I am really glad Brian is going to his foster home, considering I was the one who was coming down to home him and then in the end I gave Brownie a home, due to the awful state he was in.
Thanks to you all for getting Brian sorted.

Poor Brownie has been carrying a lot of pain and never once showed it. Took him to the vet last night for his vaccination. He has been given another course of treatment for his kennel cough, though it has improved greatly. Once this is cleared up, the vet wants him in to be neutered, have broken and bad teeth removed – he is in agony and finding it difficult to eat a little. Also the vet said he is carrying an old injury to his front left leg, possibly an old break which was never treated. This is probably why he didn’t want to walk too far. And he is only about 7 years of age. Once all his wee problems are sorted he will be looking and feeling his youthful self again. Vet said he has had a really rough life in the past. I am gutted that anyone could let him get into this state and then to dump him, such a lovable wee boy.
Poor poor wee soul, suffering in silence! His suffering days are over.
If you could see him tucked up in bed at night with his sisters Hollee and Evie!

Unfortunately Brian still needs a home, through no fault of his own.

When I got to Ashton Dog Pound this morning, I was totally smitten with Brownie before I got to meet Brian. Brownie is a wee pomeranian/terrierX and as you know from my previous postings, my wee pomeranian passed away in October 2009 and she is missed terribly. Yesterday Brownie and Bindi had been separated, as no-one seemed interested in the two of them together. I noticed they are at the bottom of the Urgent Action List!

I did meet BRIAN and he is an absolute wee dote. He is so full of affection. I took him for a walk, he is very good on the lead, no pulling. He is great with the other dogs. We also met the resident cat, and it didn’t take a fizzle out of him. He has a lovely black coat and fluffy tail. He reminded me of a minature Black Retreiver, about the size of a cocker spaniel, slighter in build.

Brian has a great temperament and would make a lovely family pet.

I hope Brian gets a good home soon.

    Hi Animalhelper and YvonneM

    Just getting your messages now.

Thank you for your postings earlier today. I have found them very helpful. I have to say this site "Dogs in Distress" is excellent and the people on it and the staff at Ashton Pound are all very helpful. I found you all on the web, by chance back in November 2009 and have been looking at it ever since.

Ashton Pound was very very busy today, as you said, but
I eventually got through at about 11.30am and I spoke to Bridget.
I have arranged to go down to the Pound tomorrow morning to meet the lovely BRIAN. I will be there 10.00am or earlier, waiting at the gates, unless I get lost, though I have my googlemaps printed off. Can’t wait to meet him, give him a big hug, and take him for a wee dander! I will complete the relevant forms, await approval, and
if I am approved, Bridget has assured me that they will hold on to BRIAN until I can get a days leave from work, next week, to get back down to get him! I do understand that all rehoming has to be approved by the Pound Manager. Quite right too.

BRIAN sending all our love to you!

Oh dear, as I look out the window here, it is snowing heavily!!!
If I have to "hire a snowplough tomorrow" morning, to get to Ashton Pound, I will!!! Hopefully the gritters will be out tonight!

    Best Wishes to you all.

Thank you kaydoyle for your posting. I really appreciate it.
I will phone Ashton Pound tomorrow morn to clarify things and all
being well I will be able to bring Brian home. I have their phone number from the previous time.

Seeing him going further and further down the urgent action list is
heartbreaking and I think a more mature boy like him, 7-8 years old, is just what we need. Ages of my girls and boys at the moment range from 1 year to 7 years. I know this wee dog will be an absolute character, by looking at his photos and reading the other postings.
He deserves the chance for a new life after all he has been through!

Really looking forward to meeting Brian, taking him for a wee
dander at the Pound, and then making him feel safe and secure in the car for his journey home.

I have everything crossed and I am hoping it all works out too!
Even bought a new blue collar tonight for him!

Best Wishes and Thanks Again for your help.

Further to my previous post last Saturday, seeing that BRIAN is still in Ashton Pound, I would like to offer him his "Forever Home" with my girls and boys in Northern Ireland.

I can collect him first thing this Saturday morning.

BRIAN is just a handsome wee dote and he will never have another worry in the world again, running along the beach most days with
my Hollee, a German Shepherd/GreyhoundX and
Evie, a Doberman/Springer SpanielX, playing fling the ball!
Cuddling up to his feline brothers and sisters too, one of them with one eye and one with 3 legs. A warm bed with his sisters. A secure garden to run around in. Treats galore! Loads of hugs and kisses too!

Spoke to Julie and Bridget in Ashton Pound on the phone at the beginning of December 2009, with regards to coming down and homing one of the wee dogs in the Pound at the time. But I realised it was just too soon, after the passing of my wee 14.5 year old minature black pomeranian in October 2009. Both Julie and Bridget were very helpful. Sophie is still missed terribly by us all, but I think BRIAN’s plight is a special reason to rehome another wee dog. He is moving further and further down the urgent action list!

Can anyone tell me if dogs can be rehomed on a Saturday from Ashton Pound and if they accept Mastercard? If not I can get money changed to euros tomorrow.

Hang in there BRIAN, your "Forever Home" awaits you this Saturday!

Wanted to get this brief posting on the Forum immediately, due to the length of time the "Very Handsome BRIAN" has been in
    Ashton Pound!!!

Offer of a "Forever Home" for BRIAN, and he can be collected this Saturday morning.
Will put further posting on this evening.

    Ps
Can a dog be homed out of the Pound on a Saturday morning and can a Mastercard be used for the fees?

Brian is an absolute wee dote. Photos of him are great.

Although I have not met him, I once owned a wee CollieX, same size and looked very similar to him. She lived until she was 18 years of age!!! She had a great life. Her heart was still strong, even at the end.

He deserves a good and loving home, such a lovely looking wee dog.
