MemberWell, Casper is going from strength to strength! He had a visit from Kathy and Kim yesterday and got his first vax and was chipped. He was very good and only gave a little whimper at the chipping stage. He is a really accepting little guy – whatever discomfort he is in, from kennel cough to healing stitches to a cone around his head to lights being shone in his eyes to a lump of metal being injected under his skin, he takes it all in his stride!! He has become "one of the gang" here and tears up the stairs to wake me up every morning along with the rest of them – if ever a king size bed was required, this is the time!! I know he would love to say a HUGE thank you to everyone in DID and in Terenure vets for the care he has received since he landed in Ashton 5 weeks ago. Without a doubt, he would have been a statistic in "In Loving Memory" without their help. As for me and all the Colgan family, we have had the wonderful experience of fostering this little man and it is – as it has been with ALL our foster dogs – the most amazing experience. Keep those foster dogs coming!!

MemberImagine my foster mammy letting me slide to page 3 of Dogs in Fostercare!!! Poor old Casper was neutered today – third attempt cos he has been so sick with the gastrointestinal virus and then a bout of kennel cough. For all that, he bounced in to the vets this morning – I suppose its like a home from home for him at this stage! Picked him up an hour ago and he is doing fantastically, thank God. Managing the BIG collar quite well and SO patient with it all. He is the most lovable, affable pup in the world. He has a mad crush on Tigra and even she – stroppy madam that she is – has fallen in love with him too. So glad its all over for him, he really deserves a bit of peace and quiet in his life!! At least until he gets vaxed and microchipped . . . . . Thrilled to have him home!!!!

MemberDelighted to report that Casper is now safely home! He is in great form and was delighted to see his foster brother and sisters – the feeling was mutual!! He is still an absolute dote, just lies on the floor beside you when he is not involved in a game of tag or chasing or tug of war with the others. Thanks to all who kept him in their thoughts during the past week and we are thrilled there has been a "happy ending" for this little guy.

MemberOh my God!! What a transformation. Jessie must be feeling a million dollars after her makeover. You really ARE a miracle worker. And what a sweet, pretty dog you unearthed from under all that fur and matts and dirt. Well done and the very best of luck to you, Jessie, in your foster home. With a bit of luck – and your handsome new "do", you will have a new forever home in no time.

MemberAt last, after 4 days almost comatose, Casper is beginning to pick up today!! I can’t believe it and we are thrilled for the little guy. He is still in the vets being given the very best of care – thanks to all in Terenure vets, especially Mark and Adrienne – but we are so relieved that he is beginning to come around. A big thank you to all who kept their fingers crossed for him. Just keep them crossed a LITTLE longer so that he continues to improve!!!!

MemberPoor old Casper is still very sick in Terenure vets! But at least he is hanging in there although I am sure he feels utterly miserable. Mark in the vets has been absolutely wonderful both in his dealings with Casper and his compassion and patience for Casper’s heartbroken foster mammy. Keep everything crossed for him still.

MemberPoor Casper is in the vets on a drip today after he became very ill yesterday. He started vomiting with diarrhoea and was really unwell. He couldn’t even keep water down! Brought him to Terenure vets first thing this morning and am sitting here at the phone waiting to hear how he is doing. Felt so sorry for him because he was a pure pet on Easter Sunday when we had a full house from a 2 year old up to grandparents and he was wonderful with everyone – he especially liked my sister’s very young children and followed them around to play. He is the easiest pup to have around – not jumpy or barky or nippy or fussy or demanding in ANY way!! We are crazy about him and I can’t wait to get him back when he is hopefully feeling a lot better. Keep fingers and toes crossed for him.

MemberI am so thrilled to see Stryder settled at long last. He appealed to me from the first minute I saw him. Maybe its the likeness to our own Mollie!! A long and happy life to you, Stryder.

MemberWe picked up this little man from Ashton this afternoon and we are already in love! He is a beautiful pup, like a cuddly teddy bear. All he wants is to sit on a lap and be cuddled. He is not at all fazed by our mad trio and even Tigra is gradually being won over. He is extremely well behaved – when we gave him a bath, he just sat down and submitted to the rubbing and rinsing. He even enjoyed a blow dry – a real novelty as our own three HATE the hair dryer. He loves everyone and doesn’t appear neglected which makes you think he must have had a good home. But he hasn’t a clue about toilet training which is unexpected if he was with a family. All in all, a fabulous pup. Will try to post photos – although this has totally defeated me in the past.

MemberWhen you end up on page 3 of Dogs in Fostercare, it is DEFINITELY time for a new post!!! Denzel, whom we call Cuchulainn, had his first outing yesterday and boy did he love it. He has watched disdainfully as our other three go out several times a day so this was a REAL treat. We took him to Killiney beach and he ran and bounced along with the rest. He LOVED the water and the waves – a shock to us because Sam and Tigra are petrified of the waves. All four of them slept the sleep of the dead in the car on the way home. Denzel is a real full of life puppy so to get several hours of "comatose" was a novelty! He will be going to his forever home soon and we will miss him terribly but maybe we will have a spell when our clothes are not punctured by teeth marks and our shoes are safe – and that’s when we are WEARING them!!! This guy is a treasure and his new family will adore him, just as we do.

MemberDenzel has been with us since Friday morning and he is just adorable!! He is a typical lively, happy, mischievous puppy with oodles of energy – no doubting the collie in him! He has settled in really well and is taking no guff from our own three, regardless of the size difference. He barks, yaps, wrestles and grapples with the best of them and it took my husband all of his time to emerge victorious from the sock tug of war this morning. He is an intelligent fellow (Denzel, not my husband!!) and he seems to be almost instinctive as regards the toilet training. We always had collies before our present trio and Denzel is SO typical of the breed. I am glad he won’t be with us long or we would never let him go!! A great pup – will be a wonderful addition to his forever home.

Good Luck wherever you’ve gone little oneColganFamily
MemberWell, Bubbles is DEFINITELY gone – aren’t we great!!! Fidelma came for her last night bearing gifts for us all – sweets for the humans, pigs ears for our own three and a brand new collar and lead for Bubbles. We were sad to let her go but thrilled to see her go to a wonderful home with three other dogs and real dog loving humans!!
All the very best, my little baby. Have a happy life!!!ColganFamily
