This little girl continues to thrive and delight us all here.
She has become really playful and can make a game around ANYTHING!! If she finds a scrap of paper on the floor, she will invent some chasing game around it and knock such fun out of it. She loves the bigger dogs and ADORES Sam who, as always, is imminently patient with her although Mollie is still the preferred bedmate!! Pippy has even started to cop on to the toilet training and she has taken herself outside off her own bat a few times when she needs to perform A great little pet, she is a real treat to foster. But the good news is he is DEFINITELY on the mend. He has really brightened up in the last few days, he is off the drip, eating and drinking and dying for a play when I bring him out to the run at the back of the vet premises. He has had residual vomiting up to yesterday though and that is why he is still there. I can’t WAIT to get him home. I am really hoping for tomorrow cos it breaks my heart to leave him crying after me when I go to visit him Thanks to everyone who said a little prayer and sent a positive thought to Pepper – it really helped. I have never seen an attitude so big in a dog so small. She wants to be in the middle of everything that is going on and, try as we all might, she inevitably gets knocked over or almost stood on. However, she just picks herself up and carries on – usually with a warning growl to the creature (human or canine!!!) that has upended her!! When Minnie, her bedmate, left on Sunday, she HOWLED in the utility room cos she flatly refused to stay in there on her own. When we let her out, she hopped into the bed with Sam and there wasn’t a peep out of her for the rest of the night. She is just about a kilo in weight now and a TON in personality! CAM_0527.JPGPippy went a-visiting today and we discovered that she LOVES small children.
I took her over to visit my sister (and to show her off) and she adored playing with my sister’s two little girls – 11 and 4 years old. She also loves our cat – who is a large grumpy tom cat with little time for small baby dogs. So I can’t think of any home where this little baby wouldn’t fit in. She loves cats, children, other dogs – what more could you ask for??? Well our little minx went off to her new life this morning and the house is SO QUIET!!
We had her in foster for a long time so we will really miss her but I know she really needed to find her very own "happy ever after" and I know she has found that with Gillian and Aran. I did the home visit myself so I was there from start to finish and Minnie will have a great life. All the best, my little angel. Poor little Peps has been down in Terenure vets since Sunday and we are missing him like crazy here.
He has succumbed to some sort of tummy bug and he has been really sick. I have been visiting him and today he appears to be on the mend – he is a little brighter and has started to eat and drink. Can’t wait to get him home so all fingers crossed please. Big achievement for this little lady
At this morning’s weigh-in, she is just under 1 kilo!!! Way hey!!! Well this little pipsqueak is coming along brilliantly.
She was a bit overawed when she first arrived and found the bedlam that is normal in the Colgan household a bit overwhelming but NOT ANY MORE!!! She gives out yards to anyone who piddles her off and Minnie has been on the receiving end of many a tongue-lashing. She warns Casper off too and he hasn’t a clue what to make of her! She adores the humans in the house and everyone who comes in is greeted like a long lost friend – then Pippy proceeds to climb up on to your shoulder and eat your hair (definitely a fetish!! ) She started a new trick yesterday. She climbed into the feeding bowls that we have for the bigger dogs and paddled away, throwing the food out each side of the dish! Things took a really comic turn then when Sam and Casper decided to try to eat WITH her in the bowl – the two snouts working their way in around her was hilarious to watch. This baby is really tiny and will be very small even when fully grown – a real little pocket rocket!! CAM_0505.JPGWell this little baby just has to win the smallest puppy ever competition!!! She is TINY – only 800 grams in weight!
The others here don’t know what to make of her – even Minnie and Pepper look gigantic compared to her not to mention the biggies!! We are trying to get a photo with Sam just to show how titchy she is but no luck yet. Poppy is quite feisty and lets the others know she is around but she is at a massive size disadvantage to be able to play any games whatsoever, much to Minnie’s disgust. Minnie – another lady with attitude – to her credit, is being quite gentle with her, but Poppy is "at risk" even with her. She has spent most of the time since her arrival up in someone’s arms for her own safety!! She is eating away but I must confess to sharing our bed with her last night – a thing I never do – but I couldn’t decide where to put her that she wouldn’t be squished. Update again soon. She has grown into a really gorgeous girl. Thanks so much for the update. It is wonderful to be able to follow the foster dogs’ lives after they leave us. Give her a big hug from all the human Colgans and a big wet lick from all the doggie ones. This little man is a CHARACTER!!!
He is the funniest, quickest, most agile, most alert little guy imaginable. He can climb like a mountain goat, balance on his hind legs like a ballerina, jump like an Olympian and dance like Michael Flatley! He is chocfull of attitude and personality and he has taken the house here by storm – in the nicest possible way. He seems to know to sit when asked but I don’t think he was ever taught. He is really in tune with tones of voice and loves to be spoken to by any of the humans in the house. He adores laps and will find any available lap for a snooze when he is tired – but I must say he doesn’t tire easily!!! He has boundless energy!!! A real intelligent little man, a very unique individual and a pure joy to foster!CAM_0498.JPGWell this little lady continues to thrive!
The arrival of Pepper helped her hugely to cope with the trauma of losing Munchie and the two are the best of pals. They are such demons – both of them – and when they get manic (tearing around in a game of chasing or wrestling or tug of war) we all just sit back and wait until peace descends again. Minnie is very self assured and gives back cheek when she is reprimanded – a little bark and a nod of the head in your direction and you know she is not impressed!!! That said, she is extremely lovable and affectionate, loves her grub, loves her sleep, loves her family. I would love to see her in her very own forever home soon.
