Happy 1 week birthday to Dolly’s pups!
Haven’t they grown so much in the week – they crawl all over the bed so I’ve moved them into the crate so they have more room to move about.
At this point I need names to identify them, so in DID tradition if anyone can think of 1 boy name and 2 girls names starting with ‘D’ (after Dolly) we may have a christening soon. I’m brain dead at the moment and can’t think of any nice names.
Dolly likes to take breaks away from the pups now, but last night she was so tired she fell asleep on my knee for 10 minutes. Suddenly she jumped up and headed for the door where her pups were – poor little thing, guess she thought she’d been asleep for ages and left her pups.

Dolly is a little restless at times, so I took her for a short walk today and she was delighted to have some ‘me’ time. I think her stitches are itchy and she’s a little uncomfortable, but they’re coming out on Tuesday.
Dolly’s little trade mark is sticking out her tongue when she’s snoozy – I got a little photo of it below – how cute is she??

Well done Gemma and the family who decided to adopt him – Many happy years of fun together.yoddyMemberWow Dolly has had so much support and well wishes on Facebook!!
Here are some photos of Dolly and pups this morning…..I can see the pups getting chubbier each day.
After a quick little peek, the boy seems to be the light brown pup and the 2 darker (and smaller) pups are the girls.
Dolly is being great with the pups – a super mum. Her tummy is a bit upset though, but she’s going to the vet today for her check-up so we’ll see what the vet says.
Dolly is getting confident enough to come into me in the sitting room for some cuddles and TLC for herself, and then head back to her pups knowing they are safe in their basket.
It’s my first time to foster a dog with newborn pups and it’s a wonderful experience!!

IMG_1125.JPGyoddyMemberWonderful moment…Dolly has bonded with her pups.
She got into bed beside them this morning and hasn’t left them. She’s being a great mother now that the meds have worn off.

IMG_1124.JPGyoddyMemberWell Dolly had her little pups yesterday evening by c-section.
She had 3 little pups – 2 girls and 1 boy.
Poor Dolly was very groggy last night from the meds, and so wasn’t able to feed the pups herself. They are being hand fed every 2 hours at the moment.
Dolly is a little brighter this morning, and went over to see her pups in the basket and gave one a few licks. Hopefully this is a positive sign that she may bond with them and start feeding them herself.
Any tips or advice on how to get her to start feeding them, would we welcome??

IMG_1120.JPGyoddyMemberKathyrn I’m delighted you fell in love with Boss and homed him. I was away on holidays in June and missed that post.
It’s lovely to see all three furbabes snoozing together
Hope you all have many happy days together. Great news! YvonneyoddyMemberDolly is getting as big as a house Her tummy is almost hitting the floor! She is doing great – but is no longer able to jump up on the bed which makes her not too happy
I am able to feel the pups move now, which is quite exciting.
Dolly is really a people person – she loves everyone who comes to the house. All she wants is rubs at the moment.
Only 5 more sleeps until puppies arrive…..

IMG_1115.JPGyoddyMemberOnly 1 week to go now until Dolly’s pups are due. She is quite content, pottering around and sleeping. She’s eating 3 meals a day, so all in all things are going well so far.
Dolly got a new bed and fleece yesterday and it was as if she knew it was brand new and just for her. She kept going into the dining room to check it out and have a sniff and stand in it. She hadn’t taken to dog beds before this, so it was great to see her get into her own bed. She slept all night in it (I crept downstairs to check on her and she was snug as a bug cuddled into the fleece). As this is the bed where she will be with her pups it’s great to see her so happy to be in it.

IMG_1111.JPGyoddyMemberDolly has become sooo demanding now that she’s having pups……insists on being well wrapped when moving from bed to couch in case she catches a chill…

IMG_1110.JPGyoddyMemberI collected Dolly from Barbara on Sunday – I just want to say thank you very much for taking Dolly while I was away. She was spoiled rotten (as she deserves to be ).
Well Dolly had a busy day yesterday – she went to the vet for her ultrasound and best estimate is she is having 4 puppies in about 2 weeks time.
She is doing very well – very sleepy, so snores her little head off most of the day and night. She is eating well, which is great. She has got quite large and waddles everywhere now!
She is just so adorable – a little angel. I hope when the pups arrive, Dolly isn’t overlooked for a home. She is toilet-trained, very docile and a real little snuggler.
Although she potters around with my 2 dogs (YES even my scaredy nervous Tio is relatively happy to be around her and has jumped up twice on the couch to sleep near her!!!) she does get a little jealous if I give my dogs rubs – so she might be happier being the only dog in the house.

IMG_1108.JPGyoddyMemberSorry there haven’t been more photos of Dolly, but she is a little under the weather, so has been taking it easy. She has decided she likes her ‘duvet days’ and has been happily snoozing with my pair.
Now that we know she’s is going to have puppies ( ), it explains why she has been so sleepy.
She is going to a new fosterer tomorrow as I am going on holidays, but I have decided to continue fostering Dolly when I get back. So, I’ll have to brush up on my maternity skills…
Dolly is a little dote – she is so quiet and just wants cuddles and tickles and to follow you around. She’s in the right house for the lazy life, so it’ll be a privilege to look after her until her puppies arrive.
IMG_0942.JPGyoddyMemberRichard you and Hobo are a right double act!! Your adventures make me laugh all the time. Did Hobo enjoy his Indian meal??? I can understand with all that walking Hobo likes ( ), you don’t have time to cook.
Regarding the food issue – I’m no expert but I feed my adult dogs twice a day. I tend to put down the food bowls for about 15mins and if my dogs don’t eat, then I lift them. They don’t go back down until the next meal. It is good to get a routine for meal-time I think. Also, in the warm weather, the food just attracts flies if left out.
Looking forward to the next adventure from you two….
yoddyMemberThis poor little mite was in shocking condition. …thanks a million to Twist for arranging her groom at a moments notice and Yvonne for taking her in
Dolly is settling in very well. She’s a funny little thing. Obviously used to having the run of a house, as she’s very confident jumping on the couch or chairs to sit. I brought her bed into my room last night, to keep an eye on her first night – she jumped straight onto the bed and snuggled in behind the pillows! No dog bed for Dolly!!
She’s getting on with my old dog Goldie and seems confident to follow me if Goldie goes too. Otherwise she is reluctant to come when called.
Again, she is used to being tickled as her little paw gives you a whack to order you to continue tickling her neck, when on your knee
She’s eating her kibbles well and has a good appetite.
She has had a few accidents in the house, but I think dogs get confused in my garden as it is all patio and no grass.

york2.jpgyoddyMemberGreat news! Delighted to hear that she is starting to respond to all the care she is getting. She was one of the saddest dogs I have yet collected from the pound……
She deserved to be adopted so quickly, so she won’t have to change address again. It’s great that there are people out there willing to put the time and love into making this little girl enjoy life (I won’t say ‘again’ as I think she might never have enjoyed life before).
Well done and I hope you have many happy times with Suzy. -
