Memberfirst of all sorry for the delay in posting about this guy, our internet has been on the fritz
. Anyway, this is fionn as you by now probably know…
He’s been with us for a week and a day now and has settled in really well. when he first arrived he decided within 20 seconds which bed was his, unfortunatly the bed he chose also happened to be taylor and caseys favorite to curl up in, so we had a bit of a stand off for the first few hours, eventually they agreed to a first come basis and in the past few days i’ve seen all three curled up together in the one bed, cute!
he has to be one of the funniest puppies i’ve seen in a long time, he is either asleep or playing and he has pretty big paws which he’s not really aware of, so he is regularly getting caught up in himself and ending up spinning out or on his bum, not one to be beaten by such problems he gets straight up and he’s off again. he is fantastic with our two girls and hasn’t caused them any problems, kinda just slot into their little pack. himself and a friends dog spent a solid two hours playing on sunday only stopping to drink and sleep, so i can’t see him being any issue with other dogs at all, to honest i think if he found a forever home with other dogs he’d be delighted
I think gkd and belinda hit the nail on the head as regards his breed, which is defiantly not a bad thing, i read up on the breed and from all accounts the average "AWS" is either a hunting dog or a much loved family pet and is just as happy to be either one, they are great with kids, are very trainable and like to be mentally challenged. best thing to do is a small bit of research into the breed, keeping in mind, he may not really look it but he is a cross. he is a real beauty, it will be a lucky family that takes him home forever…….

MemberJay picked up Douggie yesterday from Barbra and we have only just copped that we were calling him the wrong name, we have been calling him Dougal. He is such a dote and a big cuddler. He is absolutely in love with the fire and spent most of last night curled up in front of it. He only has had one accident in the house and has been going outside to do his business today. He is food oriented and will sit once there is something tasty in your hand. He is very energetic and well able to hold his own in this madhouse of women. Jay was also very glad that he had a boy for a bit of back up!!!!! We are still getting to know him so will post up some more information as soon as we have some but he has already got a big soft spot in our hearts and all of our friends are fighting over who should get to adopt him. As I type this he has gone to the back door looking to go out.
Chilling out in his favorite spot, a foot away from the fire
Our neighbor with the little man, it took all of 26 seconds for Val to fall in love with him!
having a snooze with taylor

MemberSo we picked up the lovely Diamond yesterday from Kathy’s and it only takes a few seconds to fall madly in love with this beautiful girl. Although she has pneumonia it hasn’t affected her outgoing bubbly personality and even though she is only small she was quick to rule the roost. She is perfectly toilet trained and got through her first night without incident. We also picked up Dougal yesterday and they have become the best of friends and are challenging Taylor for every toy and when they are out of steam they quickly retire to the crate for a snooze together. The first person to come and visit this dog will be coming back the next day at the crack of dawn to take her home as she is just the most perfect and wonderful labrador. She also seems fine about our next door neighbours five cats who are Casey and Taylors arch enemies. In spite of the subject title the vet said she is a perfect example of the breed, so whoever takes her home can look forward to many years of child friendly love and loyalty.
Taking it easy with her uncle Rory

Keeping an eye on the rest of the dogs.

MemberI’m so delighted that Brett is in foster care with you I walked him a couple of weekends ago and he is such a dote I just wanted to bring him home with us but we had Baxter in foster at the time. Anyone who provides him with a forever home will be the luckiest family as he is such a pet and will provide them with so much unconditional love.

Membersorry, i forgot to mention that buddy had his first vac last night, was also microchiped and will be neutered in the next week or two. i have to say fair play to all the hard working members of DID, I’ve never seen people with such a natural yet profound love for the animals they save and we’re very proud to be a small part it!

Memberok, so i thought I’d put up a couple of photos of buddy chilling out, Taylor cut her leg while out walking last night and had to go to the vet(thank god for the UCD late night veterinary hospital). so we’re all taking it easy today and i thought it was the perfect time to show you that although buddy is very happy while active and out and about he also loves a cuddle with us and curling up with Casey and Taylor……
his nature is just as beautiful as his face
the three amigos(this was taken two days ago, hence no bandage on taylor)
chilling out with aoife and loving it
i know buddy will be rehomed with a wonderful family that will give him all the love and affection he deserves, but we’ll really miss him whenever he goes to his forever home and i know Casey and Taylor will miss him too, he really is fantastic!!!

MemberSo we have come to the conclusion that Buddy is a collie/husky cross over the last couple of days his face has got the real husky look about it and he has a a very curly tail. His training is coming on in leaps and bounds, we had our first accident free night last night. He is also starting to learn that if he goes out the back garden we won’t lock him out there and he is the master of sit. Jay is also teaching him to respond to hand signals and he will sit without a word uttered. He is learning stay but there is still a little work to be done. We had our first off he lead walk last night and he is quite happy to walk along beside you and comes when called. He is mad about shoes and is constantly in a tug of war with taylor.

MemberSo we’ve had buddy now for five days and I am falling in love with this little man. He has the most handsome face and fantastically soft coat. He is so enthusiastic and gives you the happiest welcome when you come down in the morning. He loves to play with our dogs and will go all day long but he will also cuddle up beside you for a snooze. Anyone who gets this dog to join their family is going to be so lucky! Aoife

Memberwell, we’ve had buddy for two days now, he is such a pet, if he’s not playing with taylor and casey, he’s curled up on the couch beside us or asleep on the floor, like any collie all he wants is love, affection and the odd bit of exercise, he’s very loyal and has been following me everywhere i go. how anyone could ever let this little man go, let alone abandon him is completely beyond us, he is great, a real dogs dog, if you know what i mean. he’s very smart and quick to learn, for instance, when we picked him up from ashton he didn’t have a name(so we were told, sorry mickmcd, and thank you for doing what you did, if only everyone was so kind) so he became buddy, by 6.30 that evening he knew he was buddy and would come when called. buddy is still a puppy both physically and at heart and has everything you’d expect a pup would have to offer, in the right hands he will be an incredibly well trained dog, in any hands he will be a loving, loyal and caring member of the family. whoever adopts buddy will be a very lucky person/family.
taking it easy beside the water bowl
i had to distract them to get this shot because they were playing
