Thanks Alex! That’s a super picture, looks like a really clever collie. I have a collie who is a people-dog BUT even at 10 years is as giddy and strong willed (aka obstinate  ). He also fears loud noises. The other lad the spaniel cross (DID dog) is very good at the vets, doesn’t mind being examined, but is a bit inclined to worry though. Very little will have him giving out the nose-licking and whale-eye signals. Its a pity because they are great pals to my elderly parents.

I was thinking though that some people on here may well have dogs with a great way about them and it would be an organisation they could consider putting them in for. Fair play to you seeing the opportunity, I think it’s good for your dog too since he likes people, working and wants to please. Great video of him in the link to good old photobucket (sending him off and he returning for a treat). Elaine

Wait now Hamish, where did that November sun come from? Your coat looks so shiny in the sun. Are you sure you’re not using one of them celebrity photographers there :D ?

When we were in town on Saturday, raising awareness for Dogs in Distress, I saw Irish Therapy Dogs there. I was wondering how Fraizer is getting on with his volunteer work and if he is enjoying it? When he did his assessment, what sort of qualities made him suitable? Oh, and a photo would be lovely too!

It was very kind of the Dogs Aid folks and super dogs Millie, Emily, Storm and Lucy to come along and raise awareness for DID. Thank you, much appreciated.

Count me (and my thermal long-johns  ) in for 11-2. Cold weather "is promised" for Saturday. If you’re passing by come up and say hi.

Oh Cooper, someone should have said that all collies are cheeky brats. It’s because you are just so clever and you know what your human’s are thinking. Now stop running around and go and watch Mastermind or University Challenge, OK!

I think it is a big deal that Cathy is putting her energy into this for DID. I can’t begin to imagine where you would start. First off, the getting people to write songs about dogs (and dogs alone, no scope to pick something else like cats or rabbits) would be like giving kids an essay to do in Irish during the mid-term break. It’s a tough, niche topic there. Then the rehersals, the recordings, the getting up in front of people, the journalists. I’m wrecked just thinking about it!

We’re doing Kris Kindle at work and I was thinking that the album would be perfect for a colleague of mine who has 2 dogs, and guess what, I got her name out of the tin! what are the chances!!! :o (OK, I did make an excuse and put back the other 2 names I picked before hers  ).

Fair play to you all, and thanks from the dogs helped and yet to be helped.

Thanks San. I believe I saw somewhere there’d be 15 singles about dogs. I agree, it would be good to have something to mark the release. It is a the best strategy to keep up the momentum of the LLS publicity.

Hi San, there’ll be others more in the know than myself about this that can give updates perhaps. This is as far as my geeky research has got me. The album is due for release on the 7th of December, will be called Oscar The Hypno-Dog and Other Tales. One Ear Up, One Ear Down was written for Molly dog, she is named in the lyrics, written by Cathy Davey. The song is ALL about this crazy, mixed up hound adopted by Cathy from Dogs in Distress some time ago. The band is Harry Holler and the Hooligans. There are a few of the faces in the band, Sharon Shannon and Neil Hannon as well as Cathy.

Here is the chopped up Late Late Show with just this song:

I believe the whole album will be about dogs. I’m not too well up on "the scene" so can’t figure out who else is in the band, I bet those in the know could point them out. I’m not clued in to iPods and that so I’m hoping to buy an actual physical CD, as they used to call them in my day, after we got rid of the record player. The proceeds are going to Dogs in Distress. I hope my efforts help!

Watch this space for more (accurate) details…
