KeymasterI brought this man to his new home yesterday with the help of Brenda who collected him.
He has settled in really well
, had lots of walks and slept all night without a peep.
Got a cooked breakfeast this morning with his nuts and was settling into a mince stew when I phoned at lunch time.
Thanks a million to Sarah and her Mum for picking him up and giving him a chance. When they found this boy he was totally mattted and they got him groomed or shaved as he had to be to sort him out.He is such a super little man, lovley friendly personality and just chilled out.
I will get photos next week so Sarah and her Mum can see how he is getting on.Anne his new Mum is reading Sarahs letter about him and following all instructions to the lettter.
Update soon.DID Rescue
KeymasterWell done Maura for taking this little girl on in her hour of need.
You did a fantastic job with her and more importantly with her babies even though this was a first for you…………you coped very well. You have now been upgraded to maternity nurseAll these babies have had the best start in life anyone could ask for well fed, well loved and most importantly well cuddled.
I do hope we get updates and the new familys realise how lucky they are to get such good pups, in such good condition and well adjusted. The reason I am stressing the care our foster homes give is as follows……… I was shocked by this today, I shoud not be but I still am.
A lady bought a three month old Scotttish Terrier pure bred 4 weeks ago in Wexford and paid 350.00 euros.
For that she got no papers, no vaccinations .
She took the pup home and had to go to a vet immediatley as the pup couldnt eat as it was worm infested and full of fleas.
Since then the pup is terrified of everything, wees in her bed, has not been weaned properly, has difficulty eating, scared of toys and is really having a difficult time. The vet told her the pup will probably always be like this as in generally shy and never be a confidant little person. The owner phoned the breeder to find out where the pup had lived and was told in a she on straw.
Now tell me how this is allowed, acceptable or humane.
Yet all our pups for a minimum donation of 150.00 euros are properly wormed, vaccinated, microchipped, socialized, loved, fed the best food, have treats, toys, dont fear humans and have lived in a home environment. This makes me sick that these people are making money out of dogs misery and not putting one ounce of effort in and better still in a recession people paying for the privelage of buying a disfunctional puppy.
What is wrong with people if they were buying a car they would get it checked out but they are buying a little person who will be with them for the next 10 to 15 years possibly and they do nothing………not even a vaccination card.
I REALLY DESPAIR.Sorry for the rant and I dont want to take away for Mauras pups but to point out how lucky people are getting a pup from Dogs In Distress.

KeymasterLovley to see them all curled up and snug in their beds.
Well done Cathy, Jimmy and Nicole you are doing a great job with them all they look contented. It must be such a big new world for them, just as well they are so young they will forget the bad bits and move on and realise the world is not such a bad place after all.Have to say if you were looking for a small cute collie pup you would be spoilt for choiceDID Rescue
KeymasterWell today has brought even more improvements in the little man.
Tonight I had him in the kitchen with just my own Setter Rudi and for the first 30 mins he just paced. Then Kealan my eight year old came in and he panicked for a few mins.
We all ignored him even Rudi seasoned pro with foster dogs and then he approached Kealan to say hello. After that I decided to be brave and open the door to see if he would come outside, again he was worried and kept looking out and running away.
Then Rudi gave him the lead he needed and he trotted out, and then in and out and in and out.
I then tried to see if he trusted me enough and I went out and called him, I was delighted he followed and in 5 mins he was romping around the garden running up to me for a pat and off again.
As most will know this was a major step for him as he is very wary of humans.
He certainly has never been in a house before.
Tomorrow I will let him meet two of my other dogs Jamie and Lulu and see how he gets on.
His skin has toned down about three shades now.
He still loves his food and is game for any varietys which is good.
Treats he is getting there picking and choosing.
Last night I took him for a walk down the road here which is very quiet and we only met one car who slowed right down for us but he is really scared of cars at the moment but later on in the week I will take him with a confident one and see how he gets on.
At the moment we are just building up trust, starting to meet the others here in installments, treating the scabs and softening the skin and of course feeding him all he wants.
He really has lead a sheltered neglected life but even now only six days he is responding really well.
More updates soon.DID Rescue
KeymasterWell done to you all again another little orphan getting a new start.
She will be a well adjusted child in a few days in your careDID Rescue
KeymasterWell the good new is I am collecting this little man tomorrow and. taking him home for a week . We have decided he is not strong enough yet for the real mange washes so I will treat him homopatically for the week and feed him up. He will then hopefully go back for an Aludex wash after the week.
He has had daily washes to reduce the yeast forming bacteria, had his ears cleaned out and the hair removed and been treated with Advocate so what I am hoping to achieve is to boost his own immune system a bit with a herbal remedy from Herbalwise and some homeopathic remedies from Tom Farrington and gain his confindence so that he does not feel on his own so much.

KeymasterPepper is with me at the moment and Myla is putting her in her place, its really funny to watch as Myla is so small but full of attitude.
Pepper has been spayed on Monday and is doing well I was able to take off her lampshade after 24 hours and she has not bothered about the stitches which is great.
She is getting used to all the activity here and is starting to play ball.
She is getting more confident every day but will still need some understanding to progress in her new home.DID Rescue
KeymasterThis poor boy is improving daily.
Yesterday I brought him Chicken and potatoes and he dived in wagging his tail. He has started to eat treats as well. The day before he had ham, grated cheese and loved the probiotic youghurt on his nuts.
He has had another bath and allowed the vet to clean out his ears without a sedative which was great. He cannot be treated for mange yet as he is too weak and would not survive it.
At the moment we are consentrating on building him up and getting his immune system working again.
Thanks to Anne Tempo for making sure he got his second chance.
Will keep you updated. -
