Are these poor guys still in the pound?? I walked the one with the red collar a couple of times around Christmas (I put the collar on him). They seem to be in urgent action so long now.

    Jodie

Jodie has been in foster with us for four months now. She has been living with three children (aged 6 to 10 years) and two male boxer dogs (she also lived with our other female foster dog Ruby for three months). She is such a wonderful dog and is very easy to live with. She loves the company of other dogs and I have never seen any aggression in her towards other dogs male or female. She is house-trained and non-destructive in the house and she doesn’t take shoes/toys etc. She will only chew on her own toys. Jodie is very intelligent and has learned quite a bit living with us but will require further training. She is very comfortable living in a family enviroment. She is a very, very active dog and loves her daily runs (she rarely walks). Her ideal home would have a large secure garden (Jodie can open doors/gates) and she really needs the company of another dog. She would be fine in a home with older children as she is too lively for little ones. She needs an experienced family/owner who will give her the exercise she needs, and also who will love and cherish her (as we do!) and treat her as part of the family.

I walked this guy last week and after a good run through the field he walked fine. I found that if you run a long soft lead under his belly he will walk right beside you (little trick I found out by accident with Jodie after she tangled herself up in her lead!) so I imagine a harness or halti head collar would work wonders. He is such a lovely boy and he just has a wonderful youthful spring in his step.

As for the people who dumped him in the Garda station – what ever happened to it being an offence to dump your dog? How long are the dogs going to be made pay the price for irresponsible owners?! This problem will never improve until the laws are improved and then enforced. People need to realise that dogs are not disposable and if they are not prepared to give them the love and care they need then don’t get them. There are plenty of virtual pets available in toy shops!!

My lovely Ruby sailed off into the sunset this evening to her new family in the UK. We are so sad to see her go and are sending every good wish we have with her. She will stay in our hearts forever, her teethmarks will stay on our tv remote and my mobile also  Ruby felt that if anything ended up on the floor it was fair play! She was the easiest foster I have had and the only difficult part with Ruby was letting her go. Jodie is missing her too and is so quiet since she left. I am sure her new family will fall in love with her instantly. Good luck Ruby – you are truely one in a million!
