    Hi Alan and Judy!
It’s so great to hear you’re bonding so well and doing quite a bit of exploring together. I’ve been thinking of you and Judy in her new home – she’s a very lucky dog and i think she’ll settle in so well.

Please give her a big hug from us over here and yes – i’d dig out that tennis racket, as it sounds like she’ll keep you busy with fetch!

Judy has accomplished so much in the past week, and i’m delighted that she has found her forever home. . . she’ll be leaving us tomorrow. She is the perfect family dog – affectionate, mischievous, obedient, gentle, and so eager to please. And we’ve discovered that she is one fine dog for playing fetch. It occupies hours of our time!

She has learned how to tell us when she needs to go out, and has this endearing way of communicating with her eyes, her head cocked to one side. . patiently waiting for her ‘answer’.

Judy continues to get along well with all the dogs in the park, but if she is in the middle of a game of fetch, she couldn’t really be bothered with socializing! One-track mind. The other day we took her to the strand, and true to her retriever blood, she started chasing the sand that was blowing in the wind. it was quite good entertainment for us!

She’s learning not to pull on the lead. . she’s still very excited to get to where we’re going, but if she has a ball or stick in her mouth, i think she remembers to slow down a little bit.

I haven’t been able to take too many good photos, as she’s often on the move, wiggling her backside as she’s showing off her tennis ball, or sniffing around for any hidden treats. She is an absolutely GORGEOUS dog and has many admirers here!

Judy, we wish you a loving and happy home and thanks for bringing your puppy love to our home! We’ll miss you and think of you often!

We brought Judy home yesterday afternoon and have already fallen in love. She’s very mature for her age, yet still has the playful and mischievous puppy qualities to her. I introduced her to the park before the house to get her used to familiar smells and other dogs in the neighborhood. She is a very strong dog and i don’t think she’s used to being on a lead, but after about 10 min. of walking she slowed down a bit and was barely pulling.

She is extremely good at sitting, staying and coming when she’s called and i get the sense she’ll do anything for a treat! :D She accepts hugs like we’ve known her for years and is all love and affection. We’ve been playing a lot of fetch, as she’s the first foster doggie we’ve had who loves chasing after a ball.

She slept through the night, yet when i woke up at 5:45, she bounded up the stairs and that was that. . no going back to bed for either of us! Today, she’s improved her pulling on the lead and has met several new doggie friends in the park. She is super friendly with people and seems to have developed a trust in us, which is always encouraging.

She is absolutely gorgeous, and has these really shiny brown eyes that seem to communicate very effectively! Her coat is shiny black and she has the happiest and most powerful tail that is going most of the time.

I’ll take some pictures in the next few days, and update on how she’s getting along, although the photos that were posted by Karolina pretty much say it all. :-) She will make some family so truly happy with all the love and excitement she has to give.

It is so wonderful to see how Susie is settling in! We were thinking of her so much over the holidays and am so glad she was able to stay with a great foster family over Christmas, and that she is now settled into her forever home. Thanks for posting photos and updates – it brings a huge smile to my face. Please pass on some kisses and hugs from us – she’s quite a hugger!

More snow means the happiest dog! You can just see the smile spread over her face as she runs through the snow. We went on a long walk last night and she just couldn’t get enough.

And more importantly, last Sunday, Susie’s future family came for a visit and i think everyone fell in love straight away. Susie used to be very wary of new people, and she has started to get much better with meeting strangers in the park, however when this family came, she was so relaxed and affectionate. . . i think she could sense that this family would be great for her. It makes fostering so rewarding (and bearable!) to know that this incredible dog will go to a forever home where they will love her and be so good to her. I’m just so happy.

Another foster parent will take Susie tomorrow as we’re heading back to the US for Christmas. breaks my heart knowing we won’t come back to her, but it makes it all worth it that in a short week, she’ll be in her forever home. She has brought so much to us as a couple, and to us individually. Quite a being, this Susie. I’ll post a few photos – haven’t been taking as many because I think she’s finally on to me and the camera!

My husband wrote this the other day and i thought it’s post-worthy.

Susie is the complete pet. She can be wary of you at first but once you earn her trust (and she doesn’t give it easily), she is utterly loyal. She has the most gentle nature of any being I’ve ever encountered. She’s inquisitive and smart and zero maintenance. Just give her lots of walks and when she’s at home she’ll sit in her bed or some other favoured spot and entertain herself.

She has the run of our house, access all areas, even when we’re not there and has NEVER chewed anything she’s not supposed to, jumped on anything, slept, pooped or peed where she shouldn’t. In fact we can’t fault her. She pulls a little on the lead when walking but a little tug backwards and she slows to your pace. When you feed her, she looks at you as if to ask "Is it ok If I tuck into this now?".

It’s difficult not to talk about her as though she’s a person. She has tonnes of personality and it’s even more difficult not to spoil her. She’s extremely female and even daintily crosses her front paws when she lies down. We’ve never heard her bark or growl, in fact the only noise she makes is when she yawns. She goes to bed when we do and doesn’t stir until we get up and greets us every morning with a wagging tail and what can only be described as a smile. She is wonderful.

She has more manners and grace than most humans and we’d dearly love for her to have a nice home with a family who will look after her in the way she deserves. Ideally with a big yard for her to run and explore and possibly another dog for company. The pay back will be immense. She’s not just a pet, she’s a friend and you will not find a more lovable being than Susie.

One good thing about the snow continuing is the enclosed tennis court in the park (which normally doesn’t allow dogs) is still covered in snow, and i’ve taken it upon myself to have this as Susie’s ‘training area’. She’s able to run like the wind here, and then learn that when she’s called, she needs to come back. She still gets very distracted when other dogs are around because she just wants to play, but here, she’d doing a very good job of learning there are treats for her if she comes!

I let her off the lead briefly to play with a dog who i know and who knows to stay close to her owner. And they played and rolled and jumped and tumbled. Exactly what she needed! And she came back on the lead no problem. It’s a slow process, but she’ll get there. It is good to see her playful side really come alive. She’s encountered many a small and grumpy dog . . she’s usually perplexed and doesn’t know how to treat them. I’ve seen her lick quite a few dogs to show them she’s not rough. It’s quite adorable ;-)

That’s it for now – i’ll try to post a few more photos this week.

Susie is currently sitting out in our yard, watching the snowflakes come down. Her husky side has come out in this weather – she seems made for it! She’s learning fetch gradually with snowballs. Yesterday I was stranded due to the weather and she was alone for much of the day, yet when i finally burst in the door, she just came over for lots of love and reassurance. Even outside after she did her thing, she just came over and lay down in the snow to have her belly rubbed. She is just pure love. I call her Saint Susie. :D

The neighborhood children love her, but she’s still hesitant to receive affection from 6 eager hands reaching for her. I think she does need her own space in that sense, and needs to build a trusting relationship before she can really relax around people. I had a friend over last week who is a huge animal lover and once Susie sensed this, she just melted in the arms in my friend. She continues to be great with other dogs and just wants to play!

She is a very very special doggie and will offer so much to a future family . She is a perfect blend of maturity and obedience, and puppy love and a little mischievous twinkle! Here are a few photos of Susie in the snow.

Susie is the most incredible dog to come home to! She is calm, affectionate, so loving, but not smothering, and is just a very very special dog. She continues to only pee and poop in the back yard, and that’s also where she can get out a lot of her running and playfulness, so this morning, I started teaching her fetch. . with green tomatoes that never made it through the frost.

She wasn’t too fond of sticks or balls, but when I throw a tomato, she’ll chase after it at full speed, carry it gently in her mouth, toss it up in the air, catch it again, and gradually bring it back for me to throw again. I’m not quite ready to take green tomatoes to the park, but it’s great fun in the back for now :-)

She is getting along great with all the dogs in the park. The hard part is having to say goodbye and continue on her walk. She doesn’t bark at all – the only sound I have heard out of her are quiet little whimpers when she’s excited and wants to play more with other dogs. She’s still timid with people at first, especially eager pre-teen girls who approach her with ‘oohs and ahhs’ and can’t wait to pet her.

She’s sleeping through the night without a peep, and today I left her alone for 4 hours and the house was left untouched and she was just eager and happy to greet me when I came back.
Currently, she brought herself into her doggie bed and is sleeping soundly while we watch the doom and gloom on the news. Here are a few photos of our day :-)

Here are a few photos from the day. Suzy knows when she’s ready for bed and slept through the whole night without a peep. She was still in her doggie bed when i came down in the morn. She is eating a little better with us and is just drinking in any affection she can get. I’m starting to see her playful side, but even when she’s playing, she’s extremely gentle.

She’s just a gem! I’ll post more soon.

Well, Zora, or Suzy as she’s been called, arrived to us this afternoon. It is clear how she was so loved and cared for by her previous family. She’s absolutely lovely! Suzy was a bit timid at first and took her time to wander around the house and get acquainted, but she has found her place on the rug and is accepting my occasional tummy rubs. She has fur that’s made of silk!

We took her out for a walk in the park and she immediately fit in with the other dogs there, large and small. Really friendly with people as well. She has this independent nature to her, where she’s completely content to sit on the other side of the room and just watch you or keep herself busy with her toy. She is also quite the lady! She sits with her legs crossed and everything. And when she runs, she has a slight gallop and her graceful white paws just seem to float over the grass. We’re wondering if she might have a slight mix of Greyhound in her, among her Collie and Husky mix.

I absolutely agree that she would be the perfect family dog, in that she is apparently great with children, cats, other dogs, and she has this really gentle nature about her. My 7 year old nephew is coming over tonight, so we’ll see how they get on. I’m really excited to get to know her more, and i’ll post some pictures and more updates in the next few days.

I love the image of the two of them all cuddled close on one bed! He’s such a smart fella. best wishes to him and his new family!
