WP_000192.jpgColetteMemberThanks for your kind comments. We are so happy that Meg has become part of our family. She never stops showering us with love and kisses. She is very gentle, obedient, and intelligent and gets on great with other dogs and people. She has settled in so well we feel she has been with us for years. She is very caring to our new foster patient Mandy. She loves her walks on the beach and it is wonderful to see her running through the dunes without a care, you can see the happiness in her face. I often think when she is sleeping soundly in her bed how she ended up in the Pound like so many other fantastic dogs. It’s great she has got a second chance at life and we are the lucky ones to be able to share it with her. Staffies make the most amazing, affectionate and loyal pets and it’s so sad that very few of them are re-homed in this country. Will post photos soon.
ColetteMemberSorry for the delay in posting about our little sweetheart Meg. This is the first time that I have been in a position to foster even though my heart has been breaking every time I have gone to the pound to take out the dogs that have been lucky enough to have found homes. I have always seen the Staffies being left there, nobody seems prepared to give them a chance at life so I always thought that when my circumstances change a Staffie would be the first dog that I would foster. What can I say about this little gem, she is the most gentle, affectionate and loving dog you could ever meet. We will never need to wash ourselves because she is constantly licking us to bits!! She is so obedient, loves her food, God love her she is just skin and bones at the moment, enjoys her walks and trips in the car. Today I took her to the beach to see if she would fancy a paddle in the sea and had to laugh when she started drinking it instead. Obviously it was a first time experience for her. Will post some pics of our beautiful girl tomorrow
ColetteMemberI’m delighted to hear that Brittany is staying with her wonderful foster family. Lara you have done an amazing job with her, what a transformation from the day we brought her out of the pound to you, an extremely nervous, scared and starving little pet. It was great to have met her out on her walk recently with her foster sister Stella looking so happy, friendly and confident.
Happy endings makes all the work worthwhile

Just another example of the wonderful work done by D.I.D.

ColetteMemberGoodbye Mr. Scruffy RIP
Goodbye doesn’t always mean the end, it can also mean a new beginning. For poor old Scruffy it will be a new beginning running free in Rainbow Bridge. I had the absolute privilege to take this beautiful creature out of the Pound the day he was put to sleep. God love him he was in a terrible state; his hair was badly matted, his right eye was completed closed over with infection, his left eye covered in warts. He could barely breathe through his nose and was very unsteady on his feet . As he lay down in the back of the car as we brought him to Kathy – my hubby and I both knew – but we never spoke about it. Scruffy was not going to make it for much longer in this cruel world. But we were happy at least that he wouldn’t die in the Pound – alone, sick, stinking of urine and unloved. He would die in the company of someone who loved him – even though she hardly knew him. When we said our goodbyes and left him in the loving care of Kathy we still never spoke about it but what we all were certain about the inevitable end game. Kathy gave him his final few hours of love and affectionate. Later that evening the vet decided that Scruffy had suffered enough and he was put to sleep – at last a respite from his unnecessary suffering. The previous owner of this dog should hang their head in shame. God’s speed Scruffy – taken from our lives but always present in our hearts. XXXColetteMemberThere are times to be silent and times to speak out. There are times to be proud and times to be ashamed. There are times to be happy and times to be sad. Now is such a time. The recent death of Mondo in the Pound is a time for sadness and shame. Sadness, because he deserved better. Shame, because we didn’t do enough. How must that poor little mite have felt left abandoned, un-cared for, unloved, cold, lonely and sick for over four weeks in the Pound. Mondo’s death is unacceptable. It means we have failed. And we cannot fail, we must not fail and we will not fail because there are so many of these beautiful creatures relying on us, depending on us, hoping on us – and we owe it to them. How many of us saw his sad little face on the website and said to ourselves “someone will take him out.” We always think someone else will do it – well there isn’t always someone else to do it. If we can learn anything from this profoundly sad death let it be this – we must try harder. Otherwise poor Mondo will have died in vain. So, can we please, please look once again at those poor little mites in the Pound and see how many we can get out, if even just to foster homes for the time being. Because if we don’t it’s not just ourselves we are letting down, it’s every single dog out there. We’re so sorry we didn’t do enough for you, Mondo. God’s speed little darling. Enjoy your time in Rainbow Bridge. You may be gone from our lives but you will never be absent from our hearts. We will never forget you – XXXXX
ColetteMemberAnne you have done a fantastic job with Travis just saw photo of him today and can’t believe he is the same dog we brought from the pound only last week. He looks so happy now such a contrast to the very sad looking lad we left with you. Delighted to hear he is feeling well again and wouldn’t those eyes just melt your heart. Well done. Colette
ColetteMemberSo delighted to see Brittany settling in so well with Lara. She was a treasure to bring to her new foster mum, she was so quiet, nervous and and yet so loving in the car and they said in the pound that she was an angel and she definately is. She will make a wonderful friend to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her. Colette
