Well this poor lil man came into foster with me on Friday. Thanks a million to Sinead for transporting him and holding on to him for a few hours :) . Well what can I say, the picture of this guy doesn’t even half explain the state he was in  . His coat was all matted and he had faeces all matted to his behind, he has chronic eye infections in both eyes, the worst Ive ever seen. I brought him straight to the vet on Friday evening and the lovely vet Pat in Lusk spent 40 minutes just trying to shave the hair around his eyes so he could have a look at his eye infection. The lil man was just absolutely terrified but let the vet do what he had to do even though it must have been really painful. The vet said his eyes were extremely bad and this was due to his hair growing into his eyes and basically blinding him. If his hair had been regularly trimmed, or even brushed, this wouldn’t have happened. Basically at the moment this guy if partially blind with very little vision. The vet gave him antibiotic injections and I have to give him eye drops 3 times a day, and already his eyes look much better. Time will tell if his vision improves. He is also VERY skinny, which isn’t obvious at first due to his coat. To say that it sickens and maddens me the state he was left in is an understatement, but Im not wasting any time or energy on the people responsible :x , its about this lil man and no one else, and this is the beginning of his new life. He is very nervous and is not used to any human company, its obvious he was a back garden dog 24/7 and got no other attention, I had the back door open on Saturday and when he went out he just sat, didnt attempt to come back in, it took him the day to realise he was allowed in to the house. But he’s started to love his ruband cuddles and comes over looking for them now which is great :D He just sits and looks at you and has the saddest face ever. I have to mention the SUPER lovely groomer,Carol in Lusk, who gave him a bath and a haircut and clipped his nails (which were curled under!!) She spent all of Saturday morning with him and was very patient and she did it all for free which was amazing!! She felt so sorry for him too. There isn’t a peep out of this guy at night time, he’s a pet. For the first 2 days he didn’t know what a bed was so would just go into the corner of the room and curl up, but he got the hang of it fairly quickly and now loves his cosy bed. As my friend said, just in one weekend this lil man has come on sooo much, so I know he has a great future ahead. He’s still quite nervous at times but I honestly cant blame him, he;s been through alot. I have some pictures of this lil man so I’ll post them up in a while.

Yeah this little man went to his new home yesterday. His new family are lovely and really loved Billy for who he is, so I know they will give him a great home, he’s a lucky little man :) . As always you wish you could explain everything to them, but on some level maybe they know! His new mammy Julie, who is so smitten with this little guy, said she would keep us posted on his progress so Im looking forward to hearing all about it.

Have a great life little man, God knows you deserve it, and they’re always be a 2nd home for you in Lusk with me and Charlie ;) .

    Love
    Your foster Mammy :)

ps – thank you so much to Sarah for putting up with my few tears when she came to vacc and chip him on Saturday, she ended up comforting me more than Billy . Thanks a million!!!

Well Bily was neutered on Friday and was a great little boy througout! Not a bother on him over the weekend, he was as right as rain by Saturday evening and is leaving his stitches alone like a good little man :) . I just can’t say enough good things about him, loves his walkies and gets very excited when he sees the lead as he knows its time for a stroll ;) . He’s a great little grubber too but no food aggression at all which is great. Whoever gets this guy better be into snuggling though as Billy just potters over to you, jumps up on the sofa and looks at you with his big brown eyes and leans in for a cuddle ;) . I thought my own dog was affectionate .. but he is definitely the most effectionate dog I’ve met. This probably sounds mad but it really is like he’s just so delighted to have food in his belly, a little stroll and a cuddle in the evening, its as if he’s saying thank you!!! he was so skinny when I got him but the vet said on Saturday that he’s a lovely healthy weight now and his skin is perfect (it had been very very dry due to bad diet. The toilet training is coming on great, no accidents when Im there to let him out and he’s paper trained for when Im out and he’s great. Billy doesnt min other dogs at all but isn’t really into playing (much to the disappointment of my yorkie!!),. he doesnt get narky or anything, just ignores all the fuss as if to say "Im too mature for all that" !!The only requirement I think Billy has is that he would hate to be left on his own for long  , so either another chilled out doggy or a home where someone is there most of the day would suit best. he doesn’t demand attention when you are there, he just potters about, but every few mins will come over to you as if to say "hi there, any chance of a rub? :D ". This guy deserves such a special home as he is a very special boy who I will miss very much when the time comes for him to go to his forever home ;)

Well Billy is still getting on great ;) . I honestly cant say enough about this little man. He is so relaxed and just wants to be loved and snuggled. As long as he has enough to eat, his walkies, a few snuggles and a cosy bed to curl up in he is as happy as can be. My neices and nephews met this little guy at the weekend, their ages range from two to eight, and he was brilliant with them. My 8 year old niece fell in love with him and was carrying him around (under supervision of course!!). He’s like my shadow ad follos me around the houe just to be close to me, (and in case theres any spare treats going of course :P !!) This little man will rummage in any bag thats left in his reach, I think its from being a stray for so long, that this was how he looked for food, so while its funny to look at its sad when I think of why he’s doing it!! He spent the afternoon in Argillan Park yesterday and by the time we got home he was exhausted, just curled up on my lap and nodded off, and that was him for the evening. I havent even had him a week yet but I can see a little difference in his weight already, he is still very thin but gradually putting on weight, and he’s a great grubber so he’ll be back to full health in no time ;) . He is great with other dogs too and there hasn’t been as much as a growl between him and my yorkie Charlie … they get on great. I took some pics at the weekend and will bring my camera in tomorrow and thanks artina I will send the pics to you if you dont mind (as I havent a clue to be honest!!) .

Well Billy the Beaut is staying with me :) . A huge thank you to Martina for transporting him to Whitehall for me, you’re so good. Well what can I say about this little man except he is a dream. And as Martina said, his little face looking up at you would melt the hardest of hearts. He is so so skinny that it would break your heart, my friend called over last night and when she saw how skinny he was she had tears in her eyes  . I popped into the vets in Lusk with him on the way home and she said that he was about 6 or 7 and was extremely mal-nourished and emaciated. But this little guy is a trooper. My Yorkie Charlie is super friendly and I was afraid that Billy wouldnt be up to all the playing about but he is, he loves it, they really get on so well, its like they have known eachother all their lives :D . I have made a big pot of chicken and rice for Billy and Im feeding him little amounts often. He is staying with his foster Nanny (my mam) while I am in work as he needs to be fed alot throughout the day. And to see him scoffing his food down like he doesnt know when he’ll get any more is heartbreaking. Having said that, he has no food aggression issues whatsoever and he and Charlie were at one point eating out of the same bowl with no hassles at all. This guy is a cuddler too, he loves nothing more than a snooze on your lap, or to snuggle up on a blanket. I gave him a bath last night too, and he didnt know what to make of the hose, he kept trying to bite it, but not in an aggessive way at all, I think he just thought he was supposed to drink the water  !! After his bath he dried off in front of the fire. I havent heard this guy bark once, he is such a relaxed little man. As he’s obviously been straying for some time the toilet training has to start at the beginning, and as he’s not neutered he has a habit of marking any new area he enters, but these are all things that can be fixed ;) . And when he is neutered it will help. I left him in the kitchen last night and was expecting him to cry, and if he did I was going to bring him up to my bed, but there wasn’t a word out of him, and he had peed on the paper I had left down for him too, which is a good start. I havent seen him around children yet but my nieces who are 8 and 5 will be over at the weekend so I will introduce him to them gradually, but I just cant see this man not taking to anyone who will cuddle him. I’m not great with putting the pictures up, but I will aks a friend to help me out with it and I will get it sorted, as this guy is far too cute not to show off. :)

    Hi,

I have rang Gwen about this little guy and left a message, as I could take him for at least a few weeks and give him all the TLC he needs. I have a 2 year old friendly yorkie called Charlie and I fostered a puppy from DID last year but just havent been in a position to do so since. This would just break your heart  My number is 0871250057

    Thanks
    Niamh
