A few days have passed and we have gotten to know this lovely girl a little better. She is a very sweet natured dog. Her excited time is in the morning. She is just so happy to see us that she does jump a little but that stops quickly enough. She also loves to have a play chasing the ball in the garden first thing in the morning, more than any other time of the day. She also gets very excited when her breakfast and dinner are being prepared and starts spinning in circles. Upon review my husband thinks she is probably closer to a Spitz or husky/ Alsatian cross- but either way she is fully grown so we know she wont be as big as an Alsatian. She is great with our dog and other dogs we meet (she drops and shows her belly usually – so she is really quite submissive) but it’s obvious that she doesn’t need another dog to be happy as she seems to enjoy human company just as much. She loves her walks and never stops exploring and chasing up and down the river (her fav. thing) so it is hard to take a decent photo of her when we are out. But then it is lovely to see her enjoying herself so much.
martemMemberMurph looks better and happier every time I check on how he’s doing. What a very handsome boy. Wishing you all the best Murph. X
martemMemberToday is Scrappy’s last day with us before she goes to her new home. We are all heartbroken at saying goodbye to her, we all love her so much. But this is what we have chosen to do, to give as many lovely dogs as we can a chance, and as hard as it is to say goodbye we know she is going somewhere she will be equally loved and looked after and happy. So before we say goodbye to our darling -I thought I would put up a few more recent photos. x

I hope not! Many a pair of socks were lost that way. The photos are just gorgeous, was that him swimming in the sea?? What a clever boy – what a good way to stay cool in this hot weather. I hope you are all well and enjoying many wonderful walks and the great summer we are having. Give Rudi a hug from us.
martemMemberSome shots taken this weekend and today. Have you noticed that her ears which used to flop down are now pointy. So cute!!

DSC_0142.JPGmartemMemberI am happy to finally be posting some more photos. Unfortunately the lovely shots I had taken of Carly on my phone were indeed lost when my phone went into the shop to be fixed (I hate losing any photos and these were gorgeous shots taken in the park and on the beach, there was even video of Carly and Ruby chasing birds on the beach and in the long grass in the park ). So I have just had to take a whole bunch more – Carly is (still) a little darling. She loves exploring the outside world with her super guide Ruby. She has embraced swimming, she comes out looking incredibly scrawny and bedraggled, and loves climbing (rocks and trees – I think she is half goat). She is still a little scrap of a thing (hence her pet name Scrappy) but she is now the same size as our bigger cat (Mel – featured in earlier garden shot with Carly). She still steals slippers and shoes to sleep on (sometimes we wonder how she manages to fit herself into the bed with the two runners and slipper she has dragged into the bed for the night. She seems to love the company though.

DSC_0066.JPGmartemMemberHas been a while since I updated – the summer continues to be wonderful (mostly!) and Carly is absolutely loving it. She has completely and wholeheartedly gotten into going for walks. She is great when we meet other dogs – she is cautious so doesn’t go running madly up to strange dogs (I think that shows great sense and maturity on her part) but is always happy to make new friends. She has discovered swimming (mostly by accident) and enjoys a good potter around the river. She is so funny – she loves dashing around in long grass – almost playing hide and seek. But if the grass is too long she has to hop more like a kangaroo than a dog. The walks are not too long as she is still only 4 and a half or 5 months but they are always full of adventure for her. I have taken a bunch of photos but my phone is in the shop being repaired so I’ll have to wait to upload them (I will be distraught if any of them are lost. fingers crossed not).
martemMemberWe are so delighted that we can take Carly out for walks and she is really loving it too. I have come to realize how hard it is to lead train a dog when you have another dog running round looking like she is having the time of her life. Hence Carly just wants to be off lead and running with Ruby. We walk in very safe and secure areas so I have been able to take her off the lead but think I am going to have to start taking her out on her own specifically for lead training. But she is just a fabulous little girl and never strays far (unless Ruby goes chasing after some interesting noise which Carly also wants to investigate, and even then Carly will always come back first and quickly). Everyone who meets her comments on how incredibly adorable she is (firstly) and then on how calm she is for a puppy. Playful but without that manic jumping puppiness. Will take some photos on our walks and post them soon.
martemMemberOur darling little Carly had her second round of shots yesterday so we will be able to take her out walking by the weekend which we cannot wait to do. We haven’t done any lead training because we haven’t been able to take her walking so that will be something new and exciting for her to experience. She is absolutely loving this fine summer we’re having. We are spending a lot of time in the garden and she loves all the noises and smells and cats coming and goings, the bees buzzing in the flower beds. In the evening she has a little mad dash around the garden – through some bushes in the flower bed and round and round the garden. She is still a little darling and an endless source of amusement. She loves playing hide and seek with the tennis ball hidden behind the cushions on the couch, and sometimes just loves burying herself under the cushions on the couch. Photos attached.

DSC_0306.jpgmartemMemberWhat a gorgeous looking dog. Hope he continues to relax and improve, it sounds like he would make a wonderful family pet. That is so cute that he checks to see if you are awake but doesn’t wake you.
martemMemberDon’t be mortified Indianna, You were right. in fact I am absolutely mortified!! When we got Scrappy (Carly) I thought I was told it was a boy and then not paying attention continued calling the poor darling ‘he’ for two weeks (until she went for her vaccination yesterday and the vet said ‘well isn’t she a lovely girl’) So embarassed!! – despite all the belly rubs and the obvious evidence to the contrary I had simply believed she was a boy. Kathy kindly fixed up most of my old posts for me. So of Course Scrappy is a gorgeous girl and I need to get my hearing checked. Apologies to all for any confusion caused and especially to Scrappy!!
martemMemberThanks Indianna – Yes he is, isn’t he!! I’ll let him know you said so – he is sleeping cuddled up to Ruby’s back as I type – plum tuckered out from his morning chase the ball session.
martemMemberI was just reading your last post on Pudsey – the poor darling. It brakes my heart when I see such beautiful gentle dogs who have to be physically and emotionally scared, but still have gentle temperaments and just want to be loved. I really hope that he is well!! – and that you have found a foster home that suits his needs…. or even better a family who will love him and offer him a permanent home. I know the kind of dog he is and can only imagine what a wonderful pet he would make for the right family.
martemMemberCarly being super photogenic!!

DSC_0279.jpgmartemMemberCarly is going for her first vaccination on Tuesday, we are all excited that soon (ok a couple of weeks) we will be able to take her out for walks and the all important lead training. She continues to be a gorgeous girl. She has a big personality but is not a completely mad puppy. She explores, runs around, chases the ball, loves a play with Ruby, who is at least 10 times her size but very gentle, and then lies down for a well deserved rest. She seems to have the sense to know when play time is over and if you want her to stop doing something saying ‘No’ or ‘Ahah’ usually works, she is a very clever pup. Like all puppies chewing is important for her but she hasn’t been in any way destructive. She steals shoes or slippers if she finds them lying around and brings them to her bed, but seems to be more interested in cuddling up to them than chewing them. She did chew off the two fluffy balls on the zipper of my fluffy slippers but I can understand that that was too much temptation to resist.
