MemberFrancesca he looks so happy! I remember Buddy well, I picked him up from the pound and brought him to you and he was the sweetest boy, so gentle and quiet. Looks like he’s really come out of his shell. Delighted that it worked out so well for you, Jago and Buddy. What a happy ending!

MemberBasil you are looking great! You’ve gotten so big since you stayed with us! You’re nearly as tall as your fur sister. Hope you are enjoying the snow and all the joys of life in a wonderful family.

MemberLittle Annie has been doing really well. It’s taken her a few weeks to recover and properly come out of her shell. When she arrived I don’t think she knew how to interact with us or with my two dogs. She didn’t look for attention or cuddles, was happy to be on her own, was very nervous of going outside especially at night, and was unsure of her surroundings and what was happening. She had bad ear infections and a sore looking skin infection. She’s had a rough life to now. I tried a few names with her to see what would respond to and Annie or Annie-belle got her attention everytime
A few days in, Annie started to interact with my 2 dogs who up to that point hadn’t taken much notice as she had kept to herself. After about a week of good food, rest and attention she started to really enjoy playing with the girls, got excited at the prospect of a walk (although she wasn’t able for a long walk), and figured out that doggie chews are great!
She didn’t bark until about week 2 and has now come to love playing and barks her head off running around in spurts of energy! She has a very gentle bark that I can barely hear if she is playing downstairs and I am in the office upstairs. She is a real gentle soul and has been great with any dogs we meet out on walks, and with people who come to the house or we meet out.
Annie’s house training has come on great and there have been no accidents over the last few days
She has started to go in and out to the garden via the dog flap on her own volition (I had to go out to the garden with her up to now as she was too nervous of being left outside). She will be going back to the vet for a checkup on her ears and skin next week. Her skin is still a little irritated but it has lost the redness it once had and she is no longer tormented with it. The vet has said that the excess skin hanging down as a result of over-breeding can be removed when she gets spayed – so that is good news.
She has settled a lot in the last week and it seems as if she has realised life will be good to her from now on. No longer does she want to be on her own and now follows me everywhere! She jumps up for a cuddle, gets super excited to see us in the morning or if we have been out, chases my 2 dogs around the house, and snoozes/snores under my chair when I’m working in the office. Last weekend she decided the wash basket looked comfortable so jumped in for a snooze snoring her head off, and has since commandeered it with a blanket in as her bed
Annie will be a dream companion for her forever family, she is gentle, travels well in the car and is very easy to have around. She will need a home where she has fur siblings or someone home all day as she loves company now and has had long enough of being alone.
Pictures to follow…

MemberOh little Basil, you really are a beautiful little boy! One of the most mischievous puppys I’ve ever had the pleasure of taking care of
You are looking so happy with your sister Sadie and it looks like you are being spoiled rotten!
I heard you were one of the best puppy in puppy class, well done!

MemberIt’s so nice to see what a fantastic job you are doing Francesca – Buddy is a lucky boy to have you as his foster mum. It puts a smile on the face to see such a lovely gently boy doing so well!! I have my fingers and toes crossed that Buddy will find his forever family soon.

MemberWhat a difference! I met this girl when I took her from the pound to her foster home and she looks like a different doggie now. What an amazing job this foster mammy has done! Be happy little Luna.

MemberI met this little girl when I went to take pics in the pound and she was a gorgeous little girl. I can definitely attest to her being very friendly. It’s very sad to hear how afraid she was when you picked her up as she was not like that when I met her. She was very active and outgoing, wanting cuddles – the pound is a horrendously, heartbreakingly stressful place for any poor dog. I’m so glad you have rescued her and I’m looking forward to seeing her updates as she recovers from the experience and gets back to herself.

MemberSo it’s Snoopie’s 1st birthday (well it’s around now so we decided to mark it on the bank holiday weekend)
There’s been lots of trips for long walks – glendalough and tara, playing with other doggies and some delicious dinners to celebrate
Snoopie and her sister Holly make us smile every day and our house would not be a home without them. Snoopie wants to say thanks to her foster mammy ‘ColganFamily’ for looking after her, and Marie and the team in DID for everything they have done for her. Here’s some pics of the Snooper, smiling as usual

MemberWe wanted to wish everyone at dogs in distress a Happy Christmas and New Year! We are very grateful that Snoopie came to us and that she was so well looked after by dogs in distress and her foster mum.
She is doing really well and is the happiest little girl. Herself and Holly are the best of friends and they love to get up to all sorts of mischief – especially when we are out!
It has taken a while for her to get used to the car and up to last week I had to hold her on my lap in the car enroute to the best dog walking spots. She’s come to realise that the car means fun walks, so last week she started jumping in on her own! She’s growing so fast that sometimes we forget that she’s still a pup – until she gives us that puppy look (or should I say, stare out, when she’s hungry!)
I’ve attached some photos of Snoopie over the last few days and will post up more over the next few weeks.

MemberI gave her a big cuddle for you! We decided to call her Snoopie. It’s the dutch word for sweets
(my husband is originally Dutch) We brought her to my brothers and he didn’t want to let me take her home!
Here’s some more pics of her. She’s going in for her 2nd vac on friday. I’ll post more pics over the next few weeks so you can see how she is doing and that she is happy!

MemberSince arriving home this little girl has really settled in well. It’s as if she was destined to be Holly’s little sister, they adore each other and spend most of the day playing. She is the most playful pup I have ever met and makes even chasing the sweeping brush a game! (and impossible for me to clean up!
) She loves to bark and is such a cuddler. She’s so full of life and a joy to have in the house. Welcome to the family little girl (oh and don’t worry she’ll be visiting dublin regularly for runs on the beach at malahide!)
