Thanks Indianna, Scraps certainly is a little devil it is Abby who is adored by her Gerry alright and also little Scraps. They all lie on the couch at night. That picture is early evening sleep. Then madness, then ends up beside Gerry. Abby stretched and Scrappy on a cushion to he can see all around.

This picture I have to add as I think it is so funny. Bruce is the big guy abby’s official boyfriend. Scrappy just looked at him when they arrived and barked at him. Im not sure Bruce knew what he was as he was under him at one stage barking. Bruce just ignored the barking and they all chased around for a while. Its such fun to watch.

Scrappy’s latest naughtiness was the other night when he came upstairs licking his lips like a real happy chappy. He had delved into a partially frozen chicken that was de-frosting on the counter. We would never have thought of Abby taking it because she just wouldnt but this little fairy walked in and if he could talk he would probably say ‘yummy chicken thanks"

Last but not least. We were watching a movie about 4 weeks ago and in strolls Mr.Scraps. I know he had someting in his mouth and said it to Gerry as he headed for the couch. He jumped up and faced the corner of the couch. Gerry had a look and what did he have only Gerry’s false Teeth      They were up beside the bed in a glass. The little fecker had taken them down and thought they were very interesting. Thankfully no permanent damage. Gerry would kill me if he knew I typed this subject. So be quiet all please :!: :!: :!:

    Hi,

We cant believe it is 4years since we got Abby. 1st November was the date. We didnt move her until after Haloween as she was spooked enough. She has grown into a truly lovely girl who is so gentle. The only time I have seen her angry is when another dog has taken her ball. She isvery possessive over them. Dogs that are with us are fine but dogs out on the green are a big NO. ;) ;) ;) ;)

In January we fostered/adopted Scrappy a male Bichon Frise. She was so good with him in the beginning . She was very interested in him but careful. Not like now when I see Scrappys head disappearing into her mouth when playing. They rough around the house like lunatics and then pass out for a couple of hours.

I always thought that Abby was quite happy as an only dog and my partner certainly was quite against getting a second dog as he adores and is adored by Abby. Anyway Scraps came and Abby is a much happier dog having him here. There was no way would we have kept him if there was any trouble with them. Scrappy is stuck to Abby like gum. Where she goes , he goes. It is very funny to watch them together. I think the love is a little one sided on Scrappy’s side as sometimes Abby gives him a look at if to say "Give Me Space"!!! :!: :!: :!:

We went on holidays to the west and they had a great time. Scrappy just kept his nose to the ground. He is a real sniffer.

Abby is a gentle girl and a great sister for Scrappy and may they have many years ahead of them.

I have to agree with the quick method. Open the mouth and hold it closed for a minute, followed by a treat at least you know its gone down. No finding tiny bits you had wrapped in various bits of cheese or something yummy. Abby will not take tablets of any shape or size and spits out the tiniest of pieces . But now its all done in a minute and no harm done. As yet we have only had to worm scrappy and the same method applied. They are so clever when getting tablets and know well something is not right by the way we behave Im sure and then the offending piece of something all wrapped up.

In the end all happy healthy doggies. :D :)

Just had to put this picture up. Weather is cooler and the two little devils are feeling the chill so are cuddling up together at night. I never thought I would see the day when these two were so happy together. Its wonderful.
We have Abby nearly 4 years and little Scraps nearly 8 months. Its amazing how much dogs change when they have a buddy.

Thats great news Niamh. She was a lucky girl to land in your house, as she was well loved and cared for. Im glad your so happy about her new home, you dont have to worry about her now. Hopefully there will be lots of updates and you can watch her progress on here.

He is so cute, and I see him off the lead on the beach. Lucky you can do that. Scrappy would be in the ocean or somewhere and never come back. Archie looks great and happy. Just looking from his first picture last year, looks like a different dog altogether. He is now a happy little man. Well done :) ;)

    Hi there,

We are just back from our annual holiday in Achill. Abby had a great time as Scrappy was with us this year for the first time. They had great fun playing and tearing around the place, both inside and out. It is only when you have two dogs for some time. We now have Scrappy for nearly six months. You really see how they benefit from each others company. Abby is so good with Scrappy. There is rarely a growl between them and when there is it is usually when Scrappy robs a rawhide bone from Abby. She is such a good girl to tolerate this little terror we brought into the house. I think most of the time they really love being together and sometimes Abby just wants her own space.
For this reason Abby is walked alone sometimes just to let her have full attention. We cannot let Scrappy off the lead as you may have read from his exploits on holidays. So its a long extended lead for him.

It was funny, we obviously brought their beds with us which were hardly used as Abby discovered bunk beds and decided to sleep on the bottom one, and of course she had her sidekick with her. They are very good and slept very well and didnt wake until late which was great as we all had late nights. I think the fresh air knocked them out and the wine knocked me out :) :)

We reckon Abby is now around 5 and continues to have really good health except from injuring her dew claw on both front legs a few times. She is obcessed with a ball and when it is thrown she skids along the ground to stop and retreive it and has snagged both dew claws and her upper pads a few times. We had hoped the vet would remove the dew claws but one said yes and another said no, so it wasnt done. I wonder has anyone else had this problem and have any advice ?

I am adding just a few pictures, poor Abby is rarely alone now so the little maggot is with her.

Thanks kathy for putting that pic up. As you can see Mr. scrappy seems to have learned from his experience of falling down the grid. He is so funny. He stands there for ages barking at all that goes by. I am still a bit nervous of leaving him out there with abby alone as he is totally fearless it seems. yesterday we went up to a lovely beach nearby. It is a very narrow road and sheep grazing on the steep mountain on one side, and the verge on the other. Well his little head went from left to right so fast I thought his head would spin off.

He is stuck to abby like glue. She cannot go out of his sight without him following her. She sometimes looks as if to say "give me a break please". They are very cute together and even though abby is so much bigger, he is well able for some rough play and gives it back twofold.

    Hi,

I remember last year we were on holidays here in achill and I saw Saul’s post. I was so mad as again I had missed a little Bichon. When you look at his original photo and look at him now, he is such a happy handsome little chap. Its only when you look at the old photos of these dogs, and the up to date ones you can see so clearly much happier dogs, with expressions that show how much they are loved, and love back.

But as they say "whats meant for you will never pass you" and now we have little Scrappy. He was surely meant for us I am told by friends, something to do with his mischievious, lunatic character.

What would we do without our four legged friends to love us unconditionally .

    Hi folks,
I think I have now consumed enough wine to just laugh at todays antics     Scrappy is just as mad as a brush. He was running around like a little duracell bunny on speed !!!!! He just loved the freedom. And for quite a while he just hung around Abby as he rarely leaves her side. But for some reason best known to himself, he saw the sheep moving and decided to go and investigagte. So the picture is: sheep crossing a road, slowly as they do, followed by a pooh coloured bichon !!! Well I dont think that what the people in that car had envisaged when the sign said "sheep crossing". He sort of ambled back on the grass and came towards Gerry who at this stage was trying to be cool and just walking slowly as the running hadnt worked. Scrappy just slowed down to take a breath and he was nabbed .

So I think we have had enough action for now. Long peaceful days ahead hopefully. A bit of sunshine thrown in would be nice. :D :D

Hi there, Scrappy here. Well what an exciting time I am having. I love this place. Firstly we had a very long drive, but I just sat in the back curled in a ball all the way. Abby kept getting up and annoying me.
The house is great. Lots of good places to hide. There is no stairs which is strange !! :? :? :?

I am allowed out in the garden with abby. There is this strange thing at the gate make of metat. Abby says its to keep the cattle and sheep out of the garden. She doesnt like it as it makes as noise when you try to cross it and paws get stuck . But I just had to have a go when I saw one of those sheep chaps passing the gate. OOPS. not a good idea. All my legs got stuck and Gerry had to come and rescue me. He told me I was bold and not to do it again.

I tried to tell him I wanted to say hi to the sheepy chaps but that didnt matter. These sheep guys are very big and need a lot of grooming as they are very matted. The are allowed put colour in their hair, like red and blue !!!! Im not allowed do that. Maybe its because they are much older than me..

Today we went to the lake which is very nice because there is a huge big space beside it with lots of the sheep chaps again. Abby and Gerry played ball and I sniffed around and found some lovely Pooh to roll in :!: :!: Gerry and Mary very cross again so I just ran off and thought I would play with the sheep chaps a bit away. I ran to them and they kept running away. They ran onto the road and the cars had to stop, I followed them a bit but Gerry was running after me and I was gettting scared on the road. I turned around and ran towards my family, but didnt want to stop playing yet. So kept running away when Gerry got near. Eventually he caught me by surprise and the lead was put on me. Then I heard Gerry say "never again with no lead" !!!!! More trouble . They gave me a horrible smelly bath when I got home and now im all white and clean again.

Im feeling quite tired so will sign off an will come back soon with some photos of me and miss goody goody Abby

Thank you indianna for your best wishes for the holiday. Silly old me hit the submit button before I finished. Well my bed is on the line and Abby’s too. Abby is giving out about the heat but thats cos she is black and shiney and she gets hotter. Im getting excited now as it sounds like a fun place. Mary & Gerry are concerned that I might want to go into the sea. I dont think there is any chance of that as Abby says its not as nice as the lake where she loves to go and swim and play. There is something called waves at the sea which she says are scary.

Abby says there is also lots and lots of lovely smelly places to roll in, Oh I cant wait. :D :D :D

I will fill you all in when I get back or while im there if this laptop works. Hope you all have a great day tomorrow.

There is a buzz around the house today and Abby tells me we are going on holidays :D We are going to Achill and Abby has been there before and says its great. She told me there are fellas called "sheep" there, and that I look like a little one. That will be interesting to see what thats about. I hope we have some sunshine as I do really like the sun. I try and catch some when it comes out.
