MemberBear continues to be an absolute joy to foster!
He has cracked the toilet-training, sleeps like a baby (on the bed he has made himself
), eats like a horse, loves his play and adores his cuddles. He is super smart too and has picked up all the tricks of the trade from his canine siblings here. He is a TOTAL chatterbox and he has full length conversations with my husband who, incidentally, has created a whole new language to converse with Bear!
He – Bear, not Niall – has started to accompny us on our morning walks and he is UNBELIEVABLY good. He stays very close and if he does go a little bit away to greet someone, he returns immediately when called.
Can’t say enough good things about this little guy. He developed an interest in rugby at the weekend (as you can see in the pic below). Now if I can just turn him into a Chelsea (kings of Europe, I might add!!!) fan, my life will be complete!!!

MemberI can relate to that!
We were "stopping" after Tigra, DEFINITELY stopping after Mollie, absolutely definitely stopping after Casper and then along came Thor!!!!
You won’t regret it though. Benji looks gorgeous and right at home with your other dogs. Wishing you all – human and canine – a long and happy life together.

MemberOur gorgeous little man (did I just say "little"????) continues to thrive and grows more adorable and confident by the day.
He loves to play with any toy he can find – or, more correctly, any toy the bould Thor, Tigra and Casper will let him have!
He fights his corner up to a point, then happily wanders off to another when he is outsized or outwitted (I haven’t broken it to the others that ONE DAY he will be bigger than any of them!!!!
) He is a great grubber and he loves his bed – so much so that when we put his own blanket away in the morning, just to make some walking room in the kitchen, he retrieves it from the utility room, puts it in the EXACT spot we put it in at night and lies on it, wearing an expression that says "I have no intention of slumming it in one of the other beds!!!"
He is a real chatterbox too and if anyone talks to him, he answers back both waggily and vocally. We just love him to bits – a real character!!

MemberFantastic, Carolyn!! He looks great.

MemberOur gorgeous little man has really settled in here and is growing in confidence and self-assurance by the day.
Gone is the crying when you leave the room to be replaced by a cheeky yap when he is not getting his own way!!!
Honest to God, if we reprimand him in any way, he stands his ground and answers us back with the cutest little bark – and expression!! – that says "You really want to go there?"!!! He is always up for a game and settles down with the others at bedtime without a peep out of him (apart from the first night when you would swear the werewolves were on the prowl, so loud was his howling!!!!)
Toilet training is a work in progress. Bear is GAS! We never see him going but we find plenty of little puddles around the place. To be fair, he DOES go outside sometimes – and he makes sure we see him go then (anything for a treat or a word of praise). A great little man!!!

MemberReceived a quick update from Freya’s new family:
"Freya was playing for hours with Lucy (her new big sis) today. They were playing tug of war with a teddy when the kids and I arrived home
She is really gentle and playful and Lucy responds to this by, in turn being gentle with her."
Seems the lovely Freya is just as big a hit in her forever home as she was with us!

MemberDo you know, I am not ONE BIT surprised at the antics of this little man! We only had him a short time but he was – and IS, I can see – an absolute character!!!
He really believed he was in charge with us too, even of the much bigger dogs that are permanently here!!!! I am so thrilled to keep hearing about the little man’s escapades – that last picture is a riot. Thank you so much, Brian and Marie for giving this guy the truly wonderful home he really deserves.

MemberWell yesterday marked the very sad (for us) and very happy (for Freya) day our beautiful girl went off to her very own happy ever after.
And if any dog EVER deserved a special "happy ever after" then it is Freya.
She was a pure joy to foster from start to finish and I feel – as I always do with these ultra special dogs – SO privileged to have been able to share five weeks of this little lady’s life with her. Fostering is without doubt the BEST thing I have ever done!!! Have an absolutely WONDERFUL life, baby girl – you really deserve it.

MemberHopefully her new family will keep us updated. We are going to miss her like CRAZY
but she is going to a great home with loads of land for her to run around in and a gorgeous big sis, a chocolate lab called Lucy.

MemberWell it was 1 year ago yesterday that Pepper (now Thor) came to live with us, first as a foster and then ours to keep!
He is an absolute pcket rocket – much smaller than any of the other canine residents here but with about TEN TIMES the attitude!!!!
He is the cheekiest, bouldest little strop that ever was created and he has a look that says "You REALLY want to go there???" If Thor had his way, everyone in the family – human and canine – would be under his express command. That said, when he snuggles up on your lap in one of his rare moments of sleepiness, he is still the same little cuddle monster that we met on day 1! Reading back over his thread, it is so hard to remember that he spent many days at death’s door and his convalesvence was lengthy but, by God, has he recovered!!!!
Look at the cheeky face in the pic below. . . . And on the table to boot!!!!

MemberDelighted to report that as we passed by the road where Kibbles now lives, we decided to (cheekily!!!) pop in to see how he is doing. He is looking absolutely FANTASTIC and was delighted to see us.
He also got the chance to meet Freya and the two got on great. Kibbles is adored by his family and he looks so happy and settled in his very own "happy ever after" home. SO happy to see you again, my special man and thank you, Sarah, Jonathan, Poppy and Rosie for making us so welcome.

MemberTypical Irish weather – from sunshine to rain in minutes
However, the rain did give me a chance to learn something new about our little angel – she LOVES the rain (or at least she doesn’t mind it!!!!) When she went "missing" this morning, I went to look for her and found her out in the garden playing with the raindrops
She kept trying to catch them and got soaking wet paws patting away at the ripples the rain made in the puddles out the back. Then she proceeded to climb up on the table to drink the rain that had collected there – so funny to see.
I found it particularly funny because all the other dogs here absolutely HATE the rain and look at me wth a wistful "make it go away" expression when I take them out in it!!!
Freya is certainly different.
