Sorry for not updating you sooner but its been hectic here and I was kinda waiting to have some definate news for you.
Little Miss Mollie continues to amaze us. We have literally been in and out of Tullamore Vet Hospital twice weekly since our last update.
For a while it looked like we had discovered the problem, when she responded really well to a diet of duck/tapioca & turkey/rice only, we were sure she had a food intolerance. She was on her 2nd antibiotic course at this time. I was almost ready to celebrate.
Unfortunately she began vomiting/diarorrea again once antibiotics were finished. Within 2 hours of vomiting she’s in good form again and looking for food.
Blood tests last Saturday revealed Mollie’s liver function is 6 times higher than normal and her pancreas function 4 times higher. She’s eating tiny bits but not enough to really sustain her long term. Sometimes when I give her a new food that she has’nt had before, she will eat a substantial amount and present as loving it but within a few hours will vomit it all back, then she will refuse that same food again (does she blame the food for making her sick ?) So I have to try and think up another different food to try. She continually looks for food when we’r preparing/eating ourselves but then refuses it when its offered to her. It’s just been heart breaking. Yet Mollie is’nt in any pain and apart from taking it easy with regular naps, she is in happy form.
She’s now on her 3rd antibiotic course and also on meds for her liver function. Getting her tablets into her has been an absolute nightmare, I swear she can sniff it out at 40 paces.
Just this morning Mollie had an ultrasound done (I took her to Athy Animal Hospital on advise from my own vet). She was as good as gold. No tumours were found in her tummy/liver, I had prepared myself for the worse. This, they say, is good news but we still dont know the exact problem. It may be liver failure but could be something else. I’m meeting with my own vet tomorrow to decide whats the next step.
Throughout all of this there has not been a day where Mollie has’nt danced and twirled her way up and down our garden, bossing her big brother around. There has not been a morning where she has’nt danced down the hall into our bedroom to wake us up. There has not been an evening where she does’nt snuggle in beside me or my husband on the armchair. She is just amazing.
At times I find it heartbreaking. But someone asked me the other day, ‘ with the benefit of hindsight, would I have rescued a young healthy puppy instead of an oldie with health problems ? What would I have done? I can say without any hesitation I would rescue Mollie a million times over again.
She has taught us so much.
Sending a pic of Mollie on Sat in garden ”1 ear up, 1 ear down”

From Emmas family
Hi DID. I am looking stunning. I love life on the farm in Meath. I share the garden with two cats, my best buddy Donny the dawg, mr & mrs duck.and the hens. I also live with a lot of sheep. I give them a lick every day. I don’t go to the cattle much. They chase me and my mom thinks they will hurt me especially when i want to lick their noses! We go to the mountains in Wicklow on Sundays which combined with my big walk every day keeps my waistline perfect even though i am a labrador. I get two big feeds every day and i must say i am so excited at the thought of food…in fact it makes me drool a lot!!! Thks for finding my perfect home. I am adored and i have so much fun every day. Xx
