KeemaMember
I’m posting these photos for Phoebe’s new owner.
Here she is with her foster sister who is staying for the summer. I can’t wait to meet her next week
KeemaMemberYAY!! I am so excited about this! I have always had my eye on Lady B and suggested to a friend that she might suit her. Lady B is going to a lovely home where she will be treated like a queen. I can’t wait to meet her
KeemaMemberDetails of the next walk:
KeemaMemberHal asked me to post and send out an SOS! He says to say that while he knows how much his owners love sighthounds and he is quite happy to share his home with a lurcher and 2 greyhounds, he draws the line at having to hang around with this many of those tall, pointy things!! So disgusted he turned his back to the camera! See if you can spot him!
Hal continues to bring lots of joy to our family and is a fabulous, sweet boy who we love very much
KeemaMemberLady Bojangles is beautiful.
I’m not sure where she is based but if you are anywhere near Dublin Amber+Ruby maybe you’d like to bring her along to a ‘Sighthound Stroll’? I set up Sighthound Strolls this year to give sighthound owners a chance to get together for walks and at the same time promote sighthounds as pets.
A large group of sighthounds together attract lots of attention and we had a lady at Sunday’s walk wanting to adopt one of our dogs (who already had a home!) I will be ordering a jacket with ‘I Need a Home’ on it for any rescue dogs who come along to wear which should attract some attention. Also, some of our walkers are often in the process of looking for a new sighthound so who knows who might fall in love with Lady B.
If you would like to post about her on our new forum http://www.sighthound-strolls.proboards.com/ feel free and don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like further information on the walks at sighthoundstrolls@gmail.com
KeemaMemberWow, I can’t believe its been nearly two years since we adopted Hal. He is still living happily with us, our son, our greyhound and lurcher and a newish addition, our 8 month old daughter.
We’re pretty sure Hal is a spaniel/setter x. Being used to lazy sighthounds, we still can’t quite get over how much energy he has, despite being an older chap. He loves loves loves to run and is still ball mad! He is very much a people dog and is still very much attached to me, my constant companion and pal. He is great with other dogs, just not too bothered playing with them, much to our lurchers disgust!
Now that his coat is clipped for the warmer weather, we hear constant refrains in the park from kids of ‘look at that dalmation’
We all love Hal very much and are so grateful we were chosen to be his forever family. Don’t overlook the oldies!
KeemaMemberJust to add that we adopted Hal into our home when our son was 3 months old so if we can manage that then anyone can find a space and time for an older guy or gal ! It also proves that just because you have young children doesn’t mean that you have to get a pup. Its just not true that a dog has to ‘grow up with the children’ to fit in. As Hal had been in a foster home and assessed with children we knew he would be fine with them and he came with the added bonus of being almost fully trained (no one bothered to teach him ‘fetch my slippers’ or ‘make the dinner’ .
Go on everyone, you know you want your very own oldie like Hal
KeemaMemberHal has been with us for around 3 months now and he is doing great. He has teamed up with our 11 year old greyhound and I have named them Team Oldie! These two keep me on my feet with their exploits in the garden. Where one goes, the other is sure to follow.
They are quite keen bird watchers and can often be found staking out the bird table
They are also both very enthusiastic ball fetchers and are very good at doing a synchronised retrieve
Hal particularly likes to retrieve the apples that fall from our neighbour’s tree. As always, I’d just like to take the opportunity to urge everyone to consider an oldie. They have so much to give and there is never a dull moment with our two. In fact they are often more active than our young lurcher
KeemaMemberEverything is still going great with Hal. He is finding his feet in our house and settling really well. He is more into us humans than our other dogs but is beginning to develop a bit of a bond with our greyhound. He follows her around the garden and they often share a bed. He LOVES his walks and we are now able to let him off lead in safe areas. His recall is great (if there are no birds to chase!!!). He is slowly beginning to feel secure around my OH and will go to him for fuss. He’s still a bit of a mummy’s boy though and likes to follow me around. He has been such an easy addition to our family and again I would urge everyone to consider an oldie. Here’s a couple of photos.
Having fun
Chilling out
KeemaMemberGetting a kiss from our greyhound
Looking handsome
Wondering if our lurcher is ever in an upright position (sorry Hal he rarely is!)
Sunbathing
Outtake: Group shot gone wrong (Told him that lurcher is rarely upright!)
KeemaMemberHello. I, along with my OH Dan are the lucky people who got to adopt Hal. His lovely fosterer Amirah asked me to post a few photos on here. Hal has moved in with us and our baby son and 2 other dogs, a 4 year old lurcher and a 10.5 year old greyhound. We completely fell hook line and sinker for the oldies when we adopted our greyhound last year so we decided to add another one to our family.
We have had Hal for a couple of days and he is getting on great. He is slightly wary of my OH so we think he prefers women but he is gaining more confidence and going to him for fuss. Our greyhound is the boss in this house and Hal is happy to respect that after she told him so!! Our lurcher decided to explore his sexuality by trying to hump poor Hal for most of Sunday but has calmed down now and realised that short, stocky, fluffy male dogs aren’t his type
We would urge everyone to consider giving a space in their home to an oldie. They are so grateful for your love and its a great feeling to know that you will provide them with a warm safe home for the rest of their lives. Hal has so much spirit and bounce in him and loves to play and go for walks but he is also happy to rest and lie happily on his bed. No mad puppies for us, no sireee!
I have a couple of photos I am trying to put up for Amirah but it says that my pixels are too high or something. Does anyone know how I can attach some photos please?
