a grade 3 (out of 5) murmur and does not need any treatment for it. OK, she is being treated for lots of other things but but not her heart.

;) He is very good with the typing isn’t he? Loved his ‘paw’mise bit, very inventive. You really don’t see many ‘Oscars’ around so he will be a bit of a prize for someone and his coat doesn’t shed, that is GREAT. We must live in the hairiest house in the UK so for a dog coat not to shed is a huge plus. By the time I have finished brushing our mob I could almost make another small to medium-sized dog out of all the hair!!! As for the hoover, well it cringes when I get it out of the cupboard. Oscar is a very smart little dog and he will have managed to put his rubbish life behind him because he is now living a very nice life and will continue to do so under the very good care of DID and all involved. We all know he will land in a great home and be watched over by the spectacular DID team for the rest of his life.

:) Well, my two little terrorists certainly lived up to that title last night. I let them out into the garden for their ‘last duties’ before bedtime (11.30 ish), they trotted down the path to the gate as usual. I stepped back into the house to get the torch so the old girls could see where they were going round the back of the house, we don’t have a light at the back. Suddenly there was a whole lot of sqealing, yipping and growling I shot out the door and could see the bush at the right hand corner of the house shaking violently. I ran across, torch in hand, managed to grab Dudley as he came out to run round the bush, I grapped Nells tail, then her collar and got her out. I frog-marched the spinning, twisting, snapping little monsters back into into the house. The oldies hadn’t managed to get out of the house as I shut them in when I went out to see what was going on. My father had gotten out of bed and was at the door of his room saying to me "what happened, was Nellie caught in the fence"? I shouted back, "no", "she was caught in a hedgehog". She and Dudley were rushing back and forth, growling, both had tails as stiff as pokers and Nellie’s nose was bleeding a little and she was what I can only describe as ‘champing her teeth’. I managed to get a hold of her to check her nose and the bleeding had almost stopped. I then (dreading it) went back out, torch still in hand, to find what might have been left of the hedgehog. There it was, still in a tight ball under the bush. I stood watching it for about 5 minutes and then came back into the house. Dogs were still as high as kites, I went back to the bush about 5 minutes later and the hedgehog was merrily cleaning up the seeds that had fallen out of the bird feeders, it stopped eating when I arrived and we both stayed very still. After a few mintues it started to head off alongside the shed. It stopped and spent some time standing beside the wheelbarrow. I returned to the house, put Nells bells on her lead and she and I went out again. Straight back to the bush, then she tracked where it had gone and by the time we reached the barrow the hedgehog had gone. She tracked around and we ended up at the back fence. I then got Dudley out (on his lead) and together they did the same thing again, clever little monsters. They were very keen to continue the hunt but as the old girls had performed all duties necessary we all returned indoors and I eventually fell into bed at about 12.30 a.m., pleased the hedgehog had managed to survive its very unplanned attack. The dogs seemed to have forgotten about it all by this morning because their behaviour was normal once more. Better be careful at night now, just in case. I know its a dog’s natural instinct to hunt and kill but we would never willingly allow the dogs to kill anything – its live and let live in our world. They have plenty of toys to kill and rag. In fact Nellabi "killed (removed the squeak), peeled and tore apart 3 doggy tennis balls last Sunday. It was a pack of 3 bought on Saturday! Her nose is fine today, but getting her nose pricked didn’t stop her last night, silly mutt. I dread to think what would happen if they both got a hold of a cat. They did chase a local moggie up one of the trees. I looked out of my bedroom windown when I heard a load of barking one day and there was a black cat clinging to a very thin branch near the top of the tree (about 15 feet up), Dudley was running round the tree and Nellabi was trying to find a way up it – honestly!!! Life is never dull with the terrorists, just adore them. I bet Lenny would have climbed up that tree.

:D :D The photo of Jessie looking at the person viewing the image is beautiful, the sleeping one is also cute but the first of the recent ones is spectacular, you should enter that into a competition, you never know!

;) It just took a while for Nala’s family to actually realise that they were indeed Nala’s family – but you got there in the end, double click and a big handful of treats all round – well done! Keep up the training of your family Nala, you are doing a grand job.

:o Well heck!!! What a MASSIVE difference the most recent images are, from the ‘mucky mop’ we first saw to the latest photos of a happy, happy little dog. She really does laugh in the photos, probably can’t believe her luck. I know her original owner wasn’t cruel to her but I and no doubt many others are very happy for Jessie, she is certainly living in a different world.

You will be sad but be happy for the shared a journey you had with Tess, she found happiness with you there will be no doubt about that. I also have no doubt that she will continue to walk with you and there will be times when you will know that. I dread these times, same as everyone else who has the pleasure of our canine companions and the terrible loss of their physical presence when the shift from physical to spirit comes. I so hope you continue to help other needy dogs, there is no better memorial for Tess or any other dog, its never a replacement.

:D Hailey, you are one lucky puppy dog – you have landed on all four paws and your new family is one of the best. What a wonderful life you have ahead of you. Well done Hailey.
