Chester has been with us for over a week now and he’s well a truly settled in. He’s a sweet natured little fella and yet he has lots of cheeky chappy charm about him too!

He’s got lots going for him; he’s toilet trained, he knows all the basic commands (sit, wait etc), he loves the kids (in particular my daughter), he’s nervous around men but he’s easily won over and it doesnt take long till he drops his defences, he’s a real little cuddler and loves his human friends, and the rest of the time he plays with our dog Daisy.

This is a dog that I KNOW will settle easily into a family environment, he’s easily pleased and really good natured, I hope this happens for him soon.

Day 3 with Chester and I can in all honestly describe him as a little treasure!

He just loves the kids, in particular my 7 yr old daughter, gets on great with Daisy (the dog!) and is now completely relaxed with myself and Steve; he gets so excited when we come down in the mornings, loves his cuddles on the couch and either sleeps or plays with Daisy for the rest of the time!

We went out in the car this morning to the park, this is no bother to him, he just hopped in to the back and sat on the floor, not a peep out of him and he walks really well on the lead after the initial excitement of setting off on our walk.

Chester is a great dog who I think would settle into any family home.

We are minding Chester for 2 weeks while his foster mammy and daddy go on holidays. Chester is a little dote, and settling in really well into our mad house! His foster daddy dropped him off yesterday and he was so nervous for the first few hours, if I put my hand out to pet him he backed off, so scared and frightened. Thankfully that didnt last. But what surprised me was how easily he went to our children who are aged 7 and 8. He immediately allowed them to rub him and play with them and was like a completely different dog with them compared to with me or Steve. Anyway, as the evening wore on he became a little more brave and eventually hopped up and joined us on the couch, he cuddled in and enjoyed lots of ear and belly rubs. He is definitely more cautious around Steve than with me, he must have been very badly treated in the past, but already there is great improvement with Steve who refuses to give up trying to play with him!

Chester is getting on really well with our puppy Daisy, they run around in circles together for hours in the garden and at the doggy park where we brought them this morning … our bischon Rocky is no more interested in Chester than he is in Daisy!

So, thankfully, all is going really well and what we have learnt is that Chester gets on great with kids, we have managed to gain his trust in less than 24 hrs and he likes other dogs!!!!! Roll up, roll up … fab dog available for adoption!!!

Awww, look at the pic of Daisy and Darcy, thanks so much for putting it up, its lovely!

Daisy had her operation yesterday so she is sporting a fancy new lampshade at the moment, I will take some pics once it comes off and post them up on the site.

In the meanwhile I cant say enough about this gorgeous little girl, she really is fantastic. Shes grown a lot but I suspect she may be the smallest of the litter, she’s certainly the smallest of the three we know, maybe some day we’ll get to meet her other siblings????

We did the puppy manners course with the DSPCA and it really set us on the right road with her training. Steve has spent a lot of time training her and she is so responsive – mainly because she is so greedy and will do anything for a treat! Her recall is 100%, she knows all the basic commands (sit, paw, even ‘go to bed’!!), the only area we still need to work on a bit is the pulling on the lead – but hey, she’s still a pup, and practically perfect!!!!!

Thankyou once again DID for helping us find the best dog EVER!!!!!

I cant believe Lexi hasnt been snapped up, she’s such a cutie!! Im another one who’s been following the Lexi thread and keep expecting to see a ‘reserved’ beside her name whenever I sign in. Whats going on???? I’d take her with out a second thought only I think 3 might be too much for us.

I cant believe you still have Lexi, I’ve been following your posts and she looks and sounds gorgeous. We already have a dog and recently adopted (our fostered!!) puppy so I would be killed if I took her, but if I could .. I most definitely would.

Thanks for the good wishes – I think I was the only one who didnt see it coming!! I feel like such a BAD fosterer but I fell in love with Daisy, we all have (with the exception of Rocky, were still working on that one!!).
No doubt Ill be on the boards again, we fully intend to foster again once things settled and I can ASSURE you we wont be keeping a 3rd dog!!!

Darling Deelo left us this afternoon to go to his new home. We were all so sad to say goodbye to him, he has a larger than life personality and had very much become part of the family during his short stay with us. What makes saying goodbye so much easier though is the fact that Deelo has found the most fabulous family where I know he will be played with, exercised, loved and cherished as he deserves to be.

My warmest wishes to Deelo and his new family Finola, David, Jack and Eavan xxx

Daisy has been with us a week now and we’ve all grown to love her very much.

Because she’s still so tiny the children are able to give her lots of cuddles and attention (Deelo is so big for his age he sometimes knocks my youngest over!!!) and she just laps up every minute of it.

She has all the usual puppy characteristics – excitable, fun, full of mischief, chewing toys with vigour etc etc but when you take her in your arms she is so submissive, really really sweet and gentle, definitely a special little girl.

She will get further vaccinations this week so Im really looking forward to taking the dogs on their first walk – I’ll post some pics when I have them.

We have Deelo and Daisy a week now and they’re both settled, happy and lovely as ever!

Deelo remains boss, he’s the dominant character of the duo, capable, clever and smart. He’s so full of fun and mischief, but also so affectionate, he loves nothing more than going asleep on someones knew while having his floppy ears rubbed.

Sometimes I forget how young he is (approx 10 wks now), he’s such a sturdy, well built dog. I imagine he’ll be a fine size when he’s fully grown and if his appetite is anything to go by, he should reach his full potential!!

Because he’s a big dog but still got all the energy of a puppy I imagine he would suit a house with older children. My youngest is 6 and when he jumps up on her he could almost knock her over, of course as he gets a little older and learns what he is and isnt allowed to do, this would probobly stop anyway.

He’ll be getting more vaccinations this week so our first walk looms – Ill keep you posted …..
