Hi everyone. Sorry I haven’t updated since Lily fka Lucy came to live with us. Some of you will have met her at the DID fun day out, but for those who didn’t here is a little update and a few pics.
Lily is a truly gentle soul, she just wants to please all the time. :D. Its hard to know when she is happiest….she just loves everything- except men! She loves loves loves the water and will run to be in the lakes just as soon as the car is opened . She won’t get out once she gets in and the only way to get her out is to keep walking away until she eventually follows! She recently got a new best friend, Rudi, formerly Tess another DID graduate and they just play and play all day. There is constantly a game of chase going on in the house  She really is a sweetheart who feels your every mood and seems happy when you are happy and will cuddle up to you and lick you when you are sad :D, a real lady. Here are a few pics of her and her big brother Oscar and little sister Rudi earlier today at the lakes.

Hi everyone. Sorry for not updating sooner but life got in the way! Rudi fka Tess is doing great- she is as mad as a box of frogs but we wouldn’t have her any other way! :D . Lily is truly her bestest friend in the whole wide world, they just play and play all day, rolling and chasing and barking and in lilys case, making seal noises????. Rudi and Oscar still dont interact too much, they just have a healthy respect for each other and get out of each others way when the madness starts! although, I have caught them a few times sharing some very touching moments.
Here are a few recent pics mostly taken this morning at the lakes of herself and her big brother and sister, hope you enjoy (especially Indianna). I will post a few more on Lilys Happy Endings page too if you want to see some more…….

Hiya. dont know if this will help but worth a try….. I have 3 dogs, the first one was and is a very large dog which was rescued and had no manners when he arrived, so I had to do something fast! He used to take the treats, hand, arm and all at the same time! I taught him the command ‘be gentle’. If he wasnt gentle he didnt get the goodies. If he tried to snap I just put my finger in front of his face, between the treat and him, and repeated the words be gentle. He very quickly learned the command. My other two later additions have been taught the same thing and it works a treat. I also use the command if play gets a little too rough, and they back down and start licking instead of biting. It has to be said with a firm voice though…. and dont give in! It should only take a very short while for the dog to realise what he needs to do and what the command means. Best of luck and hope it works as well for you and your family ;)

So sorry to announce to all you Tess fans that TESS IS OFF THE MARKET  Tess, now Rudi, was officially adopted by us today, with thanks to Kathy and Kim, and became the third member of our doggie clan. The number now equals the humans in the house! We are so happy to have the little minx with us and look forward to all her new adventures, especially with Lily our other DID dog (formerly Lucy adopted 3/12/09) with whom she is inseparable :D
Thanks again to all at DID and we will continue to follow all our other favourites to their forever homes through the website and promise to post more photos of Rudi and her adventures as they unfold. X ;)

Hi Indianna, I am still swimming away almost every day. I dont want to wear goggles cos thats not what my sister and brother do!
I was a bold girl yesterday, I did a little home decorating. I didnt like the carpet on the landing and didnt think anyone else did either so I worked at it for ages and got some of it up! :D My foster person didnt seem to mind tooo much, said something about it needing replacing anyway. So glad to be of help!
Must be doing something right though cos I heard my foster people talking about adopting me! ;) hope it doesnt hurt!!!!! :D

Hi Curly & Indianna. I can’t believe that Tess is still with us either, can’t believe my luck that is!!!

Little Tess (Rudi) is not quite as little as she was when she first came to us. She has gone from 4.5 kg to 5kg (don’t tell her, don’t want the little minx to start watching her weight!) She is also a lot more lively, and for that reason I think she would be happiest in a home with another dog (not too old)…. she swings out of poor Lily 24/7! Lily doesn’t mind 23/7 but gets annoyed with her sometimes… thats when Rudi backs off and knows its time to recharge the batteries for the next assault!!! :o

p.s. the vet thinks she is a chihuahuah/ Jack Russell Terrier cross. She has such a tiny pixie face.

Well the lovely Tess (Rudi) got her stitches our yesterday and finally lost the ‘cone of shame’, but unfortunately she has picked up some sort of tummy infection, so is on antibiotics for the next 6 days. However, this is not holding her back at all! she still has a very healthy appetite, but is on a restricted diet for next few days. :x
As soon as the stitches came out yesterday, we took the 3 of them to the lakes, where i am very pleased to report, Tess has now learned to swim and retrieve sticks just like her brother and sister!(however, her sticks are only a couple of inches long and only get thrown about 4 feet) She just loves being able to do what the other doggies do, and still drags back in the sticks that Lily gets bored with near the waters edge for us adults so we dont have to get our feet wet. She even does this on command!!!!! She is hilarious, great fun to have around and soooo affectionate…….she licked the face off the vet yesterday even though she wasnt being that ‘kind’ to her!!!!! :D. A really great little dog, full of mischief and fun.

Oh thank you Liz sooooo much for taking in this beautiful little dog. It was breaking my heart looking at him on the website and knowing his days were numbered. I would have taken him in in a heartbeat if I wasn’t alreading fostering Tess. Well done to all involved and to all the others who have taken in the other dogs so recently put up for foster. I’m gonna follow Zorro with a happy heart now! :D

poor little Tess (Rudi) got neutered on Wednesday. After a very poorly time on Wednesday night and Thursday morning she has perked up! Apart from the damn collar (which she is really finding hard to negotiate) she is as right as rain :D .Her new bestest friend Lily (another DID rescue who came to be part of our family last December) unfortunately wont have anything to do with her whilst she is wearing ‘the cone of shame’!! but as soon as we take it off to give her a bit of a break, Lily and herself just charge around jumping on each other and rolling around as normal- however, because of the stitches I have to keep interrupting their game with the much hated collar!

A couple of recent pics, before and after the neutering…..

Tess had her first experience of the lakes yesterday evening. I took the three of them down and my two just did their usual thing and took off as soon as the boot of the car was opened. Tess was on the lead and was very disgruntled at not being able to run with the other two so I decided to take and chance and let her go! She would run ahead for a bit, but stop and look back to make sure I was coming. When we got to the water Oscar and Lily were already in, swimming away, and waiting for the usual game of stick fetching- Tess went nuts! She had obviously never seen that amount of water, let alone dogs swimming in it! She barked at the other two and kept running in to the water but was very afraid to get out of her depth. I felt sorry for her cos she really really wanted to fetch the sticks too, but was just too scared. Lily loves the water so much that she wont actually get out to give you the stick back and always drops it near the edge. Next thing I looked and Tess had found a job she could do! She was dragging in the sticks that Lily abandoned at the waters edge for us to throw again. It was just the cutest thing I have ever seen!!!! :D She really is a great little dog ;). More photos soon, I promise!
